I lived there for about 12 years. Every year there were storm's. We had about 4 or 5 close calls and one started twisting the house onthe foundation. My kids and I were living about 1 street away from 4th street where it crossed the highway. We got some light damage to our house. The real terrifying thing was that we were in my car, across the highway. It was coming straight at us. I couldn't comprehend what I was looking at. My kids could and yelled, "There it is!", pointing at it. I floored it, south. Away from it's path. I was easily going 60 mph when I went through that intersection they were recording from. You can see the light and the water tower. I don't know if you see my car. Debris was coming down as we raced south. I'm so glad we moved away. I don't miss the heat. I don't miss the storm's. I really think there are an extraordinary number of people suffering PTSD there just from the tornados. If I remember correctly, exactly 7 days later there were a bunch of smaller tornados that skipped around town. There were EF-0's to EF-3's? I can't remember. I really hated that town.
You and your kids are strong, it must’ve been a gut wrenching feeling. I’ve never lived in tornado country and I’ll very likely keep it that way. God bless you and your family hope you are doing well!

My parents lost their house in this tornado, my daughter and my Grandbabies were in their shelter with my mother. I was at work in Norman. What is a 15 minute trip from Norman to Moore took me 3 1/2 hours. I cried the entire time.

As a siren enthusiast that lives in Arkansas I can confirm I’ve gone outside multiple times to hear the siren and there was a tornado hitting a town near mine a few weeks ago and that was the first time I heard a Thunderbolt siren in person because the DSA on the Air Force base didn’t go off
Alabama is worse. Trust me, tornado fatality count is much higher then that of Oklahoma. The great plains are well known for their name. Plains. Open fields. Unpopulated areas, mostly. Not Alabama.
That tornado is an evil-looking beast!! I remember watching this on the news up here in Toledo, Ohio, and the Weather Channel was tracking it in real time as well. Awesome video!!!
@@zachj9359 Listen to how quiet it is. Either the blower failed to activate or it has a very bad air leak. Theres no way the siren could've been drowned out by the wind unless something like that actually happened.
No cop is going to worry about the red light at that time. They will be more worried about keeping people away from the tornado assisting traffic that sort of thing
One of the pastors at my church is from Ada Oklahoma. He said some people living in Oklahoma are used to it and they know pretty much what they can and can't do depending on the size of the tornado.
Some people in oklahoma don't pay any attention to the weather. They just ignore it. Then they are surprised by the tornados. Me, I planed my life around the weather.
I'm from London, England I must say those tornado sirens scared the shit out of me!. Why was that guy outside during a tornado warning had that been me I would be shitting myself!.
I've seen people walking dogs and mowing the lawn while a supercell rolls in. May not have been a tornado but there was definetely enough lightning to keep me near the house lol
Certain towns in UK have Carter-Gent sirens to warn them of floods, but I rarely ever hear of tornados anywhere besides USA. Carter-Gents are my favorite...
I lived in Moore for 4 years. I lived through a bad EF-3 in 2009; and I had just moved to Tulsa when this EF-5 hit. This was an eerie video for me to watch, because this is SE 19th St. that we are looking down. I lived in the neighborhood just to the left of the screen.
i'm weirdly interested in tornados so i've seen a lot of the chaser videos for different storms but every time i watch coverage of the may 20th one it just gives me chills
This is one of those traumatic days you will never forget even if you didn’t live in Moore. We have no storm shelter and the news would explain that the tornado would keep changing paths and we had no idea where to go. We live close to Moore so we got in the car and drove (not a good idea but it was our only option) it was terrifying. I’ll never forget that night
That is terrifying, And not knowing when one of those things will come down out of the sky right overhead without notice of one being on the ground all;ready would cause me to never be able to sleep. I would be the crazy neighbor who sleeps in her underground shelter every night
You learn to live with it.. and you learn your tornado "Plan" seek shelter and hold on. Lol that's about the best you can do. Have your storm bags ready water, food etc if you have pets scoop them up and head for safey.
I have all the stuff that is valuable in my bag so i can run in my shelter once i hear the siren turn on. if not then i would be wstching koco5 news or my dad normsly watch it.
