I have spent few hours listening to them and the Z7s and I tell you I fund only very subtle differences. I ended up buying the MDR Z7s for like 300US compared to 1800US of the Z1Rs. Very similar sound signature with a little less highs hardly discernible and a gentle difference in mids but the differences are so small that for the price have not comparison. Try the Z7s...
It's on the extreme polar end of the scale. It's close back so the sound stage is much narrower, but the vocals are forward and the bass are meaty. They can be overwhelming on its first 50 hours but after burning it in, it becomes very satisfying. It's good for instrumental as well, just not necessarily orchestral.
@@jungleking9703 yeah nah I was wrong. The soundstage of the z1r is one of the widest for closed-back headphones. HD800 is like having a band playing for you in concert hall, but z1r is like having a band playing for you in a recording studio (relatively large one as well, just with a lot more controlled sound). I just didn't appreciate it as much as I do now, now that I clocked 2 hours a day for almost two years.

The One it all depends on the genre of music you listen to, and what your perfer. For me I like a warm clear lively sounding headphone with an amazing bass response that doesnt effect the midrange so in that case the z1r is the headphone for me.

It's the best leather. Natural leather shoes are the most comfortable. Natural leather ear pads are so comfortable and durable as well. Synthetic leather isn't that great and it's durability from the headphones that I have is bad.
