I was on a jury for a murder case.
The woman, accused, was in her early 60s The man, dead, was in his mid 60s.
She was charged with murder 1st degree. The police had been to their house 10s of times. They fought like cats and dogs, especially after he came home drunk and got abusive. He kept a S&W .38 in his nightstand. She warned him if he ever hit her again she would shoot him where he stood. Two things were against her, she had brought the gun downstairs and she had threatened him in front of the police.
He came home drunk, punched her in the face and blacked her eye. She retrieved the gun and shot him where he stood in the living room.
The prosecutor/state said those actions proved it was a premeditated murder. The defense of course claimed it was in self defense. The reason for moving the gun down stairs was in case he abused her and she feared for her life. It is no different than why a person gets a carry permit. You do not plan to shot someone but you carry it in case you need to protect yourself.
Anywho, we asked if a lesser charge could be brought from the jury. Nope, the charge was 1st degree murder.
    12-0 not guilty.
It was proven those two threatened each other all the time so her threat to kill him wasn't a one time threat. The police didn't even take it serious at the time she said it.
She had moved the gun a couple weeks before the shooting. It wasn't like it was planned that night.
We agreed it was in self defense. That she indeed feared for her life.

From the onset when her defense attorney read the opening statement I was already 75% sure of her innocence.
Assuming everything he said was factual. To be perfectly honest, I'm not convinced that the prosecutor believed she was guilty. I believe that was the reason for murder 1 and not manslaughter.

I felt all the other jurors felt the same way as I did. Them two should not have been married but at the same time they both were exactly the same. Their fights were legendary within the police department.
Both mean and refused to back down from one another. Unfortunately he started hitting her and she did what was necessary to stop him. I honestly believe she was very sad and regretted it but felt her life was in danger that night.
I believe whole heartedly in the 2nd Amendment and The right to defend one's self. If she had hit him with a cast iron skillet and killed him the out come wouldn't have been any different.

She of all people knew EXACTLY what he was like and even assisted him in some of his nonsense by the girl he cheats on his girlfriends with. If she didn't know then fair enough but she knew and she still did it. She's no saint and crap that happened to her was a result of her own stupidity. What kind of love is that? She got her revenge alright but she's not innocent either. She's guilty of wrecking other girl's lives as much as he is. She knew he was doing all of this stuff and didn't even try to stop it or even report it. She's guilty of aiding his criminal activities against those girls and is just as guilty as he is and super stupid for even falling in love with that kind of person

In the 1970s a friend of mine lived on a trailer park. Their grouchy old neighbour who hated everybody, sprayed all along the boundary fence for Weeds, with paraquat and diquat. This leeched under the fence and my mates little girl became ill with secondary poisoning, traced through to his spraying. He got revenge by scattering bread crusts on his flat roof, thus attracting hoards of pigeons, crunching about, making a hell of a racket, as soon as it got daylight. My mate and his wife and kids moved out onto a far better site two years later, oh, he also dosed the neighbours van with copious servings of sugar in the fuel tank.

A LOT OF B.S. STORIES! I'll just address the most blaringly obvious one. You can't just call up a tow company and have them tow a car. You have to prove ownership or authority to enact a tow, such as by police authority or private land owner whose property has been trespassed and the car needs removed. You also can't just call a junk yard and say such and so car is coming in. Crush it. You have to legally sign over the car, providing title and showing your I.D. Otherwise, anyone who's mad at anyone could have their car towed and crushed. If you're going to lie, at least make up something believable.

She is an absolute psychopath, there is so many things that I would love to say to this person in person. Obviously I don’t know how bad her childhood nor the bullying actually was, but for real? You are at least twenty years old when this happened (probably like 30) and you decide to do this to someone? She literally tore this persons life into a billions pieces just because she bullied you when you were 10 or something like that. Guess what I got bullied everyday when I was younger, I was a of an outcast who switched from living with either grandparents until my parents saved enough money to buy our house when I was 11/12 and guess what I didn’t ruin my bullies lives I went to his work after a few year of not being bullied after we matured and dapped his ass up and said hey we chill he said yeah so we chill. It wasn't the 1st day of school, they waited until he recovered to send him & even if it was 1 of the very few states with more school days, the total amount of days just doesn't add up. It's more then legally required. Also it wouldn't prevent the kids from enrolling in a normal school somewhere else. Also I highly doubt the mother would have got 22 years. Recording convos is actually a One party law in a lot of states, you largely just have to give a person the heads up that you are recording conversations. Recording video is when things get really sticky legally, you actually have to have written documentation for release. With how much stuff I've been through in my life, I wholly and firmly believe that, if you feel the need to record conversations for your own protection and overall safety, fuckin do it. If you even have to ask the question to yourself, then cover your ass and you should have been documenting via paper already.

Taken a punch been thrown against a wall and pushed more times than I can count protecting them. Hell I even held one of their daughters wrists stemming the blood as she fought me and begged me to let her die.
I wouldn't be in that position because I would never allow myself to be put in that position. If a romantic partner hell if anyone I knew raped me they are either going to jail or going to be dead before their is a second time.

@@alderblanco2362 I have seen hundreds of cases of domestic violence. Most where regulars at the crisis center I volunteered at. You clean them up give them all the details of what resources are available to help them we had police lessons that could help with restraining orders pressing charges. You give them a safe place all necessities for them and the kids to take any steps they want to to get themselves out of the situation and most times the don't or they get out of one bad relationship and into the next. And this boohoo I am the victim bs does not help. The only way the abuse stops is when they take accountability for how they got into the situation. You can't stop a person from abusing you but you can stop being their for them to abuse. You can't expect a potential partner to tell you they are abusive it's up to you to see the signs. You can't change others actions only your own and until they accept they need to change the abuse keeps going and it always ends up on the children.
Years of experience has taught me they don't stay because they have no where to go they don't stay because they have no money they don't stay for the sake of the kids. They don't stay because they have no support. They stay because they are scared not of the violence but that they will be alone no one else will want them.

I just can’t go on. I love stories like this but the narrator’s way of pronouncing str as sHtr is SO distracting, I just don’t want to hear it any more.

What a c*nty thing to say 😂 it’s just a different pronunciation that obviously did not interfere with your comprehension. My God, do you bully people with accents other than your own in real life too?

You know the Jim and Betty story it was better the first time I was told and it wasn't a daughter it was a son any shots of the trailer up and he didn't realize it until the rain was pouring through it later on and he had lived in a trailer with the rainforest it is a bullshit story the first time around with it being about a son Eddie's dad coming back to find that his relatives had fucking and basically destroyed his trailer with their own son
