Try the Assiomas! I had a 4iiii PM and got rid of it within a month it was so inconsistent / unreliable. Got the Favero duos instead and haven’t looked back! They’re incredible. Very nicely designed with the magnetic charging too. Easy to use.
I have the opposite experience :( Every known good power meter, dual or single sided show me the same watts as my wahoo bike. Except assiomas. 2 pairs of them show 10 watts less on left side than on right. Funny thing is Garmin, Wahoobike, Quarq, P2M all show double right side which tells me Assioma left side is wrong. I have no injuries and have always been 50/50 or 49/51 for my left right according to all versions of garmin power meters. Favero thinks I'm 44/56 except when I'm standing up. Then it matches watts with my P2m and shows 50/50. Unlucky batch of assiomas I guess...
Great bike. I have the 2022 Roadmachine 01 Three. I have the same size ERC DT Swiss but the steel ball bearings. Great wheels. World’s best. I couldn’t be happier. Best paint job. Quality bike. I’m happy every time I ride. I’m the only person in the US that has the 61cm frame. Congratulations.
Concerning the powermeter: I can highly recommend the assioma favero pm pedals. I have been using them I had never any problems. The seem to be very accurate. And you can charge them and dont need to buy fancy batteries like with the vectors.
@@mydearriley Late reply on this, sorry mate. I love the Wahoo phone app and phone integration, and they just work continually. I've had very few issues. Having said this I will be getting a solar Garmin unit for ultra racing.

Really good indepth review The handlebars I personally prefer the wider red version on your ohter bike I normally run a 42mm CtoC many moons ago i had a set 40mm CC which i couldnt get used to too narrow handling was very scary cornering went back to 42cc and presto handling was once again great Have a good 2023

When you're ready to throw on your fast tires think about the kinda Valkyrie TRL pros I've got them on my KHS team bike running some vision metron 55 and they are absolutely perfect. They run slightly narrower from the factory, and are very very fast rolling with great puncture resistance the grip in the wet is amazing as well they give you that perfect u shape and the dry grip is phenomenal coming from somebody who's normally running GP 5000s or Schwabe one's the kendas are phenomenal.
Every crank based power meter on shimano cranks up until the newest generation has been inaccurate because the asymmetrical design makes it nearly impossible to measure strain on them accurately. The new shimano cranks are symmetrical and stages have produced an accurate power meter on them, something that shimano themselves are still incapable of.
That is/was probably the best explanation I’ve heard for adding a CeramicSpeed oversized pulley, especially considering the number of naysayers about them… btw you’ve got do something about the background shots of the hillsides and views, they’re atrocious… lol… I’ll be out there this summer to see this stuff for myself… 😂🍻
Bike looks so good mate. Well deserved. I wish these bars had of been available when i had mine, i found it the only drawback, i was used to 36cm bars so trying to get used to the 40's which where only available at the time just didn't feel right. Narrower bars are the way to go, you will love them, i have never looked back. I might have to buy myself another one now !😂
Cheers dude. Yeah for us smaller riders narrower bars are definitely a requirement. I got used to the 40’s eventually but the difference in speed bringing my hands in by 40mm is wild..so, so noticeable. Cannot wait to get the deep wheels and skinsuit on for some long range solo attacks this summer.

Stages for me has been great in the last 4 yrs that i've run them. But accuracy really depends on left/right balance. My right leg has always been my dominant leg so I assume it is as well on the bike. If that's true then its under-reading. Would be good to have power on both cranks so I actually know.

im sure the dt swiss wheels are amazing, would be cool to have lightweight disc wheels on there for ultimate light weight, yeah 50 mil is ideal, 60s are scary in the wind if its truly windy

Thanks man 🙏🏼Tubolito’s are very very light but cost 1-2w in rolling efficiency. To me the ~60-80g weight saving over regular tubes for that 1-2w is worth it though. Might set the bike up tubeless in future though.

