Saint Francis in Meditation - A copy from Caravaggio. It is painted in oil and originalsize (130x90cm - 51x35 in).
I started on a coloured ground with the deepest shadows before the underpainting in white.
The cloak was mostly done with glazes. The skin was done in several layers of colour and a thin glaze at the end.

Absolutely beautiful. I love Caravaggio’s work, his style and subject-approach. You do this beautifully and it’s a great pleasure and relaxing to watch you work.
St.Francis is very special to me and I went to Assisi on my 50th birthday to visit his birthplace and his tomb.
I would love for you to do a tutorial where you explain the process, how to mix and apply glazes, the colours you choose for fabrics and flesh tones, the significance of painting first with white then with colour and especially the colour you tint the canvasses with before you begin.

What a color is called "the deepest shadows' in the beginning of the painting? Umbra Burnt or Black?
It's a burnt umber and a little bit of bone black.
Which colour did you use for this
Hi sir can I ask what kind of oil you used?
The oils are my own ones, I do colours by myself. For thinning the paint I take linseed oil varnish or selfmade blackoil.
