I am a pilipina but I agree to vicka that questioning about baby’s appearance is very weird. Dapat talaga ang mas importateng bigyan ng attention is the baby’s health and the new mom’s health. Napanasin ko na kapag dumadalaw sa bagong panganak ang attention lang ay nasa baby na kung tutuusin ay dapat yung nanganak ay dapat bigyan din ng pansin dahil sya ang totoong naghirap.

For Asian or Filipinos when they ask whom the baby looks like it doesn't mean weird or mean thing.Sometimes if the baby looks like the father or mom they will give a nickname like "little vicka" and makes the family happy when being called because the baby is cute.

For me, I grew up thinking we ask sino kamuka because it's a way to bring pride to the parents- in a wholesome way. For instance, we point out what features is like the dad's and it makes the dad proud. Similarly to kanino nag mana... it's more of something to be proud of. Like with my daughter, they say mana sa ninang which brings her Ninang hapiness and joy when in reality they have no blood relation. It's more of a nice gesture over anything.
Nakakairita lang talaga din minsan, kapag sinasabi yung ganyan , yan pa inuna imbis tanungin kung okay ba , so proud of you kasi kinaya mo at healthy kayo , nakakasawa sino kamukha sino kamukha psh kairita kaya

For Steamer no need to place underneath a PARCHMENT PAPER . If you notice there's a space or hole ,the purpose to let the steam penetrate over the SIOMAI . If you place a parchment paper it takes time to cook or reheat the food , better remove the parchment paper to save LPG gas ..
Either brush the steamer with oil fisrt or make tiny holes into the baking paper before before you cook it.

Yes I think that's a thing from Asia not only in the Philippines. Here in South Korea, they do the same. When I had my baby with my korean husband, his family and friends asked the same thing: "How's the baby looks like?" "Sino kamukha?"Mukang fil or korean?" "Ung ilong, mata, kulay knino nakuha etc etc") 😅 that's a normal thing for us.

Kasi vika, mostly reason is we don't ask health ng baby because ayaw namin madagdagan ng stress yung magulang kung sakaling may diperensiya yung sanggol pagdating sa kalusugan. Usually din kasi kapag nakikita namin nung nagdadalantao pa yung babae ay alagang alaga, unang dumadating sa isip namin ay maayos ang sanggol. Pero kalimitang dahilan ay yung naunang nabanggit.
