Igor, congrats on your Pontus. I really think the type of music and speakers play a role in which option I choose. With the Magnepan, I used OS slow filter but with Fyne speakers, I found myself liking more the NOS. Just play with it and I am sure your ears/brain will determine which mode you prefer. Comparing the Fyne to this is very instructive. This has depth and sounds like concerts I have personally heard with him. He is usually up front. The others are in a u shape behind him. This captures that. Also the synthesiser is very separated an the timbre is clearly it's own.
Have you tried with tweeters on the outside? Much bigger/taller soundstage, fyi. Just make sure the tweeters aren't closer to you than the other ribbon speakers. Tried both, sounds more live on the outside, IMO.

Hello, yes the subwoofers were on but at a very low crossover (40 or 50hz) I am a big fan of Magnepan and personally, I prefer the Maggies over Martin Logan but I always recommend to audition before you buy your next speakers.

@@craigcoughlin1834 yes that is ultra rendu. I thought about going to Hegel 190 or 390 but this particular modified Atoll is pretty darn good and sounds great to my ears. It’s really all about Synergy and the combo I have so far sound great at least for now lol.
Not sure what these people are hearing, from my end with active speakers in place, it sounds boomy, suspect the subs are not inline with the maggies. Nice amp, nice dac, nice maggies, get rid of the subs and or substitute them with a pair of Rel t5x or 7's.
@@boniccie I think they're very tickler about setting up placement, and always thought they have to be about 6 feet from the wall quite close to side walls, quite a bit of padding behind the drivers they like their space

Those are not Magnepan 1.7i's, they appear to be LRSs. The border areas are too thin and the 1.7i stands are missing.

Very impressive how the little Atol drives these Maggies. Can I ask why you replaced the Hegel? I’m looking for an amplifier for my .7i.
Craig, I replaced the Hegel because I needed an amp with stronger current to drive the Maggies. The Atoll does that perfectly @200W/4ohm

I believe the SE version which is special edition has better caps and definitely sounds superior.

which subwoofers do you use??
I am using a pair of Anthony Gallo subs. They are very fast and match well with the Maggies and also cheaper than REL.

i still have the Fyne F501. the Magnepan sounds way bigger but also needs a lot of space which represents an issue in my room.
Magnepan is great. The sub sounds so-so.. Unpleasant. May be there is a signal delay or so...