When I lived in Kansas over 20 years ago I remember just hearing of a tornado warning and everyone stayed home but I see things have changed. Was this rush hour or are people not phased by sirens anymore?
Also tornados happen very quickly. Sometimes in a matter of a few minutes so people are gonna be out as we do. Once the tornado has formed most people take precautions. Most here are driving away from the storm.
What time of day was this?? There's so much traffic on the road, geeeeeez! Idk that I could patiently sit there behind someone stopped for the lights, my gawd!
When there Is severe weather it would Be recommended To go To The basement or shelter or lowest level in A Home or a building and stay away from windows and take Cover it's not required, but it's best to even if no tornado in case there Is one or if you don't know if There Is one or not until that storm is done.
I'm so sorry kiddo's. That was absolutely terrifying. My kids and I were living near the library when that one hit. I hope you got some therapy. My kids and I did and it really helped.
I'm thoroughly convinced that Moore Oklahoma is the epicenter of huge F5 tornadoes. It's where all the weather converges. The hot dry air from the southwest, moving across the plains. Pulling the humid air from the gulf states. With the cold air from the jetstream dropping down from the rockies.
@@Tc-rn8lh always wanted to see a tornado in person. Obviously don't want anyone to get hurt or worse, die. But I've always wanted to see a big well defined one
Fantastic video. Great shot's of the storm structure, including the mesocyclones. It seems most people jus focus on the ground shots but your vantage point shows the whole Storm!
Ai Enma Well you know what you are looking at. the average Joe looking at that will just see a dark sky. If you are in a neighborhood with trees..a massive tornado can get right on top of you before you know it. if it is rain wrapped.. Well knowledge is power.
11 days later the widest tornado would hit El Reno. I remember this tornado. I was eight at the time. Me and my family were in the truck going back home and we did not notice that there was an EF5 on the stinking ground. My dad had the radio on and it said there was an tornado on the ground. The closest I have ever been to a tornado is looking at the back of his truck, and seeing this tornado. We would go back home to get into the closet and pray that it would not hit us. If it would of followed us, we would not be alive right now. With EF5's you must be underground, chances are of you surviving is slim to none. A few days after the twister hit. This military soldier gave me and my siblings a little teddy bear, to cheer us up. I still have it in my room, although looking at it, it reminds me of this exact day. Then, 11 days afterwards, El Reno got hit by the widest tornado ever recorded, which resulted in 8 deaths. Quite devastating and terrifying. Someone was describing what happened to each of the 3 professional storm chasers, and let me tell you, that made me shook to my core. Whether you live here in Oklahoma or a state that gets tornados, please be careful y'all. Hearing that description made me realize that tornados are not playing around. I knew that tornados were destructive, but hearing what happened made it even worse and quite frightening. Their job is to destroy everything it gets its hands on, within the several minutes or hour it gets, before it dissipates. I know some people say that we sit out and watch tornados, of course we don't do that. As soon as I hear the whelms, I grab my belongings already by the door, with my shoes, and jacket, yell for my family to hurry and in the shelter we go. Waiting and waiting... in the warm shelter. Stay safe y'all, especially from the heat. Triple digits for a week; UNCALLED FOR! Don't y'all love weather?
Hello! The EF5 tornado was not near my house, but we were in the truck and so we were fleeing from it, as we were making it home. I was not close enough for it to pick up the truck, not that close at all. But I could look at the back window and see the twister from afar. It was not as close as you would think it was, but I thought it was going to follow us home. And I could not hear it, all I heard was cars honking, tornado sirens going off, the radio, my dad talking to us telling us what we’re gonna do once we got home, and rain hitting the windshield. It was chaotic, way too much things going on at once. The twister destroyed parts of our town and it was just incredible. That part of town is a well populated place, you have Walmart, Sam’s Club, Lowes, the Warren theater, a bank, Braum’s; it was absolutely terrifying.
Today is the first time that I had seen this video, they are filming this across the street from my house. I was at work in Norman when all of this was occurring and I knew it was coming close to my home, this video really brings home how close it really did come.

