My kids grandad served with 31 squadron based out of RAF Bruggen, Germany, fitting the ejector seats in the Tornado. He subsequently was deployed to the Middle East to serve in the Gulf war. This has made the tornado a favourite with my kids and love spotting them air shows. This kit would be great to increase there interest as well as attempt to get them into modelling. Thanks for the great videos, these have rekindled my passion for this hobby.

Tornado! One of my favourite aircraft. Growing up at RAF Binbrook watching the TTTE Tornado's, in the early days, doing numerous practice approaches and overshoots. It developed into a Monster over time...

@@JenesisDesignsandModelcraft No indeed, nothing can compare to the beautiful flowing lines and brute force exuded by the Lightning. I lived on the outskirts of Grimsby. I only had to look out of my bedroom window to see the Lightnings on approach, wheels down at 8 miles "on the centreline, on the glideslope"... It was a GREAT time to be around.

That looks like a fun build. I served a couple of tours at Al Udied in Qatar as an Aussie Herc techo, while these aircraft were at the end of the strip. (Grey, by then- 2003 through 2009-ish.) I remember driving past their carport and saying to a mate “Ooohh! 617SQN! They’re the Dambusters!” He had a go at me, saying “They’re not Lancaster’s, you idiot!” I explained the red lightning bolt on the fin to him, and he still thought I was an idiot. Meh. Whatever. Awesome looking aircraft. T O U G H.

@@JenesisDesignsandModelcraft I didn’t know that! I’m avionics. 26 years now. Ex- Herc, Orion, Hornet, current Lightning II. Kits interest me more, these days. Haha. Your channel’s awesome. I leaned stuff with your 72nd scale Emil video. I’ll have to try the talc & CA thing.

    Hi Jen,
Thankyou for your reviews and modelling skill. I have just ventured on to the 1/48 Farewell Tornado and you have helped me massively with the fit issues.

I have from Revell Tornado jet waiting to be assembled in that same scale as well. The parts that you have showed are just the one that I remember that are in the box. I also remember that I had an Italeri Tornado jet in scale 1/72, and I did it with my father as well.

What a lovely looking kit! I've wanted to build one of these Gulf Tornadoes for years, ever since reading an interview with, I think it was, the crew of Helen in a magazine 20 odd years ago. Even more so after seeing your Foxy Killer project!

Always happy to see a new video from you, love how your style and how clearly your job comes through in your videos. Clearly you have done your DIT course! 👍🏼😊
I’ll be using your Hercules videos as a guide through my next project.
Have you any experience with lighting your models? I’m considering taking the plunge!
    All the best folks, Ian

    • @JenesisDesignsandModelcraft
      @JenesisDesignsandModelcraft  3 роки тому +1

That's hilarious, because I actually have done that course ....
I've not done any lighting yet, though it is something I think can look very cool if done right. I'll have to see if I can add some to an upcoming project - maybe the HK Lancaster might work.

I’m completely electrically illiterate and have been watching loads of UA-cam tutorials. I’m going to have to take the plunge!
The Lancaster with red internal lighting I think would give it some more ambience but only in my humble opinion.
Thanks for the reply and keep on doing what you do👍🏼

Hi Jen I've been following your Foxy Killer build with great interest, I'd love to have a go at one myself and try some of your techniques in my preferred 1/72 scale - I built the Airfix MRCA kit not that long after it came out in the green and grey scheme, this kit looks streets ahead of it, hopefully my modelling has improved as well!

Been slightly obsessed with this aircraft since I read about the “MRCA” as a schoolboy - who remembers the scooped out panel under the prototype’s vertical stabiliser, the hybrid national insignia - the revelation that it was Fly-By-Wire - just like the F16? Heady, futuristic stuff in the mid-70’s. Gulf War editions should make for some down and dirty kits - with worn, weathered, oily and smoky Desert Pink adorned with the *nasty* biker-mag inspired nose art. The Tonka was no “hangar queen”, but a tough, mean fighting machine.

Another great video! Am really enjoying following the progress on the 1/48 GR1.
I’d love to build the 1/72 one as a XV Squadron aircraft (as my great uncle flew on XV Squadron in WWII and I built a model of the Blenheim he was flying when he and his crew were killed) and would like to make a display of all XV Squadron’s types. I have many happy memories of sitting in Tornadoes from my time in the air cadets and being about 13 at the time of Gulf War 1 I was in awe of the crews and the mighty Tornado.

    • @JenesisDesignsandModelcraft

I can second that Pete, watching the footage of Gulf War 1 is something I remember very clearly. And equally, I remember the impression the RAF jets and their crews made on me, it is a major reason that I'm building the 48th one after all.

Love the gulf war Tonkas!. I remember getting either “Take off” or “Airplane” magazine in the early 90s as a kid, and it included parts to build a kit of a desert storm tonka every week/month (?). Guess who missed an issue?!😑

Top review. It's the go to method now with model shops on the decline, this is the only way you can get your snout in the trough, excuse the vernacular. A good review with unbiased info is the difference on shelling out your hard earned or not. I used to love it, as a kid, taking the box up to the counter and asking to have a look.

Firstly your videos are 2nd to none your modeling skills are well something else don't think words describe those.
Been watching your videos for a while and very much enjoying the 1/48 build series of this kit.
I was hoping to get that kit to do a model for my father who is an ex RAF photographer who spent much time in the gulf . Unfortunately I missed that one so when this little beauty popped up I thought I'd have a go at this one. And your give away has come up so I thought I'd give it a go.
My dad is a great man who loved his 40 years in the RAF and so deserves me to do him this model well probably deserves a better model builder than me though but I'm all he's got.
Please can you consider me for this prize.
And thank you for your great builds.

On occasions - I would include one of the blueies he sent at the time of the Gulf War in a 1/72 diorama too. Thanks Jen, a newbie subscriber and enjoying it muchly. Dave.
