    The Gibson LP Studio sounds the best. There's something about it's tone. It feels warm and fully harmonic.
    I bet it also has the best resonant feeling when unplugged.
    The others were good and most people would be super pelased with any of those. But I don't think you can hear that Studio and not scratch your head at the little "something" it has.

    LTD surprised me, i didn't expected it to sound that good. Lesson of the day: Active Fishman pickups are great 😊

    I thought they were all good but the D’Angelico was fabulous.

      Right? That was the biggest surprise for me. Such a cool and slick tone. Nice and thin neck profile too, so if you're into that vibe this is a killer and unique single cut. //Kris

      I would go for that one, too. Well, I changed from Double Humbucker to Strat (and yes, it's SSS), so no surprise about my tone preferences.

    To me Gibson and PRS sound the best, while PRS seems like the best deal of these five. I'd also consider getting an Epi Modern or Standard and changing pick-ups to Dimarzio or something

      Me too. It had a depth of tone that was lacking in the others. The D'Angelico was a disappointment.

    From my days selling audio -- THE LOUDER ONE ALWAYS WINS. Nice shoot out but to be fair all outputs and even pick attack must be the same.The PRS and ESP are both maybe 2DB louder than the rest. Not fair.

    I finally got a “Les Paul” that fits me… the PRS SE Tremonti model. Sure a whammy bar isn’t “traditional” but I never felt comfortable with the Les Paul high neck angle and bridge/tailpiece combo. Plus the pickups are hot, but articulation does not get lost, even with heavy fuzz (EQD Hizumitas).

    D'Angelico First ... Probably the Seymour Duncan Give a Boost to That Guitar
    PRS SE seccond... Really Nice Tones
    Epiphone Third... Nice Looking and Solid for the Price
    LTD Fourth ... May Be a Little Tp Modern and Compressed on Clean Sounds
    Gibson..Last.. is where all the Others Are Coming ... But Overpriced for a Poor Looking Guitar .. where also the quality of details and setup probably isn't in line with the price...

    Solid demo.
    I would say that on an overall basis, I would rank them (based against my taste):
    The Epiphone
    The Gibson
    The ESP LTD
    The PRS
    The D’angelico

  • @GitShiddy
    @GitShiddy 8 місяців тому +1

    Toss up between the Epiphone & the PRS for how I personally think a Les Paul should sound. Really dug the D'Angelico's sound. It's not "that sound" but it would be the sound I'm most comfortable with as it leans more on telecaster-ish spank.

  • @joeformayor
    @joeformayor 8 місяців тому

    I thought the Gibson, Epiphone, and PRS sounded very similar. Don’t think you could go wrong with any of them. The D’Angelico sounded better with the gain tones; was not a fan of the clean tones. Lastly the LTD sounded very hot and I could tell it wanted to be chugged. Clean sounds were okay on the LTD but it’s a metal machine.

    Even thought the ESP has classic fishman fluences it was still majorly hot output sounding.
    Thought the D’Angelico sounded great but a little weak volume wise. The PRS sounded bland and the gibson and Eli weren’t very different from each other.

    • @Mudge07
      @Mudge07 8 місяців тому

      Agree with the PRS achieves a controlled and aimed-for sound, the LTD definitely the crowd shifter rather than heart stopper with its high gain ‘comfort zone’. The Epiphone has enough character to separate it from the Gibson and the D’Angelico was the counter to the LTD; which grouped together is something for everyone.

    I'm not sure, but does the D'Angelico sound more like the first generation Harley Benton SE-Series with Wilkinson Humbucker? Just asking because i owed a 450 and a 550 and have them as references.

    Have owned the Les Paul studio since 2001 and it’s a proper workhorse. Very happy and wouldn’t sell it 👍
    I did like the 594 too though which gave a slightly different flavour of humbuckers

    Great video. The best tone for me has Gibson, just love thoose pickups. Second and very close i pick the PRS. Then its a larger gap for me. Epiphone sounds ok and the rest i didnt like at all. For price and overall tone i pick the PRS. It sounds a little bit darker than Gibson but very smooth tones. I just love that more barky tones from theese Gibson pickups. Miss that from the Burst Buckers. Whats your take on the difference between thoose pickups Kris? Thanks

    I thought the gibby sounded best easily, i actually was expecting the Epiphone to be closer with the US pick ups, The PRS was probably second for me but a far second and as usual the LTD was my least favorite.

    • @hottist

      That really might be because of the pickups, since it's the burst bucker and the Gibson has more classic ones.

    My favorit is Gibson, has the roundest sound from all. Active pickups no thanks.
    For High Gain you need no Aktive Pickups, passive makes round not screaming Pigs!

  • @philipatoz
    @philipatoz 8 місяців тому

    Difference between the LP and the Epi at the same volume, there's a slight difference in projection and fullness of sound. HOWEVER, just barely boosting the volume of the Epi would negate that. Only an idiot with a modest budget would splash out for a LP over an Epi - there's just NO way that Gibson logo is triumphantly screaming all those extra digits in pricing (can't HEAR or PLAY a logo - no matter how hard you try to convince yourself). I'd only go Gibson LP is money was absolutely no issue!