Ever thought about trying Speed Play pedals? I recently changed from Shimano and have found them to be great so far. They have some power meter pedals that get good reviews. Might be worth a look.
Which handlebar do you have on your bike? K-Edge make a good mount with GoPro attachment if you have a regular round handlebar, or if you've got the BMC integrated handlebar it can be ordered from a BMC dealer.
The OSPW - I’m not convinced it makes you faster. You may well notice the smoothness but I’m yet to be convinced that smoothness translates to a tangible speed increase. Just my opinion mind Either way, very nice bike
Yes nobody actually buys these overpriced pully wheels except Instagram cyclists. it's never been proven they actually make you faster. If it were the case the pros would be using them, don't they? Since he gets this shit for free he can't say anything negative about it. Bike looks nice tho.
Michael Smith - Firstly, two World Tour teams use CeramicSpeed. Secondly, I personally know a number of World Tour riders who have bought their own CeramicSpeed to use at World Champs when not being obligated to ride team equipment. Don’t get your panties in a knot over equipment you don’t need to buy yourself. And the dig at me about the “instagram cyclist” isn’t necessary..I guarantee I’ve won more races than you’ve finished, mate.
@@tristantakevideo There were pro teams who used oval chainrings too, but they were also unproven to have any power/speed benefit. As I said, I get the smoothness claim. I'd even understand a claim that they make your chain last longer. But an actual speed increase? Nah You do you though. If it works for you then sweet. That's all that matters really
Hey man, thanks! I’m 172cm, but have a very short saddle height for my height (68.5cm). I think 165’s are great for anyone with a saddle height below 70cm but it’s always worth doing lots of research and potentially speaking to a bike fitter for their opinion as well.
I haven’t yet, although I’ve got a set from AbsoluteBlack that would work on this crankset, so I might give them a try just to see what they feel like. Have you tried them?

@@tristantakevideo Yeah Tristan, I find the bars too slippery without the tape when riding puppy paws but concede you may not have this issue. I also like to have a bit of padding under there for long stints in this position, each to their own however.
Why not have the deep section wheel on the back and low section on front for training??? Should give you more speed whilst not being effected by cross winds so much.
If you go ceramic, go all the way. If you only do the bb or pulley wheels it won’t give you the results you’re looking for. But in the end it costs a lot for a “minor “ upgrade in performance.

Hey Jeremy, no I've always run a 120mm stem on my BMC's, however there's a subtle length difference between the two different integrated front end options. Not enough to need to size down though.
I had some Dura-Ace for about 3 years and they were great. They started creaking though and I never got them serviced. But I should..shaving those few grams off again would be nice.
Definitely do not get Garmin based power meter, it’s not reliable and mega expensive. I too had started with left crank based power meter, mine read too high! I got favero Assiomas for shimano pedals because it’s got longer axles and ima big boy who needs that extra wide stance. Otherwise get the normal ones and never look back! Cheers mate
I’ve been running the vector 2’s for years and can’t fault them. If you think a left side PM is running too high or low, it’s more than likely from a L/R imbalance.
It's amazing that although the 50mm deep wheels are "undeniably faster", Luke Plapp chose to run 35mm deep wheels to win the Australian Road champs. I wonder why..

Although at a constant speed on the flat in the wind a deep section may be faster, when you add in accelerations and riding in the wheels it's a far less clear picture, that's even before you take into account hills. Also, when you say when you get them up to speed you can feel it holds the speed, the difference is around 15 watts, which is like pulling your elbows in by 2 inches, can you really feel the difference in speed when you pull your elbows in 2 inches?
Look up who won nationals 12 months ago and what depth of rim he was riding to answer your first question. One race isn’t a good metric to judge something by. Then re-read your first comment, followed by your last comment and try to come up with a clear argument. On one hand you’re inferring I’m wrong for saying 50mm rims are faster, and on the other you’re saying “they are faster but…”. If you need more proof, have a look at every race win (pro or amateur) for the last 5 years and let me know what rim depth is most consistently getting across the line first. Hint: it ain’t 35mm… And finally, the last comment is a joke right? I spend a third of this video talking about the bars allowing me to bring my hands and elbows in by a couple of inches and how that saves a huge amount of effort. 15 watts is 4% of my FTP…do you know what amount of training people do (myself included) in order to gain 4% on their FTP?
Adds skinny aero bars, ruins the aerodynamics by adding a lumpy computer in front.🙄 High time manufacturers addressed this by intergrating the computer into the stem and strip LED lights into the leading edge of the bar and rear of the seat post. It's crazy that so much effort is put into making frames aero then making it so that riders are forced to ruin all of those clean lines by adding lights, computers, bottles and pumps. UCI need to reconsider the ruling around fairing of ancillary fixtures.

