Moose Peterson takes a look inside his gear bag at some tools of the trade and discusses how you can get the most from them. Moose's Gear List bit.ly/MoosePet...
Absolutely a great video. The amount of information and clarity anyone could take from this is invaluable.I live near the sierras and consider them my home, maybe we will meet up crossing paths some time. Thanks again
he needs to explain the reason why its minimizing DOF is because your keeping the MIN, focusing distance and all other physical aspects of the lens the same, yet increasing the focal distance by whatever the teleconverter is. lets say a 500mm f4 lens with a 1.4x converter, so increasing focal distance changes DOF a lot, it will be much shallower, not only that, you will be able to shoot at 700mm and still have the same min, focusing distance as the 500mm and we all know how DOF is at MIN focus
It'd be especially helpful in videos like this one, where the speaker fields questions from the audience . . . questions that the "main" mic doesn't pick up very well.
lol.... he was talking about that flash +1 and -1 on body = 0... he had me real confused until he said they don't work like that now. No kidding. He had me going for a minute. The flash and body are separate exposures on the Nikon bodies.
Funny way to say that the flash does not affect a birds. But I have never had a problem using flash and birds, I use a better beamer, sometimes the first flash will make the bird jump a little, but I have never had it fly off from a flash. now me moving closer, yes of course. usually after you take a few photos, its no different the bird will stop twitching and jumping.
It's easier to cut a steak with a knife than with a spoon. While I'm still the one cutting the steak, the proper tool makes getting the job done easier.
his "basic" wildlife bag adds up to 33,726, cheap! Well, let's round it to 50k ....Man, i want to be sponsored by Nikon too...Good vid inspite of him trying to push products, and it could have been 1/10 the lenght but i learned a few things
The bit about coffee affecting the colours we see is not correct and the idea about left and right being better or worse at maths is extremely dubious and that is being kind.
ah cool! what a great video for trying and sell of all those over priced add-on's,and i am sure you use all of them! especially that over size screen you attache to your camera( being such a old fashion photographer!).also i am curious why you are pushing high end equipment onto others while promoting traditional values regarding taking a photo that should let you take descent pics regardless of what your holding? and either you are shooting in jpeg or you are doing a worth while degree of editing in camera raw! BS I SAY.
07:50 "Kelvin, you dont bake your cake at kelvin temperatures" Actually you could. Kelvin starts at -273c, meaning 273 kelvin is 0c. Why am I doing this? Trying to explain the SI system to Americans is pointless anyway. hehe. Just kidding:) Good video by the way.

Very informative. Thanks for sharing your 30 years of experience.
Thanks B&H!
@adslim9 We do use the audience mic on a case-by-case basis, but not every event calls for it. Thanks for watching.
Could listen to Moose for hours.... wait, I just did :) Excellent insight into a wonderful photographer.
Love this guy! Excellent knowledge of the craft!
Thank you B&H! You guys are awesome!

I shoot Nikon but I take many of my mushrooms photos with a Ipad mini because I can put the lens under the mushroom.

:D the honestest title.
Fantastic video!!!!
thumps up!!!
learned so much from thiss thank you! also as a side note moose kind of sounds like john c reilly
what happened to the audience mic? That was such a good idea, thanks anyways!
if moose chose Nikon for flash first then he must be ready to switch to canon for it's superior exrt system and with the 1DX - forget about it!

well, the audience questions is big part in this tipe of videos(tutorials)...thanks for the video anyway.
I think he is wrong about the TIFF vs. PSD file size. TIFF files will be smaller.
honestly, why is every B&H video so damn dark? what's in the bag and it's in shadow the entire time?
its dark so the people there can see the slide presentation behind him.

Okay? Okay, Okay, okay
Moose is a walking commercial. I would like to know what % of his income comes from selling random stuff.
The gear does NOT take the photograph! You "take" the photograph.
