Not planning to buy this car but enjoyed the review by Hafriz. Honest, no bias. That’s what we want to see. One of his best if not his best presentation to date. Well done.
Wow, Hafriz, you indeed did a good job with this review particularly revealing all those flaws. I hope Proton will acknowledge all of them and come out with future updates/maintenances. Well done, bro!!! You caught my attention the whole hour!

Amazing video! What a thorough review of X50. It’s like watching a full episode of Top Gear but only reviewing one car. Glad that you’re being absolutely honest in the video, unlike other sponsored contents. Most unbiased car review video ever. Kudos to Paul Tan and Hafriz!
kudos to PT teams. I have never watched a full 1 hour car review before. it doesn't even feel like I just finished a full one hour by just watching one car review video.
Kudos Hafriz, this is probably the longest car review i've watched and i like it. But man... that wind noise is truly an issue, borderline deal-breaker to me. I prefer my car quiet even if it is not quick. I think Proton should fix that one first with upmost urgency, the rest of the niggles can wait as it is tolerable.
Good job, Hafriz, you should be the technical advisor to Proton board. Hope Proton will hear you and most importantly, act immediately to rectify the problem.
This video proves Paul Tan is indeed the best car review channel and website in the country. Great attention to detail and simple yet thorough explanations. Im very sure this video will help many potential buyers of the X50. Great job.
I'm going to agree with many of the commenters out there, the level of details presented is impressive and is incredibly helpful to both potential buyers and Proton/Geely. I didn't plan to but watched this all the way to the end! To Proton and Geely management, please be smart and take this as constructive criticism to improve the next versions of not just the X50 but future cars as well Keep up the good work Hafriz!
my favourite part of the video, aside from the undeniably brilliant 1 hour review, is the positiveness and support people show towards Hafriz in the comment section. its such a wholesome sight :)
Very through review. 1 hr, it's not that long if audience is paying attention to your comments. Kudos to your presentation, you've done well on simplify things making long story short. I thought 1 hr would be boring bfr I watched but no, it's not at all, I don't even realize the review came to an end if you didn't say "that's it for this review". Overall, good & honest review. Proton really owed you a favor for professional review.
26:20 I feel you Hafriz.. I just sometimes don't understand why a lot of Malaysians would risk themselves with cheaper brand tyres when that is what I consider the most important part of the car.. Especially motorcycles as well.. A lot of motorcyclist in Malaysia would rather go for cheaper tyres.. I'm just speechless honestly.. Just finished watching the whole 1 Hour video.. Good job and well done to the team for putting up so much work and effort for this video.. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾
Completed watching one hour video, very well done! I have test driven the car and I love it! It just not suitable for my daily use so I have to skip it. I guess no cars are flawless, just hope Proton will quickly sort them out and we will have an even better car!
For the price, all the flaws are just some minor things. Yes hoping to come out with a solutions for the flaws. Well even with the car of price tag of RM250K still has flaws, then the X50 is just nothing.
Very detailed and direct to the point. Well done, Hafriz. I do agree with the rear seat spacing comparison with HRV, and I really appreciate Proton for putting arm rest for rear seat as my HRV doesn't have one. Both are comfort to sit, especially during long hauls due to its declined positioning. But the HRV lacks arm rest which I really need it whenever I'm not driving. Again, well done Hafriz and PT team!
Thank you for this review, especially the wind noise issue. Yes, noise is really a big issue for me be it from wind, tire or engine. 2 yrs ago, i failed to hear your advice over the road noise issue on a CRV compared to the more refined X70 and i regretted that. Not going to do the same mistake again this time :-) Thank you Hafriz.
3-cylinder engines are not only imbalanced because of their arrangement of cylinders. It is also the firing order, there is a period of time within the combustion cycle where there are no power stroke, whereas in a 4 or more cylinder engine, there is always a power stroke somewhere. But I guess explaining it in this 1 hour review will be too lengthy already. :P Kudos to the great review! Hope Proton can really fix all the little nuggets of issues for an otherwise perfect B segment SUV.
A malaysian with knowledge and knows how to present in detail.. very meticulous, and superb review⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I actually watched an Hour of a Malaysian made review, very very rare.. or you could say, for the 1st time in my life...
Good job Paul Tan / Hafriz.. It’s really a detailed review Btw would like to see you sharing your choice for X50 flagship vs X70 executive/premium since the price gap quite close iinm
I've sat in the car at proton showroom, the centre console is quite too high, costing elbow room for bigger and taller drivers (I'm 6 ft 2 and 220lbs). But the quality of the interior is miles away from its competitors of the same price point. The blue color is really amazing in the flesh compared to the red.

Many people may not aware that the DCT mechanism is similar to manual where the gears are more reliable than the AT and CVT. The only issue with the DCT especially dry type is the heat may cause the damage to the TCU and friction will cause the clutch pad worn out. However the wet type is far more reliable than dry as the TCU rarely fail and the clutch pad is design to last at least 240k km. If the clutch pad worn out the replacement (not repair) is cost less than RM2k (external workshop price). Since it is replace not repair, it mean it should last another 240k km before it worn out again. The AT especially more gears such as 8 or 9 gears may not able to last till 300k km as if the planetary gear loose it gonna repair or exchange with recond. Btw the 4AT is a mighty long lasting gearbox as lesser moving parts compare to 8 or 9 speeder. So don't affair of wet type DCT, most of the China, Europe and Korean cars are using DCT while Japanese embraced with CVT. A CVT user easily accept DCT but the DCT user is hardly adapt with the CVT.
