But anyways, You did have a point at the end that “if Suckerpunch made this nobody would bat an eye”. As Murray was a nerdy fatso comic-relief in Sly 1 & then his whole Super Hero Wrestler persona (while you could argue was hinted at) came out of nowhere in Sly 2. There wasn’t any proper screen time build up for Murray’s change from 1-2 yet people accepted it because Suckerpunch.

But my statement isn’t referring to the change of Murray’s character, it’s referring to how his growth from Sly 1-2 was off screen so we as the viewer/player in this scenario didn’t see his point of view like we did from Sly 2-3. We’re left with the interpretation of that’s how his character progresses. The idea of McSweeney changing his mind off screen on how he viewed the Cooper clan isn’t improbable. As like I said before, Murray evolved as a character off screen. It’s all a matter of execution. Do I personally see McSweeney as the same level threat as Clockwerk & Dr. M? Hell no, he was just the muscle of his previous team & he was past his prime so I don’t find him all that intimidating as a main antagonist. But we have yet to see the full script of this fan fic so we just have to wait.

I think mcsweeney should be a villain that would evoke sympathy towards him and make him more than a one dimensional character. I didn't follow that much the arguing, maybe it's for this reason that he didn't seem aggressive to me, just trying to explain an idea you could add in the whole project, but honestly if all the point was to add a sort of intro (a chapter or 2) where Sly would play along with Carmelita pretending to be an agent, but in the mean time helping his friends who would look for him from the distance, I personally say fudge yeah! it would be an awesome intro to your seemly good storyline in my opinion, just to continue a little of a bit of Sly3 ending, and then going into the main story with Sly revealing that he has not lost his memory and his true intentions to the police department, by rejoining his entire band along with bentley and murray (it could be a nice explanation even for the Carmelita kidnapping from the other ((corrupt?)) agent, the wolf, don't remember if he got already a name, cooperating with Sweeney)
I don't think Constable Cooper is that viable. Mostly because I can't see Interpol buying the amnesia excuse without testing it. It could work like the tv show "White Collar" where a thief works for the cops to catch other thieves. But Sly would have to drop the memory act.
