    I live in okc and my dad lives in Moore. Keep in mind we do get ample warnings but most of the time it turns out to not be a big storm. Just like they make a big deal of it snowing and it never snows. However, this tornado was horrible. We’ve had previous devastating ones. This tornado went on a long journey it was horrifying to watch on tv. After this one if they think the weather gets bad schools let kids out early work let employees off early people get home and safe. The down side if we did this for everytime the weather is supposed to do something which 85% of the time it’s not half as bad as they say it is, then when it rains we wouldn’t go anywhere. Living in Oklahoma your entire life it’s just another day. Tornados comes and goes as fast as it arrives. Most oklahomans sit in their driveway drinking beer watching the storms blow by.

    this one is pretty crazy. You can see the vertical cloud that is the tornado, but it's not even a funnel, and doesn't even have a funnel shape! It's like just a thick column.

    • @davidtimms3201
      @davidtimms3201 4 роки тому +25

      That is the case with massive wedge tornadoes. They are multi vortex, spin off satellites and constantly change shape.

    • @kleinemaus6094
      @kleinemaus6094 4 роки тому +17

      That's called a condensation funnel. They take many shapes but as a previous commenter said this is a wedge. Multivortices, low visibility (most often these are rain wrapped) and the area that actually is the tornadic wind force is bigger than what you see of the condensation funnel.

      Moore made the sirens not as loud as they were in this tornado in the newer electronic sirens. The ample coverage per those sirens is only one mile, whilst the older tones made the sirens cover the entire city, the frequencies were 850/1020 for dual tone.. There was a special tone used called Major 3 that carried as far as 6 miles out. Now they make the sirens blend in with the others which isn't a good idea. Like.. at all.

    I lived there for about 12 years. Every year there were storm's. We had about 4 or 5 close calls and one started twisting the house onthe foundation. My kids and I were living about 1 street away from 4th street where it crossed the highway. We got some light damage to our house. The real terrifying thing was that we were in my car, across the highway. It was coming straight at us. I couldn't comprehend what I was looking at. My kids could and yelled, "There it is!", pointing at it. I floored it, south. Away from it's path. I was easily going 60 mph when I went through that intersection they were recording from. You can see the light and the water tower. I don't know if you see my car. Debris was coming down as we raced south. I'm so glad we moved away. I don't miss the heat. I don't miss the storm's. I really think there are an extraordinary number of people suffering PTSD there just from the tornados. If I remember correctly, exactly 7 days later there were a bunch of smaller tornados that skipped around town. There were EF-0's to EF-3's? I can't remember. I really hated that town.

    11 days later the widest tornado would hit El Reno.
    I remember this tornado. I was eight at the time. Me and my family were in the truck going back home and we did not notice that there was an EF5 on the stinking ground. My dad had the radio on and it said there was an tornado on the ground. The closest I have ever been to a tornado is looking at the back of his truck, and seeing this tornado. We would go back home to get into the closet and pray that it would not hit us. If it would of followed us, we would not be alive right now. With EF5's you must be underground, chances are of you surviving is slim to none.
    A few days after the twister hit. This military soldier gave me and my siblings a little teddy bear, to cheer us up. I still have it in my room, although looking at it, it reminds me of this exact day.
    Then, 11 days afterwards, El Reno got hit by the widest tornado ever recorded, which resulted in 8 deaths. Quite devastating and terrifying. Someone was describing what happened to each of the 3 professional storm chasers, and let me tell you, that made me shook to my core.
    Whether you live here in Oklahoma or a state that gets tornados, please be careful y'all. Hearing that description made me realize that tornados are not playing around. I knew that tornados were destructive, but hearing what happened made it even worse and quite frightening. Their job is to destroy everything it gets its hands on, within the several minutes or hour it gets, before it dissipates.
    I know some people say that we sit out and watch tornados, of course we don't do that. As soon as I hear the whelms, I grab my belongings already by the door, with my shoes, and jacket, yell for my family to hurry and in the shelter we go. Waiting and waiting... in the warm shelter.
    Stay safe y'all, especially from the heat. Triple digits for a week; UNCALLED FOR! Don't y'all love weather?

      Hello! The EF5 tornado was not near my house, but we were in the truck and so we were fleeing from it, as we were making it home. I was not close enough for it to pick up the truck, not that close at all. But I could look at the back window and see the twister from afar. It was not as close as you would think it was, but I thought it was going to follow us home.
      And I could not hear it, all I heard was cars honking, tornado sirens going off, the radio, my dad talking to us telling us what we’re gonna do once we got home, and rain hitting the windshield. It was chaotic, way too much things going on at once. The twister destroyed parts of our town and it was just incredible. That part of town is a well populated place, you have Walmart, Sam’s Club, Lowes, the Warren theater, a bank, Braum’s; it was absolutely terrifying.

    I have cousins that live in Moore, OK and they took cover in their closet because they didn't have a storm shelter and survived but now they have a storm shelter but this tornado was very devastating and I was even worried and scared for my cousins because i watched from the time this tornado formed untill the tornado roped out so i was still scared and worried even though i don't live anywhere close to Moore, OK

      Austin Nave Your family is very blessed. some of the videos I've seen of this tornado wiped the earth clean in the direct path.
      Lucky or blessed, your choice.

      FiftyCaliberTV I like Oklahoma. And shelters cost sooo much. Not everyone can afford one. Inless they have the money for it.

      I hope you have a storm seller. If not, get one now. If you do, get it inspected. People have drowned in them in storms. Also, time to learn how to be a prepper. There is a lot you will need when tornado season rolls around.

    Did USA created drone that can fly through tornado and take measurements of water moister in different parts of tonado body?
    Does USA need such drone?

    • @duhdims
      @duhdims 3 роки тому +1

      No there is no such drone, it would become part of the debris. The only things that fly in EF5 tornadoes are things that take a direct hit, like parts and pieces of houses, cars, 20 ton objects, etc

    During this storm and that general time period, I can understand storm chasers(pros and amateurs) stopping in the middle of the road blocking it for other chasers and even EMS. But now, absolutely nobody should ever do that. We have a lot more knowledge about storms and yet we still need to learn a hell of a lot more. So stop blocking chasers and let them get footage to help understand them
