Nice! Think for me it was issue 160 of white dwarf, the one where they released Man o War. I read that thing cover to cover, a bunch of times. Every now and then I check eBay to see if I can find the starter set for a decent price. Maybe one day...
Ha that's cool! I never played man o war but it looked awesome. My first White.Dwarf was the first Necromunda one where you got a free house Goliath model
My first models for 40k were a box of Devastators which I believe came as a paint set. Since there was no flesh tone, I painted the unhelmeted Sergeant blue as well! As for Fantasy, I believe it was Goblins. Their moon-shields are really iconic.
My first time seeing anything warhammer was in a white dwarf mag and it was the old old plastic warlord titans so I ended up catching a ferry across the Thames River to a little hobby shop that had some GW stuff and the owner would split the boxes and sell each model I brought one for £1.50 and was hooked that must be 29 years ago
I got into 40k in the early 90's through some friends at school. Rogue trader times! Bought a couple of boxes of plastic space orcs, must've been about 30 or so in a box back then, some metal dreadnoughts, warbuggys and a land Raider (?) As a looted tank! Got in to warhammer Fantasy and Space Marine (epic) a few years later and they were my main games there after. Loved all those old models, spent a small fortune on them, and got most of my money back over the last 2 years selling it all off as it was just collecting dust! Still got some left which I both want and don't want to sell! Ah the memories.
@Peacetime Painting yeah I had 10 bases of snotlings I sold, unpainted, some glued on some loose. I had no idea what they'd go for, so put them to auction rather than my usual buy it now, thinking I'd get about £15-20. Sold for £75!!
This was a really lovely story. Thank you for sharing 😊

Aye I love those Shields!
It's quite pleasant to hear someone's story about entering this -rabbit hole of- hobby.
How did you get into it?
@@PeaceTimePainting I'm hitch on this hobby during the fall of Cadia event, and the rest is history

Woah that sounds awesome tbh! Was the titan 40k scale or Epic scale?
@@PeaceTimePainting it was the old epic adeptus titanicus add on the epic spacemarine game
