These couple of scenes with Padme's family would add so much value to the movie for both characters. We get to see Anakin finally seeing what a family is like. We get to see more of Padme's background that is just mentioned. Her family noting the obvious attraction helps (almost like they are giving approval). It builds more to what Anakin would have had and makes his fall that much farther. I think this would have been better to have then the picnic and cabin scenes. I am assuming it was removed due to time/flow. But definitely should be added back in on the next release (aren't we due another version by now?) I mean I have like 4 version of New Hope.
The films really needed more material like this to demonstrate why Anakin was so vulnerable to the lure of the Dark Side of the Force. In this case, his desire for his own wife, home, and family made him willing to do whatever he had to. On a side note, it is actually kind of messed up that a "good" Jedi must reject these things because they are "attachments". Seems to me like a truly good person is one who fights for these things, and is strengthened by them, not weakened.
I love the decor style...both modern and somewhat rustic at the same time, which is so not what we all pictured from New Hope and other SW films....she's so right....there's not been much warmth in any homes we've seen elsewhere. It's too bad they cut this out as it does show not only what Anakin had longed for as a kid but what he hoped to have with Padme in their future.
There was so much more to this love story and the failure of the prequels was instead of bringing us more of the love story about 2 people who are friends growing and having the thing the other craved. We got the literal 2 hottest people in the universe of course they fell in love and 1 hour and 25 minutes of Pod racing in Phantom Menace.
Binary sunset first played after Luke’s adoptive parents were found burnt alive. The music was supposed to be a mixture of sadness with hopefulness. Sad because an entire species died off, but hopeful because Padme could use this loss as motivation to improve the lives of millions of others throughout the galaxy during her life.
What's just sad is that the clone wars TV show never again talks, mentions, or show Padme's family or Naboo again. At least I don't think they show that. Chronologically, once Padme dies she is never mentioned again. I really hope that we do return to the Prequels planets in a post Return of the Jedi era in some form. It saddens me to see or think that Leia and Luke may never feel the need to know who their birth mother was.
I believe Padme's family is in the funeral scene in Episode III. But you don't know know who they are unless you've seen this deleted scene... which is weird. Or you've read the AOTC novel.

Episode 2 and 3 need extended cuts because they cut out too many of Padme’s scenes as if they weren’t confident in the character to begin with. She’s one of the three main characters. She needed that scene in the senate and some parts of her return home.

Its actually really important. Because (i have seen this many times) a person who has fhat craving for a home, when they find a person that they can call home- they will cling to tjem with all their might and wish to die if they get torn apart. It makes it more understandable why anakin was so obsessed with not losing padme at any cost. Its a different level of obsession when someone lacks that security and has no place else to turn.
Watching these scenes is so wonderful and yet I hate in a good way it reminds me of the 2000s vibe it feels like something i already watched I guess truly beautiful meeting the family
What a shame that these scenes were deleted. They brought more depth to their relationship. I think Episode II would have been better with a different editor.

In the movie it is described that it is forbidden for Jedi to have attachments. Therefore, Anakin was not allowed to visit his mother, and he only was able to look for her in the movie because he was away from the Jedi order with Padme. Also, as messed up as this might sound, to go to tattooine and free just Anakin’s mom would be a sign of attachment. Why free her and not the other thousands of slaves? Many of which might have a worse situation. By just freeing her would show an attachment to her that is forbidden. Obviously, I don’t agree with this but the point of these movies was to show how arrogant, out of touch and political the Jedi had become. They followed the Jedi code more closely than the force. It’s why Quigon was never allowed on the Jedi council as he dismissed the Jedi code often.

In the movies Anakin went back for his mother because he started having nightmares of her every night. That aside these movies are still awful even today. The nightmares getting worse and worse is what pushes him over the edge, but him being away from the other Jedi is what gives him the opportunity he never had before. Who knows if he would have visited her if he was with Obi Wan tracking down Jango. Saying that because Anakin liked to break the rules therefore it makes no sense why he didn’t: 1.) Any new owner of Lucasfilm and the Star Wars IP after they have removed them from Disney's grubby woke hands, should put all the deleted scenes in 1 - 6 into a special special extended editions for theatrical releases while the new owners studio is making a hard retconned 7, 8 and 9.
