Hi Tony, cracking video and review as usual - will be checking Rever out (currently use Waze). As a keen motorcyclist and a horse rider it was great to see you pull over. It is massively appreciated by horse riders and nearly always it is motorcyclists who are the most accommodating. Most people think horse riders take horses on the road for the sake of it. I only ever ride on a road as a very last resort when trying to get to another field and because I don't have horse box. Thanks again for a great video sir.
I purchase a 1 year subscription for Rever. So far it seems a little glitchy. Maybe I don't have all the setup proper. So I am going to give it a fair chance. Thanks for all your help on this.
Outstanding video review and superb example of courtesy for stopping for the horses. We could do with a little more of that over on this side of the Atlantic.
I downloaded and tried this one. It's a "NO GO" for me. #1 It's on a phone that if you loose signal you are TOAST. #2 It's on a phone that you can't see in bright sunshine. #3 It's on a tiny screen. #4 A dedicated GPS does NOT rely on cell towers and is easier to read. I have been using a "Beeline" unit and their software. EFFING bulletproof! You can download their software for free on their sight. Works on your phone and you can buy the BEELINE pointer for mounting on your bike. I have a unit on all my bikes now. Genius Tech. Even if your phone craps out it will still remember the route albeit without route updates. Best thing I ever bought!!!! Great channel SIR!!! 🙌👏👌✌🖖🤙👍👋🙂

I've had several complications with rever. The "auto pause" is real fun. I was at a stoplight in heavy traffic. Light turns green. A minute later, I look to see where my turn is at and my screen shut off. No biggie, I can hit a button with gloves. Now it wants my fingerprint or pattern. Not safe to do in heavy traffic. This was the 3rd attempt to use the app. The first 2 attempts: the screen froze, next I was unable to put route in. Oh yes, also, you can't get turn by turn Navi unless u pay for Rever Pro...
I must admit, I now prefer not to use my phone for navigation. I find a dedicated gps or something like the Beeline are a better/simpler option, for some of the reasons you've stated.
I use Scenic, looks similar. Not really bothered about the social side of things and thought the Calimoto was too expensive for the limited use I would have of it
Yep I’ve used Scenic too which is really good, I like the desktop route planner on this app. Having said that I still use my TomTom Rider 550 quite a bit

@@mancavemotoThe default for biking is obviously to choose the twisty roads & certainly Calimoto can take you down some random routes if you’re not careful - it’s a case of be careful what you wish for! 😂

Does anyone have any idea why the discovery function on the app doesn't work at all? I paid money specifically to be able to discover nice routes, but no matter where I try to search on the map, not a single ride shows up. The category doesn't matter either, they all are blank. I have tried on several phones, so I know it's the app itself. Thoroughly frustrated that the whole purpose of the app doesn't even work. Thanks for any help, I'm about ready to cancel my plan with this app
I just started using the app, so I can’t speak to much. However I did notice that it sometimes takes a few minutes for the route markers to load on the Discover screen. I thought there were none in my area at one point as well.
Tony great review as always. Quick question. I don’t often ride near any horses, did you pull over and turn off your bike to keep them calm or was it just a coincidence? Btw my step brother lived on Dick avenue and he was quite thrilled when he moved away. 😀
Thanks, yes I stopped specifically for the horses. I tend to do it all the time unless the rider waves me on. It only takes a few seconds and I’d rather that than spook the horses. I usually end up having a nice chat with the riders too
I'm using an 8" Samsung Active 3 for navigation. All the mapping apps I've tried so far, dim the screen presumably to forestall the screen burn-in. Does Revver give you a chance to keep the screen bright so it can be seen in bright sunlight?
I found that if you miss the starting point at the beginning of travel, the navigation remains hooked at that point and the indications become a total mess. No matter if you return to path in a couple of meters.
Great review. I am looking for something like this to replace my old TomTom app that I loved for all around navigation including winding roads type routes that I love to follow with my little roadster. Or should you have two apps, one for the winding back roads functionality and one for general motorcar navigation??
The biggest problem I've had is when I deviate from the planned route Rever doesn't recalibrate a new route automatically. I have to pull over and reset my route. Very annoying. I've stopped using it and just use Google Maps.
I agree that if I go off route and the ap doesn't recalculate automatically then it's nearly useless. No one want to have to pull over and reset a route.