UA-cam is turning into one big infomercial for brands...from autos to motorcycles to bicycles to high end watches whereby channels are given products to promote. Sorry, I find it both distasteful and disingenuous. Are you an ardent and decent cyclist? Yes. You certanly look fit. Are you a pro? No. How many different brands are successfully raced in the pro peloton? Several. Does BMC make a good bike? Yes. Does BMC have great value? No. Cost/benefit, pretty much anybody is as fast on a Giant TCR with cheap mechanical groupset and decent carbon wheels. Integrated handlebars suck on many levels but yours are narrow and look to be aero so I am sure slippery as you say. If you load up a bike with all ceramic bearings you are given to promote are they faster? Maybe a watt in aggregate but very little ROI for the weekend warrior. Tires matter as much or more which can be put on any bike. A summary. BMC this. BMC that. BMC this. BMC that. Nobody cares. A slippery 'very expensive' roadbike you were 'given' to promote. Any rider that can put out 10 more watts than you for your same size small body will be faster on several bikes that cost 1/2 as much. The fastest guy at the group ride or the crit is the fastest guy on any bike he brings.

Very true about the larger diameter jockey wheel. Same reason why it always feels weird pedaling in the smaller cogs.

didn't know he had a left-only, can't really expect single sided to be accurate beyond what you need for training

Nice wheels but a bit narrow for me two I prefer a 23c internal with 25c clinchers. I agree with the shallow rims being better for general rides.

The new stages 9200 dual crankset is apparantly really good. I guess you can get the in 165 when they are in stock

Thanks man 🙏🏼Tubolito’s are very very light but cost 1-2w in rolling efficiency. To me the ~60-80g weight saving over regular tubes for that 1-2w is worth it though. Might set the bike up tubeless in future though.

Which handlebar do you have on your bike? K-Edge make a good mount with GoPro attachment if you have a regular round handlebar, or if you've got the BMC integrated handlebar it can be ordered from a BMC dealer.

The OSPW - I’m not convinced it makes you faster. You may well notice the smoothness but I’m yet to be convinced that smoothness translates to a tangible speed increase.

Michael Smith - Firstly, two World Tour teams use CeramicSpeed. Secondly, I personally know a number of World Tour riders who have bought their own CeramicSpeed to use at World Champs when not being obligated to ride team equipment.

Hey man, thanks! I’m 172cm, but have a very short saddle height for my height (68.5cm). I think 165’s are great for anyone with a saddle height below 70cm but it’s always worth doing lots of research and potentially speaking to a bike fitter for their opinion as well.

I haven’t yet, although I’ve got a set from AbsoluteBlack that would work on this crankset, so I might give them a try just to see what they feel like. Have you tried them?

If you ride puppy paws as much as I do you need bar tape on the tops. That is much more aero than leaving the bar tape off.
Riding puppy paws doesn’t require bartape. You’re most likely fitted incorrectly if it does.
@@tristantakevideo Yeah Tristan, I find the bars too slippery without the tape when riding puppy paws but concede you may not have this issue. I also like to have a bit of padding under there for long stints in this position, each to their own however.

It can fit a 30c tyre no problems, potentially 32c depending on the model and width of the rim.

Why not have the deep section wheel on the back and low section on front for training??? Should give you more speed whilst not being effected by cross winds so much.

