    This was a very nice, Informative video. I admire how you hike and deal with the loss of your lung. I’m getting back into hiking despite the fact that chemotherapy makes my feet hurt like hell with every step, and the fact that I am quite week. I tell myself that it’s a state of mind - and grind on.

      Thank you. Just take it one step at a time and you will gradually get better and feel fitter. I do struggle on the steep hills so set myself a goal of 50 steps before I take a break. It is probably more of a mental goal than anything. It took me a while though. Keep chipping as they say. All the very best, Jiffy 👍

    Great stuff Jiffy. That sky at the beginning was something else. Didnt see this one come up on my feed for some reason, even though Ive got notifications set to ‘all’. Good pillow tip. If you have a Sea to Summit one they come with velcro attachments for pillows. I had an older model without the velcro and they kindly sent me some adhesive ones for free. Loved the bit where you popped your head out of the Tent! Dont forget to upload to Great Outdoors, always good to see your videos there👍

    This was very useful as was the Enan comparison video. Thank you. I’ve looked at SO many lightweight tent reviews. The usual suspects Lanshan, Six Moons, Big Agnes, MSR. And I’ve never felt that any of them was The One. I know the Enan is currently £750 but I reckon I’m going for it and rejecting the more affordable options on the reasonable basis of “buy cheap, buy twice”. I had to watch all the less expensive tent reviews to appreciate just how the Hilleberg is such value for money. It oozes quality. And I wasn’t aware that Hilleberg did such a lighter tent as most people have the ones that are built like tanks. So thanks once again. I notice you haven’t put up a video in a while so I hope you’re doing ok in these strange times. Best wishes.

    You've mirrored my own thoughts exactly on this one Jiffy. I'm currently trying to trim what I carry to an absolute minimum. My kit cupboard is full of stuff which I've bought on a whim, thinking it might be useful but in reality never is. I've recently changed over from a sleeping bag to a quilt. Got the Thermarest Vesper -20F/-6C. Lovely and cosy and lightweight. Still kept my Rab 900 for the colder months. Same tent as yourself. I've attached the extra guys on the end panels. They do make a difference.
    Take care.

    • @WildCampingWelshman
      @WildCampingWelshman  3 роки тому

      Thank you Frederick. I think that you can easily take too much stuff which isn’t necessary. The weight of my pack wasn’t noticeable at all on this, which was great 👍🏻

    Hi Jiffy, have tried and consequently invested in the MSR WindBurner stove. Haven't actually tried it on the hill yet but had ago in a bit of a gale in my back garden. Knocks spots off the Jetboil in my opinion. Wonderful bit of kit.

    i would recommend a bit more first aid kit - as a minimum i would add a field dressing, or a clean cotton hankie would suffice for quick application to a wound. a couple of big bin liners i always have at the bottom of my pack, they weigh very little but can be used for all sorts-a friend lost his jacket on a hike, and i made a rough waterproof for him when the heavens opened!

    Hi great video iam looking at this tent just wondering if you ever close the air vents at both side. in bad weather heavy rain storms snow ect .would it be OK in 4 seasons..alos what's the condensation like would be great full for advice before I buy thanks Craig

    • @WildCampingWelshman
      @WildCampingWelshman  Рік тому

      Hiya Craig. I’ve had it out in some wind driven rain and non got through the panel at the end (I didn’t need to pull the covers down). I find venting it by opening the door a bit helps. All tents, including open tarps can get condensation, if the conditions are right. Don’t let anyone fool you otherwise. Just take a cloth to wipe things down. It will be fine in most weather except drifting snow because there isn’t an upper vent. Other than that, it’s just a much lighter Akto, which is 4 seasons. For strong winds though, I would think about double poles or a 10mm pole. Some extra guys will help too. It’s a cracking tent and very light considering its size and strength. I have got a film with it in wind up the Peak District. That was completely standard including pegs etc. ATB Jiffy 👍🏻

  • @jimtilbrook4635
    @jimtilbrook4635 3 роки тому

    Lovely to see you out and about Jiffy. Excellent vlog again, tell me this time of year does the inside of the Enan flysheet have more condensation than the outside? My recent trip doing the Beacon way stages from Abergavenny to Crickhowell my tent inside was soaking wet 🏊🏻‍♂️

    • @WildCampingWelshman
      @WildCampingWelshman  3 роки тому +1

      It always depends on the conditions Jim. Some nights nothing, other nights quite a bit. I really don’t let it bother me. I have more issues with condensation at home. I just wipe it down with a rag and crack on. I’ve had large family tents which are much worse (probably due to the amount of people breathing). Best wishes, Jiffy 👍🏻

    Very regimented load out Jiffy, I wish I was as organised and ruthless as you with my kit, I have cut it down a fair bit, but if I'm in the woods I need a saw, a decent knife, fire making stuff etc. I'm very impressed you can even walk up a tiny hill with one lung let alone some bigger ones. Those tiny pumps are a no brainer, I love mine, noisey but very worth it. I've never used gas on a wild camp, I suppose if I was in the hills all the time I would need to get a gas cooker. No beer!! (Wuz here). Good video mate. I use a Klymit V2 pad and blow it up by mouth. If I had a much more expensive pad such as the Uberlight though I’d definitely consider a mini pump to be an ‘essential’ bit of gear simply due to such pads being so bluddy expensive - blowing up by mouth can cause mould to grow on the inside.

      Hi Andrew, I haven’t found it to be “breezy” inside and it has been windy when I’ve been out. It’s not been cold though so don’t really know what it will be like if there is a cold breeze. It’s a cracking little tent though. I hope you’re well mate 👍🏻

      Hi Ashley, if you are just starting out, don’t go spending loads mate. Alpkit do some great gear at reasonable prices. Thermometer about £4 from aliexpress. Alpkit brukit is a decent cooker. Warm gear decathlon. A decent sleeping mat will make a huge difference in your warmth at night. I’ve built up and altered my kit over the years so it has taken me some time to get to this point (and a lot of money). Keep a look out for some second hand kit on Facebook marketplace too. ATB Jiffy 👍🏻
