Moist is one thing you don't want when working with a Lincoln welder in the field. Built a similar round Corral and chutes for a friend. Did it in the winter time with wet slushy snow on the ground , and the old gray Lincoln welder though. Thought the Rubber overshoes and leather welding gloves would insulate me enough until I drop down on one knee to get the bottom rod Fastener welded. Fell over to the side shaking like a leaf at first Ark.!.! "I don't claim to be smart , but I am a pretty good welder".

Cole. I hope your joking about bed bugs.

Red ant powder posion kills them. Put some in the seams of the matress and other areas they hide for a couple of days then vacume it out.
Use a commercial steam cleaner you rent at a local big box store then let it dry.
Hot wash all clothing and bedding with the point then repeat twice to wash that out.
The same poisin is good for roach and other pests that are difficult to get rid off.
      Including mice of all things.
Just sprinkle it where they track.
      It's seriously nasty stuff.

Hey Cole, here is a suggestion for a winter project. Build your self some steel saw horses with flat tops that you can clamp stuff to. It will be a lot easier to work standing up than bending over to the floor. When i started my first cabinet shop, the first thing i did was build a bunch of sturdy saw horses to build stuff on. I also use a big assembly table. The saw horse idea migh be better, you can stack them out of the way when not in use, you could also get an airless sprayer and prime them with rust proof primer while they are on the horses.

The other day I watched a video by KyFarmerman titled Millet Tour, Fence is done. Put your welder on a pallet or other base but also put a strap around it. It’s a lot of money and it will take away the risk of tipping.

That was a great video. I love to watch someone else work. BTW - those gates are pretty. I was going to buy a 16 ft gate this sprin and my local wanted 925.00 for it. I switched to 2 8s at 325.00 each. I won't take too many gates to pay for that welder.

Cole...beyond the tensile strength, the MAJOR difference between 6011's and 7018's is how each rod is stored between uses. 6011's are commonly called 'mud rods' because you can throw them in mud, wipe them off and weld. Not so with 7018's - they need to be kept clean and moisture free once the seal on the original rod container is broken. If used where the welding is subject to any structural inspection like x-ray, etc., 7018's are required to be kept in a heat oven. I've used 7018's in places where if the rod was dropped on the floor/ground, that rod wasn't used, it was recycled as scrap. I was a certified 4G structural welder - I haven't kept my certification for about 12 years now but I can still weld. For your application, your stick welding is just fine. And YEP, Lincoln welders are the best in my book. Don't mean to upset Hobart fans or those folks who buy from Harbor Freight. Oh...one other FYI, invest in quality welders chaps, your body will thank you in later years...well actually in current time too given your 'welding position' fabing those gates! Lastly, given your knee situation, get yourself some couch cushions to kneel on. Keep a bucket of water handy if the cushions catch some hot sparks. Just some suggestions...

Add custom built "Cole" built gates to your new farm store. Much easier to build the exact dimension gate to specific farm field application, then to modify factory built gates. Could be a very profitable service and product to add to your farm store.

Probably doesn't translate very tough, but it's necessary for me nowadays. Maybe Lincoln will gift you a nice nomex gauntlet jacket? That'd be sweet.

Cole, protect those knees. Wear a sumo suit if you have to. Knee pads will always be better than the raw knee. I farmed, played pro Rugby and i'm heading in for a double replacement and i'm not even 50. Protect that back and those knees. Start lifting weights. Once you are healed fully start bulking up the arms, shoulders and legs.

Nothing beats a good stick set up when welding on rusty material .....Son, if you will permit me...I have been welding for over 50 years and it takes time, repetition and training to lay down a bead that will do the job as specified, and pass a beauty contest ...Will yours pass a beauty contest, no, but it will do the job as specified, and will sure as hell get the job done....Your welds don't look to bad ,so you continue on, confident that you possess the skills needed to maintain your farms needs.....#MoneySaved...
