In the same live performance, she also sang "A different kind of Human" while just sitting on the floor. It is one of her most impactful performances. Especially considering that allegedly Siljas mother died the day before the performance. Since the song is in a way about death. And then she sings "Oh mother, are you dreaming of me in your sleep?" and the camera focuses on Siljas face, I always break down.
She wrote it in 2017 and released the MV during lockdown, she never disappoints in her live performances and always stay magical ! Just wait till you hear "Giving in to the love" For me I fell in love with that song in minutes!
Yeah, no wonder you get entranced like a snake. And what a great way to put it. A wonderful performance from you, which they so deserve. Those doubles are great, man.
The video was made during covid lockdown. She directed it herself, and the dancers are her friends. It is filmed locally in Bergen. They used what they had, and made most self. The headpice is made from pearls she removed from old clothes, it took 3 days. The audio is from the original "demo" recording. She said they are not perfect, but they have a "feel / warmt" that she would "keep".
The sounds of this song even date back to the 30's and 40's. So nice that O. Martin and Silja could come back to help out for this performance, it was flawless. I've seen a few recent concert recordings of Aurora with a backing band of Magnus on drums, a male on keyboard/synth and another male on guitar, and, while they are great performances I find them wanting for that female backup vocal that is missing. Some of her performances have even used some of her own vocal samples on the synth to fill in on some songs. I hope she finds another female backup vocalist eventually.
This one is my favorite because i normally listen to 30s 40s jazz 🤗 its such a dreamy tune thank you it was nice enjoying it with you ❤❤❤ 😭😭 silja is so perfect with aurora heck
Hi Mike. Great reaction, thank you. Unfortunately I can only hit like once :-) I think the music video with the dancers is referencing music from even further back to the 1920s or 1930s. Aurora has said in interviews, that she was lucky to experiencing this kind of love back when she wrote the song in 2017. She also said this about the song during a live stream in 2021: "'Exit For Love' is the 1st love song I ever wrote. But as most of my songs, it has a much larger and deeper meaning than just love between 2 individuals. I believe that love is one of the strongest forces we have on this planet and in us people, and I believe that once we learn true, pure and unselfish love, we are reminded of why we exist, and I think we understand why we are here once we learn that, that kind of pure love exist, which is quite beautiful. And I love many things....and many people." There is another song "Potion For Love" which is connected to this, it was on the B-side of the single for Exist For Love. Unfortunately there are no music video or live version only audio versions. Here is one with lyrics: youtu .be/cXkbwOUn2ko
Cool reaction. It is not my favorite of hers but it is great song. Especially love live version (much more then studio one). Also when I heard it for a first time I had feeling I listened it somewhere already, but I guess it is because it is like "retro style" from past moved to present time :).
You should definitely checkout cure for me and giving into the live the music videos and her 4th album "the gods we can touch" is coming out on 21.1.22 ⚔️🩸⚔️
I really wonder WHO this song is about..... A lot of her songs concerning love are very _universal_ rather than personal. But this one is clearly personal. She's always talked about being so not into relationships...preferring a genuinely free love kind of life. But, I also wonder if this song is specifically about Magnus(her drummer). The two of them are incredibly close. Just watch the Once Aurora documentary and it's obvious they have a special connection that feels like it goes beyond just friendship. Also...months after Magnus left the band, he surprised Aurora on stage one night as she sang this very song. He sat on the floor looking up at her with just a ton of admiration and love. And she looked like she was legit about to cry. idk....maybe they're just very very good friends. But I like to imagine she wrote this song with him in mind. :}
hmmmm.....are you thinking of the Cardigans' song Love Fool? I think that's what it's called? Funny...I'd never made any connection between these two songs....but now that you point it out, yeah, I can hear it a bit. It's not that similar....but there is a certain tone to the vocals and a melodic contour that's ever so slightly similar. Good ear!
I totally missed on that. I think you should not read the lyrics before hearing it. It takes away something on your reaction compared to seeing and hearing it the first time. This is so beautiful. Still some good old songs you need to hearing, like "running with the wolves"
i always ask myself what they are doing with her voice while recording, they filter her to death. live she is brilliant. the studio version? no thanks!
Odd Martin , Magnus , Silja and Aurora has known each other since 2014. No wonder why they always sound so perfect
