I ❤ Simple Minds, but the main thing that aggravates me about some of these older bands is trying to get the audience to sing what THEY, the lead singer, should be singing. Definitely not one of Jim's best live performances and I am sure he wouldn't argue that point. But, I am a huge fan of the band and don't intend to ever change that. They have a large catalogue of fantastic songs and were truly one of the great bands of the 80s. 😎 Thanks for posting the video! 😁
as it happens Danny. If you want a gig in your hometown (if a city) arrangr a meeting with the promoter that usually books the live acts and ask if they assist with the logistics. Take into account plane fares, travel boxes (easilly obtainable from Simple Minds management figure out how many tickets you would need to sell the email jim Kerr and as him if he woulf consider it. Jim Kerr is a fucken lovely man he really is and if he hs nothing on and the band is keen you may be suprised, then start selling tickets. They have played here in New Zealand (look at bottom of globe just east of aussie) make it an intimate show seriously you may be suprised how easy it is and as the promotor of course get a meet and great.

Control yourself, love is all you need, control yourself, open up your heart." The 'love is all you need' references decisions, choices or a state of mind to do so. Bill Hicks famously said "We can change the world right now its easy chose love over fear" When facing a decision, a choice or a mental position to any situation in the simplest form the choices are Love or Fear. There is a tramp on the street going through the rubbish bins (fear) oh get rid of him shoo him on, or he might attack me so call the police (Love) see the person a human suffering regardless of choice or circumstance talk to him, offer him clean clothing a meal. Love is all you need simply means as you float between the rocks and stones of life try your best to make your choices with Love, not fear. Fear is primal, survival inadequacies, all good if we are living rough as a species but we sit at the upper apex of our consciousness as a society Primal or survival triggered reactions while still real are still a choice. Love is all you need
Great video, pity JK's voice appeared to be almost totally shot.. But nonetheless would have been an awesome gig to go to. Wonderful song/tune heartfelt lyrics, and with a good twist. Maybe SM will pack up soon, maybe they can continue.. One thing I do know, anyone who gets the chance to see these live again, they should do so. This quality of musicianship, intelligence of song crafting and genuine longevity in the music business, is becoming rare. I struggle to listen to the radio these days because in my opinion most of what is being pumped through the airwaves is desperately poor compared with this.
Brill band brill song..enjoyo it but not quite up to the high mark of the original…please don’t hate .. just they were so good..think this may be an orchestration issue like Noel diamond of late trying crackling rose😍
The lead singer can't hit those notes anymore and is totally off key ..sad to watch..the fantasy of listening to the radio version is still alive though.,..the reality is kinda sad though..i have seen enough live shows to realize this is common..very few artists can pull it off live to where they make it sound exactly like the radio version..those few artists that can are gems..the rest are dissapointing and kind of ruin the fantasy created by the radio version
Tailhook MD let's see you sing for hours on end and still belt out a song like you only just got on stage. If you had been there you'd have known this was at the end of the concert. Jim was knackered at the end of the night as he'd given it everything all night!