They're adrenaline junkies. They love it. Still, it is very admirable. Some law officers keep driving around town warning people about a tornado in progress long after they should have taken cover themselves.
Is tornado spin counterclockwise ? Or depends some time clock wise some time counterclockwise Is tonado spin only counterclockwise then this is koreolis force. Right? That means that tonado iact as a paroliqued material where it ack as a water going down or horocing etc
I have cousins that live in Moore, OK and they took cover in their closet because they didn't have a storm shelter and survived but now they have a storm shelter but this tornado was very devastating and I was even worried and scared for my cousins because i watched from the time this tornado formed untill the tornado roped out so i was still scared and worried even though i don't live anywhere close to Moore, OK
Austin Nave Your family is very blessed. some of the videos I've seen of this tornado wiped the earth clean in the direct path. Lucky or blessed, your choice.

I hope you have a storm seller. If not, get one now. If you do, get it inspected. People have drowned in them in storms. Also, time to learn how to be a prepper. There is a lot you will need when tornado season rolls around.
I was raised near here. I left Oklahoma shortly after the May 9 1999 Moore disaster. Twenty years now in central California, and I've never seen any earthquake damage or experienced one that was any more than distant thunder.
I am fascinated by tornadoes and usually like watching videos of them but this one makes me sick knowing it destroyed that town and all those poor folks livelihoods God Bless them and all who were lost that day
Imagine how terrifying it must be to get sucked into one of those and be like 200 feet in the air, getting all your oxygen removed and spinning into oblivion whilst getting smashed by debris
No there is no such drone, it would become part of the debris. The only things that fly in EF5 tornadoes are things that take a direct hit, like parts and pieces of houses, cars, 20 ton objects, etc
I live right across the street in the 3rd house down and this was filmed in a funeral home parking lot and then they drove east and the south about 400 yards southeast and parked by Baker bros electric company where the blue and white fence is
During this storm and that general time period, I can understand storm chasers(pros and amateurs) stopping in the middle of the road blocking it for other chasers and even EMS. But now, absolutely nobody should ever do that. We have a lot more knowledge about storms and yet we still need to learn a hell of a lot more. So stop blocking chasers and let them get footage to help understand them

Can't imagine it's been 8 years, and it's still shocking seeing the EF5 bearing down in Moore across the board.
Respect to the guy casually walking across the grass in the start of the video lmao 😆 0:33
I noticed that....🤔
I remember when Sam Pèna goes to his son Benji's school of Briarwood Elementary in Moore,OK it was a horrible day in Oklahoma on May 20 2013 it's F5 tornado Man it supposed to be big tornado I just saying it's like May 3 1999 And I want to say God bless Oklahoma and Moore I still love Oklahoma!!!!! I want to give the Moore, OK victims you are in our hearts and prayers for you people who died R.I.P!!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
An "old tree" siting in Moore is a rare thing. Much more common is videos of tornadoes with repair work in the foreground from an earlier tornado.
The tornado is nice enough to leave history. Too bad the tree can't talk or it would be telling stories of how much it was scarred shitless.
My parents lost their house in this tornado, my daughter and my Grandbabies were in their shelter with my mother. I was at work in Norman. What is a 15 minute trip from Norman to Moore took me 3 1/2 hours. I cried the entire time.
Having lived here all my life and never having tried to see a tornado, I've seen three--all like this, from a reasonable distance away. I hope to keep it that way, God willing. Be safe, everybody. Good luck.

normal people: RUN ITS A TORNADO
my family: let's watch then we can play some black jack

