Personally I like to call normal stalls Defensive Stalls and these Sideways Stalls you showed off Offensive Stalls. It just makes sense with what there used for.

also in the handcam Part : 6:18 , I actually jump and boost with the same finger, i can put like my thumb between the X and O and i can press them at the same time without any issue
cheers mage. Had so much fun (and frustration) learning this mechanic from your videos. Still wasn't able to do it as fast as you can, but.. made so much progress in just a few days using your vids as a guide.
Cool re: pressing X O with thumb. I've always used a claw grip on sideswipe so just use 2 fingers for those buttons. But yeh on normal rocket league I just mash both with my thumb

i havent seen anyone ask this before, do i hold boost and jump or slightly press both?
Im a champ 3 player on controller. I can stall chain well and side stall not that well. Ive been doing it with my car facing up and can only get 4/5 chains together sometimes more but then it shoots lol. Watched this and tried it its super hard any other advise on how to get better at sideways chain? I feel way more comfortable with doing it facing upwards this will take some serious practice

I have a question, how do you half roll the car with controller bec it so slow and I have press it for a second ?
half air roll on controller defaults to L2/LT
but I changed mine to L1/LB because that button is easier/quicker to press.
I have iphone, so it was easy to rebind my controller buttons. (Settings / General / Game Controller). Not sure about android though

Arrrrrgh!! I've been trying so hard to learn how to do this starting with the nose of the car pointed up. Now I have to unlearn everything I've learned and start from scratch. When I did it right I was managing to get three or four in a row in the jump house before hitting the wall, but it was never consistent. I will use this new guide to learn the correct way and make them consistent. Thanks Mogz!! Excellent tutorial!

Yeh you can def get 3-4 with the up & back method.. but u gota get your positioning PERFECT.. n even then its limited cos cant boost down to regain control.

Something that happens to me a LOT is that when I put my car 45 degrees, the ball just goes up slightly (although I still follow though with the ball because of the neutral jump)
So one thing I taught myself is to aim slightly DOWN and most of the time I can spam the stalls with no issue

Yoo I loved your video and it helped me a lot but I have a problem here, sometimes the ball ends up going too high or too low, and another thing I can't perfect is the angle, sometimes the car can't reset or can't do more than one reset!

After getting the initial reset, you're pressing jump before doing another half air roll. Wheels should always be away from the ball before jumping to stall.

i play on controller, and i switched my air roll buttons..
so my half air roll is now L1/LB, and my continuous air roll (which i almost never use) is L2/LT

yeh you can definitely do it vertically. Just need to be EXTREMELY fast with your stalls. Thats why I didnt include that in the video. Doable but very difficult.

i duno homie - i never lag. Must be either your phone or your internet. or both!
There is an alternative way that uses no boost and that is when your about to boost instead lightly tap your joystick in the 45 degree angle. ( this is way waaayyyy harder and most of the time only works on controller.)

I found sidestallijg the easiest of all stalls because if you can keep the momentum you don’t lose the ball

you're pressing jump when you should be pressing air roll.
just slow down your button presses first - practice some regular stall chains before moving onto these fast ones.

You can still sideways stall with an upwards angle or flat angle without boost. Wouldn’t say this way is inherently more correct than the others but good tutorial regardless.
I actually wrote an edit of the script that was more nuanced in this way - saying "this way is preferable bcs blahblahblah but u can still do it the other way too if u get the angle right".. but decided to go for a simpler approach

tends to be the way I approach things as it makes it easier to digest for the viewer. Gives them a clear idea of what they took away from the video
I do agree tho - u can get a bunch of sideways stalls using the 'up and back' method, particularly if ur extremely fast with ur stalls. However, the angle needs to be absolutely perfect and theres much less room for adjustment mid-chain due to the inability to boost down to regain your position under the ball.