If you go ceramic, go all the way. If you only do the bb or pulley wheels it won’t give you the results you’re looking for.
But in the end it costs a lot for a “minor “ upgrade in performance.

Hey Jeremy, no I've always run a 120mm stem on my BMC's, however there's a subtle length difference between the two different integrated front end options. Not enough to need to size down though.

Faster and easier to get aero with, but not as much handling in corners on the hoods because they’re narrower.

I had some Dura-Ace for about 3 years and they were great. They started creaking though and I never got them serviced. But I should..shaving those few grams off again would be nice.
Definitely do not get Garmin based power meter, it’s not reliable and mega expensive.
I too had started with left crank based power meter, mine read too high!
I got favero Assiomas for shimano pedals because it’s got longer axles and ima big boy who needs that extra wide stance.
Otherwise get the normal ones and never look back!

I’ve been running the vector 2’s for years and can’t fault them.
If you think a left side PM is running too high or low, it’s more than likely from a L/R imbalance.

I’m genuinely impressed you’re referencing one specific race and one specific rider to try make this argument.
@@tristantakevideo Why would that one race be different? Although at a constant speed on the flat in the wind a deep section may be faster, when you add in accelerations and riding in the wheels it's a far less clear picture, that's even before you take into account hills. Also, when you say when you get them up to speed you can feel it holds the speed, the difference is around 15 watts, which is like pulling your elbows in by 2 inches, can you really feel the difference in speed when you pull your elbows in 2 inches?
Look up who won nationals 12 months ago and what depth of rim he was riding to answer your first question. One race isn’t a good metric to judge something by.
Then re-read your first comment, followed by your last comment and try to come up with a clear argument. On one hand you’re inferring I’m wrong for saying 50mm rims are faster, and on the other you’re saying “they are faster but…”.
If you need more proof, have a look at every race win (pro or amateur) for the last 5 years and let me know what rim depth is most consistently getting across the line first. Hint: it ain’t 35mm…
And finally, the last comment is a joke right? I spend a third of this video talking about the bars allowing me to bring my hands and elbows in by a couple of inches and how that saves a huge amount of effort. 15 watts is 4% of my FTP…do you know what amount of training people do (myself included) in order to gain 4% on their FTP?

Adds skinny aero bars, ruins the aerodynamics by adding a lumpy computer in front.🙄 High time manufacturers addressed this by intergrating the computer into the stem and strip LED lights into the leading edge of the bar and rear of the seat post. It's crazy that so much effort is put into making frames aero then making it so that riders are forced to ruin all of those clean lines by adding lights, computers, bottles and pumps. UCI need to reconsider the ruling around fairing of ancillary fixtures.

LUCKILY I ONLY NEEDED A METAL PLATE WHICH GOT ME LIMPING AROUND WITHIN DAYS. BUT A REAL WAKE UP CALL AT WHAT CAN GO WRONG..THE SURGEON SAID HE ASSUMED IT WAS A CAR CRASH THE INJURY WAS SO BAD WHILE CONFIRMING I DID HAVE DENSE STRONG BONES.

Are you an ardent and decent cyclist? Yes. You certanly look fit. Are you a pro? No.
How many different brands are successfully raced in the pro peloton? Several.
Does BMC make a good bike? Yes. Does BMC have great value? No. Cost/benefit, pretty much anybody is as fast on a Giant TCR with cheap mechanical groupset and decent carbon wheels.
Integrated handlebars suck on many levels but yours are narrow and look to be aero so I am sure slippery as you say. If you load up a bike with all ceramic bearings you are given to promote are they faster? Maybe a watt in aggregate but very little ROI for the weekend warrior.
Tires matter as much or more which can be put on any bike.
A summary. BMC this. BMC that. BMC this. BMC that.
Nobody cares. A slippery 'very expensive' roadbike you were 'given' to promote.
Any rider that can put out 10 more watts than you for your same size small body will be faster on several bikes that cost 1/2 as much. The fastest guy at the group ride or the crit is the fastest guy on any bike he brings.