"Tornado,weewoo"
As a siren enthusiast that lives in Arkansas I can confirm I’ve gone outside multiple times to hear the siren and there was a tornado hitting a town near mine a few weeks ago and that was the first time I heard a Thunderbolt siren in person because the DSA on the Air Force base didn’t go off
Trust me my sister died in Moore from this tornado you do not want to live in tornado ally!
I'm sorry to hear that.
Tornado alley is a very devastating place
Alabama is worse. Trust me, tornado fatality count is much higher then that of Oklahoma. The great plains are well known for their name. Plains. Open fields. Unpopulated areas, mostly. Not Alabama.
+Conner Everett Alabama and Mississippi get the worst of it
Too bad I live in Claremore.
I remember this storm passing my county, when I was younger I had very bad anxiety about storms and I would bust out in tears
That tornado is an evil-looking beast!! I remember watching this on the news up here in Toledo, Ohio, and the Weather Channel was tracking it in real time as well. Awesome video!!!
Tom Momsen late reply but, I'm in Ohio too! You don't see tornados much up here!
I was a victim of the TORNADO I was at my house the day Caues my mom knew about the Storm and I was 5 an I 11 now
I live in ohio too and it’s a rare thing
Мужики , go home !
Ohio never really gets interesting weather
The wind is so loud it drowns the siren out!
What power
Siren: WAAAAAAAAIL....
Twister: ROOOOOOOOOOOOOAR!!!!!
Siren: Well, shit. :I
Yeah, the reason is because something malfunctioned on the siren.
xXSo1arGamingXx no. It’s not.
@@zachj9359 Listen to how quiet it is. Either the blower failed to activate or it has a very bad air leak. Theres no way the siren could've been drowned out by the wind unless something like that actually happened.
As everyone is casually driving through red lights... Good on you all, fleeeee!
well that is good cause if u stop at red light and if the tornado is hitting your way it might wipe u out!!!
LOLZ... "Fleeeeee..."
"Storms a'comin! Twister headin' this way!" *Burns rubber as he leaves a grocery store.*
Hey, why is there cars going where the tornado is at 1:00
Kan
Probably storm chasers.
Probably chasers.
Some people in oklahoma don't pay any attention to the weather. They just ignore it. Then they are surprised by the tornados. Me, I planed my life around the weather.
Was that a ball of lightning? At 6:13 top right corner?
That siren alone would make me cry 😱
I'm from London, England I must say those tornado sirens scared the shit out of me!. Why was that guy outside during a tornado warning had that been me I would be shitting myself!.
Well, he really had no choice unless he wanted to get into a ditch
and most likely die.
Yourea bluudy wankah
That's how we do on this side of the pond!
I live just 2 minutes from where this tornado went through. I remember it like it was yesterday.
Howdy from Arkansas. Joplin, Mo is a two hour drive North of me.
Being from oklahoma I can tell you that as scary as tornadoes are we are pretty used to them unfortunately
Weird at 0:54 that guy walking just disappeared when he reached the telephone pole
+EvanTheReckless I'm surprised no one has claimed it to be a ghost or alien yet LOL
+jolietdave3750 Strange - is that he walked straight -?!?!

The grass looks nice you can tell they get enough rain..
I lived near Moore at that time it was so scary I was so little to I had to take shelter so much god bless the people who sacrificed themself
Wow, when ever i see or hear the tornado siren in the middle of the night i get SUPER scared
Amen to that
It's been 7 years, seems like yesterday. I remember being at work and watching it on TV
Imagine the people like myself who live in tornado alley and has to experience this every year.
I can't find any reverse-wired thunderbolts in Moore, what happened to it?
That is terrifying, And not knowing when one of those things will come down out of the sky right overhead without notice of one being on the ground all;ready would cause me to never be able to sleep. I would be the crazy neighbor who sleeps in her underground shelter every night
You learn to live with it.. and you learn your tornado "Plan" seek shelter and hold on. Lol that's about the best you can do. Have your storm bags ready water, food etc if you have pets scoop them up and head for safey.
backpackdirty
yup. you no longer "fear" it. you respect it and get underground or out of the way. then you pick up the pieces. it's all you can do.
Wow...Respect for all the People in this Alley! Be safe!
I have all the stuff that is valuable in my bag so i can run in my shelter once i hear the siren turn on. if not then i would be wstching koco5 news or my dad normsly watch it.
That is one, fat, ugly, snarling, growling beast of nature. I've experienced one, and don't need to go through that again.

