These were really roomy, spacious cars and with the front bench seat and column chnage one could happily get a driver and two girlfriends in the front (plus more in the back). Todays cars are safer no doubt but the 'cockpit' front compartments prevent any access across the car - and much less easy to get your arm around your girlfriend!
Had loads of these Mk2s, great cars, just sold my 58 Hi Line Zodiac, although i prefer the Zephyrs, and the Consul is the Rock N Roll car, im happy with my two Metropolitans, much more fun than these and more unusual
I had 2 high line Zodiacs 2 tone lower cream upper part in torquise The first in 1969 a rather scuffy example I swopped for 1962 3a Rapier and £40( bad move) The 2nd in 1974 bought for £12 with 2nd gear defuncke Parts from a Ford dealer cost£6.50 to repair all done on the kitchen floor. Gear box in and out in a surburban Street. £sold the car for£30 inbetween I had a Zephyr 6 Mk3 a very rusty car.
Good to see some real beautifuly restored Fords
