I thought The Killers of the Flower Moon was great, in part, because the author is a great writer. Besides the incredible history of the suddenly wealthy but vulnerable native Americans, it traces the start of the FBI.
I added Perfect Peace to my TBR. I have read The Bee Sting. It was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 2023. I thought it was really good. The last chapter will make your heart race.
you already know I love James McBridge and his gazillion characters. You may want to listen to Killers of the Flower Moon while you read. The story is wild. I enjoyed it. It made me mad and is actually mind boggling that this actually happened and how it was able to happen to the Osage. Diabolical. The parts on the formation of FBI were a bit dry. Interesting list. A lot of books. Of course Perfect Peace for the win.
What s list! Can't wait to see which ones get selected. Years ago I saw the movie adaptation of A Man Called Ove--I found it a bit depressing. I want to read Killers of the Flower Moon.
Well, Pottstown, PA, USA is my neck of woods, so McBride's book, "The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store," would be intriguing for me. "The Wager" and "The Housemaid" read like movie material.
If you're talking about my affiliate to Blackwell's ally have to do is click the link and purchase a book and it is counted to me. There is no page for me or with my name.
Although you could read A God in Ruins first - I personally wouldn’t recommend it. I think you would lose a lot without having the events of book 1 Added A Girl Returned to my TBR - sounds great! The three Body problem is a Netflix series so you could cheat lol
You're right. McBride's book is so much more than the blurb. Hope it and Perfect Peace are selected.

So enjoy this vicarious romp through your Normandy Bookclub😊

A diverse list as always. Very interested to see what the short list ends up as.
Thank you Jennie! Video should be up on Friday.

Yeah those adaptations are so unpredictable. I hear it's really good Killers of the Flower Moon.
Time flies! I can't believe it's already time for this again!
Yes this year of 2024 is flying by.....

I was afraid of that for The Housemaid.😩
Cool list except for the excess crime/mystery. Now I’m off to see what got picked!
Agreed!
Your affiliate link does not link me to your page. I cut and paste the full/whole as I should to no avail...??

@@browngirlreading Gotcha! Thanks.
I don't think you need to read Life After Life to enjoy A God in Ruins, but it will add a layer of you have.
Ok if you say so Judy but I really don't like starting series like that.
@@browngirlreading I loved Life After Life, but it's not for everyone. It is odd that someone submitted a God in Ruins instead of Life After Life.
@@judybrown1624 There's always somebody who does this. I don't understand why.🤦🏾♀