When I lived in Kansas over 20 years ago I remember just hearing of a tornado warning and everyone stayed home but I see things have changed. Was this rush hour or are people not phased by sirens anymore?
Most of the people in the video are driving away from the tornado.
+Lifted Research Labs If your talking about the 2.6mile one that was quickly upgraded to an ef5
This was happening around the time that school was getting out.
no it was a EF 5 all right
Also tornados happen very quickly.
I was in this tornado and I was in 1st grade.
I was a 3
I was 8
I'm so sorry kiddo's.
Race 4him yes it sucks
@@Tc-rn8lh always wanted to see a tornado in person. Obviously don't want anyone to get hurt or worse, die.
But I've always wanted to see a big well defined one
Fantastic video. Great shot's of the storm structure, including the mesocyclones. It seems most people jus focus on the ground shots but your vantage point shows the whole Storm!
How do those people carry on like nothing is happening?!?!
I think this too :O I would flying out there!
It's Oklahoma, they see this all the time
We take precautions and live life.
Ai Enma Well you know what you are looking at. the average Joe looking at that will just see a dark sky. If you are in a neighborhood with trees..a massive tornado can get right on top of you before you know it. if it is rain wrapped.. Well knowledge is power.
Ai Enma
What's your plan? You are probably one of those people that think that screaming and crying is going to help you in an emergency like this.
Hey Xanthaar, I'm working on a UA-cam video about this tornado, and was curious if I could use your video with credit in it!
How can u use it the tornado is to big
How far away would you say you were? Could you hear it? I imagine that sight must have been terrifying!
That part of town is a well populated place, you have Walmart, Sam’s Club, Lowes, the Warren theater, a bank, Braum’s; it was absolutely terrifying.

if it ain't foreign it's borin! You watched, or seen it? Have you seen any of that shit for yourself. No, you haven't. Guaranteed.
They're adrenaline junkies. They love it. Still, it is very admirable. Some law officers keep driving around town warning people about a tornado in progress long after they should have taken cover themselves.
Is tornado spin counterclockwise ?
Or depends some time clock wise some time counterclockwise
Is tonado spin only counterclockwise then this is koreolis force.
Right?
That means that tonado iact as a paroliqued material where it ack as a water going down or horocing etc
If that was me driving there’s no way I would stop at a red light!!!
Diane E lets cause a huge accident on top of the huge tornado.

I was raised near here. I left Oklahoma shortly after the May 9 1999 Moore disaster. Twenty years now in central California, and I've never seen any earthquake damage or experienced one that was any more than distant thunder.
I am fascinated by tornadoes and usually like watching videos of them but this one makes me sick knowing it destroyed that town and all those poor folks livelihoods God Bless them and all who were lost that day
Where's the guy go at 0:52?
3:35, hell a scary looking 😲!!!!
Imagine how terrifying it must be to get sucked into one of those and be like 200 feet in the air, getting all your oxygen removed and spinning into oblivion whilst getting smashed by debris
At 2:59 the red dodge should have his lights on just like everybody else, and I like how all these drivers don't give a crap about an EF5 tornado
Some dont even notice..
Because they wanna ride the tornados DUHH
Those drivers understand that the tornado is fucking miles and miles away, and also that the tornado is moving at an angle, not following the road.
Did USA created drone that can fly through tornado and take measurements of water moister in different parts of tonado body?
Does USA need such drone?
No there is no such drone, it would become part of the debris. The only things that fly in EF5 tornadoes are things that take a direct hit, like parts and pieces of houses, cars, 20 ton objects, etc
Damn nature, you scary!
It looks like smoke
Dude youve never seen a tornado
So are those flashing lights from power lines being torn down by the tornado?
Yup if they're blue it's definitely transformers and not lightning
I live right across the street in the 3rd house down and this was filmed in a funeral home parking lot and then they drove east and the south about 400 yards southeast and parked by Baker bros electric company where the blue and white fence is
To think, just 11 days later and even worse and the largest tornado ever ripped through these areas
Imagine moving to Moore, Oklahoma for work from a foreign country like Kenya during the winter of 2012 and this is your first spring lol
Damn that thing looks ugly, is it moving or just sitting there?
at it's top forward speed it was only moving at 20 mph.
They're all bad but one that takes it's time sits there and grinds stuff up for a longer time.
