He's an original and there will never be another like him. Great personality, singular vision and always full of joy. If you hate him..... it would probably make him smile and have a witty line about it. What a great way to live your life.
His last statement says so much because as an outsider he changed more than most insiders put together ever did. Thank you John Waters for being who you are and bringing joy to my life. I adore you.
I love you John Waters. Thank you for making me happy for so many years. I can still quote lines from your films like "Polyester", " Crybaby", and "Hairspray". I hope you live for many years and create more.
My God I love this man. I have all his books. I wish he would do one more movie before he goes. I can't imagine what he would come up with after the life he's had.
This man has been my top hero since I saw Pink Flamingos in '72 at the NuArt Theater's Midnight Premiere. I'm 73 now and still find time to watch it and many other of his films. I love them and I love John and all those he introduced. ❤
I use to live in B'more and like many residents, had a JW sighting in Fell's Point. I love John's work and style. I'd fly to B'more to see this exhibit.
I remember seeing Pink Flamingos and looking around the theater before sinking low into my seat in case I knew anyone. I was grossed out and laughed a lot and went on to see his other movies. I even got to stand behind Tab Hunter at the concession line of the Nuart Theater when I saw Polyester. I’m glad John Waters is being celebrated.
SO, they're flipping out about Hairspray, the "Mainstream Movie Version" At some point, if you and Divine are Interested, of course I'd put on Pink Flamingos. Oh my God. I'm a little freaked out. Love, Don xoxo
Waters is a genius who created a style of filming and was blessed by a Star presence icon named Divine as leading Lady in his classic hits. God bless John Waters specially because I think he's agnostic.
Rita Braver, a wonderful journalist, is not an artist and so asks the typical, painfully simplistic kinds of questions one would expect. It would be meaningful if Waters could present the works in his collection as more than crazy and wacky. I am positive that sees them as more than just goofball crap, but by not acknowledging this he does a disservice to the various artists and their work. I'm thinking especially of the Tuttle piece shown at the beginning of the segment. A knockout piece by a incredibly important artist is reduced to a bad, one-line joke -- and so what is the general supposed to public think with Waters denigrating it??
This is completely misunderstanding what Waters is saying in this video. He's saying other people didn't appreciate the art but he found the beauty/value in the items. He's being positive.
With respect, many would conclude his father was correct ... it’s ‘CRAZY’ an underwhelming collection of stuff. He should take a long rest in the Rest Room. One good thing, at least John’s tattooed moustache shows a little perspective and some linear drawing skill 🤦♂️

He is a national treasure. Been a fan since the 1970's....and still am.
We need more John Waters in the world! ❤️
🙄
🤦♂️
if there were more john waters in the world, that'd kinda defeat his whole shtick
actually no, we need less boring heterosexuals...y'all are creepy!!
trump or Biden
I can't love John Waters enough!
Icon and inspiration! Baltimore and the universe is blessed to have him around.
I love his appreciation of Twombly. Great guy.
His last statement says so much because as an outsider he changed more than most insiders put together ever did.
Thank you John Waters for being who you are and bringing joy to my life. I adore you.
we are so lucky to have john waters
LOVE John Waters
One of the BEST .!!!!
im really grateful directors like these get the praise they deserve

I remember when he did an article on fashion where he wanted to issue violations to the fashion challenged. What a character!
John Waters is amazing. He must be protected at all costs!
The world needs more John Waters.
Love john, a truly wonderful human being.
John Waters as a living legend

The real deal.
Really great to see this! Thank you John!!
His clothing is quite the collection as well. That jacket with the rained-on shoulders is genius.
i pretty sure he wears full comme des garcons.
@@l.shepard45 Yeah I think it's exclusively what his wardrobe is made of. I guarantee the rain jacket is.
John Water, you, sir, are a work of art.
The greatest ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
god bless John Waters. He is exactly what this country needs right now.
I think that idea for bathrooms is the literal future.
4:56 Dad speaking his language. Now that's masterpiece.
I use to live in B'more and like many residents, had a JW sighting in Fell's Point. I love John's work and style. I'd fly to B'more to see this exhibit.
This guy is amazing.👍♥️
That wacky dude from Baltimore!! He IS unique though!!!
Absolutely love this! I love nutty art. It certainly makes a trip to the MOMA more interesting
LOVE THIS!

Did you experience _Polyester_ in Odorama?
@@RaymondHng I still have the card with the scents. I remember one of the smells was feet.
Great human being.
Beautiful. Beautiful Man.
Thank you.
My HERO
He is one of the few redemptive Americans of the 20th Century. Long live/love John Waters...
lol redemptive few?? more of us than in any other country honey
Love John, miss Divine.
He is ahead of his time and very funny
I'm going to Try this!!!
John

The only celebrity I’d be interested in meeting in person
This dude just stepped on a Carl Andre piece n he didn’t care such a goat
Great video.
Somehow the words "Prince Of Puke" don't seem to roll off Rita Bravers' tongue! 😸Great vid, long live JW!
SO, they're flipping out about Hairspray, the "Mainstream Movie Version" At some point, if you and Divine are Interested, of course I'd put on Pink Flamingos. Oh my God. I'm a little freaked out. Love, Don xoxo
yay!!!🐱💃🌹🌞
How I laughed!
Nan Goldin and John Waters collab? I head no idea! : )
Zap! Zap! Zap! Zap! Zap!
Doesn't John seem a little... "festive" to you?
Thank you so much for that "The Simpsons" quote from when he was a guest star.

"Filth are my politics, Filth is my life!"
Amazing... Pink Flamingoes basically predicted and foreshadowed the modern republican party 🤣
John Waters is GOD!!

A six minute clip and some want great discussions in art. Get over it.
Vincent Price was also a massive art collector and true connoisseur. He even went to London to studied towards a Masters Degree in Art History.
He makes trash, he collects trash.
Extended interview from this segment- it's good-

Everything comes out that man's mouth...
He hated it. They didn't like it. Geesh!!!
This is completely misunderstanding what Waters is saying in this video. He's saying other people didn't appreciate the art but he found the beauty/value in the items. He's being positive.
Olin se 100 joka kuunteli tämän....
I want to be able to have the power to change things? I heard the same statement on the History channel recently. It was in the 40's I think.
piece of taste🤣🤣🤣🤣
NFT’s of the last era
Have Republicans tried to ban John Waters yet? 😂
"Wacky and wonderful". OMG Sunday Morning, that is the lamest cliche in journalism. Right next to "doggone" jokes.
This offends me as an artist how is it that he can show off his art in an art gallery? At the same time, I'm struggling just to get by!
Art is anything, put an alarm clock on a bicycle seat and that is art. Take a year to sculpt something out of marble and that is art.
It's not art he created, just art he owns. It's a curated collection of stuff other people made
@@35mm21 Correct. Waters also makes works of art (which aren't half bad) and has had gallery shows of his own.
@@williamwaters4506 Overly simplistic statement that is borne of ignorance and cynicism.
He's John Waters. You're some rando on UA-cam 🤣
Library of Congress?👎🤮

It's all nonsenseivity!🤮
Con of sewers!
From underground film-maker to Establishment sellout.
Stupidity is limitless. Just like telling women gtotesque obesity is ok.
That's your opinion.
Imagine waking up on Sunday morning and coming to complain about women on a video about a male artist
“Stupidity is limitless?” You are so correct. Your second statement is proof of that.
