I really respect Aqua for even being able to play games like Apex alone. I often thought about how much fun it would be to play. But in the end, even when i download it i never start a game because i'm too afraid to disappoint my teammates and get yelled at.
I'll be honest. Most people that play Apex sort of slam queue after queue. If you type in at the start of a match "this is my first time playing" or "I'm very new to this game" your teammates will leave you be. Also you can just mute voice chat before you even start a match. Gl bro, hope you can try it out one day 👍🏿

I think that in this case is not even a matter of social awkwardness. Maybe so, Aqua being Aqua, but I've seen many not being comfortable in playing teams regardless of their social skills. I myself turn into a moron on auto-pilot when I play with people I have to be wary of lol. I feel like I should consider them more, so I stop playing as I would play, while trying to accommodate them. Which in the end turns me into a glorified NPC with terrible AI.
that is so true. I feel like I do that as well INITIALLY. The longer I play with a group of the same people, I know their playstyle and hence will be able to accomodate them as well as myself. Thats one reason why Aqua should spread out and really stop playing Solo. Even Astel is trying to hit Masters this season but he is doing it with Izuru I think and he is still chilling in D2. Aqua is really not far off.
I've been playing Spellbreak that has true solo mode as well as squads. I always play solo, but then once because there was squad-related quest I played a few games and it was a mess, I had to constantly be aware of where we are going, wonder whether I should ping items in case someone needs them, and awkward situations of who will get the upgrade scrolls. In solo I can just do my own thing and not have to think about others or negotiate.
I agree. I generally avoid MP shooters with "classes" I hate it (even with friends). "We need a Tank, you be one" "You suck with that char, change to someone else" or "Why didn't you XXX! We couldve won!" Normally, Im the type who prefers run and gun but because of these sort of games (and to keep mouths shut), I play as a Healer class. Just mindlessly heal whoever's health is the lowest.
I guess that's what more often happened indeed. Team game that I actually play is more to ttrpg. Some people indeed taking it hard way and harshly "critique" others. But it's actually depends on each person. I guess more people just like being sh*t and blame to others. If you watch Astel or Meika Apex stream recently, they usually saying sorry for making mistake themselves when not reaching Champion, then reviewing their play. I guess that's a pro for you?
With this clip I hope the inconsiderate people in chat who keeps spamming "why not play with Ame, Ollie, Ayame etc" stop. She even said in one of the stream not to force her to play with someone since she's not ready yet, she wanted to take the initiative by herself on inviting people to play with her. So please be be considerate and just wait, and she if doesn't that's OK too since the most important is how she's enjoying the game.

I know and personally i think she really just finds it more beneficial to play with no distractions of other conversation even if she’s not talking. She looked like she was very close to mentioning she doesn’t want a lot of talking while in a party but didn’t because it was probably rude to say as she could be including other hololive members. I know a lot of people including myself find it much easier to focus that way. It’s not about finding very experienced players. It’s about how your able to focus and some people can’t change their play style so this is completely normal.
@@theshadowmaster2702 i kinda agree with her on a personal level regarding playing solo in ranked(with randoms) since it can be very frustrating when there's a fuckup, be it you or somebody else(moreso when it's a simple/rookie mistake). it's alot easier to play solo since there isn't as much room for concern/self-constrain as compared to when playing with friends since you don't want to end up damaging relationships out of frustration. not that I'm saying it's fine to scream at randoms but just that you don't need to be as self-conscious. last time i played league of legends with a friend's friend(who is also somewhat of an acquaintance) I pretty much became the target board for the dude at least half the games we played together in. sure I'm not as good as him(dude was like around plat give or take, highest I've reach was only silver) and we only played casuals but man he really ticked me off. stuff like this can really turn you off from pre-making squads, even if your teammates are nice people

Yeah generally people who have bad social skills tend to prefer doing pretty much anything by themselves rather than with the help of someone else because it's easier and more comfortable to do so Perhaps it's because we always try to think of what to say and how to deal with the other person, making us lose our focus
Maybe it is some Japanese thing to always party que. Most of the fps games I have played (cs, apex, valorant, cod), all of my friends including me most of time soloQ even if we would be online at a same time...

I on the other hand need a team to pull through, because I got used to plays where we need communication to do x or y. So if I talk to a stranger, either they only want what they want, or not pull through with what I request, so going solo removed much of my capabilities, and teaming with strangers is not something I can do, unless it's only with friends

I was thinking the same thing!! I've watched Kana-chi-Kuzu play together for a long time now, and have always thought Chihiro and Aqua would get along well. Not sure they are even acquainted though. Would be nice to see her stream with another friend or 2 while sharing some laughs from time to time.
I feel you Aqua. Actually im not too introvert or too shy to ask people for playing with me, but the problem is I'm afraid that if your teammates have high expectations for you for beeing good in the game and you can't afford it. So yeah I always end up playing solo, especially in the competitive games. When Aqua trying to imagine she was playing with other people, i feel her here. You know im also want to see Aqua playing with other in this game but, let see as long as she is happy for now i'm okay with that she can do it for next time in the future whenever she is ready.
I don't even think it's solely about shyness. I'm actually picking up the sense that she's worried about a lot more. I suspect she plays solo because she's afraid of not only communicating in general, but also of making mistakes and letting down her teammates and vice versa of teammates making mistakes and causing emotions to run high from it. She has a really good attitude with randoms, because she can easily accept that it's just not in her control whatever they do, but that dynamic is totally different once you start playing with people you know and want to form teams with. She might be afraid that she'd be holding back someone else, or afraid to tell someone that they're holding her back. In a sense, it's a lot like the Pekora-Moona relationship. Pekora probably tip toed around alot afraid to ask or tell, but Moona's attitude towards Minecraft really compliments how Pekora wants to play, so it is easy for them to get along. That said, Apex is competitive no matter how you look at it, and emotions can run high if you get really into a game.
I really understand this. I understand before she talked about it. Most people like solo rank. It helps you focus. Right now she has one goal in mind, Solo Master. It's hard but all we can do now is to support her. Next season maybe she'll play casual with friends again. Apex team tournament? Like she said, in 10 years.

This isn't supposed to sound negative but this right here is why I can't understand why people have asked so many times in Towa's chat during the last Apex tournament and at the start of CR Cup customs where Aqua is. I mean do they really expect Aqua of all people to join a (random) team and compete if she doesn't even play with her fellow Hololive members?
I think most people can't comprehend being as shy as Aqua is online. I had no idea even after watching Aqua clips for months (mostly her minecraft building projects) but after watching clips like this its obvious

Playing alone is better than being in party, for me I experience being in a party but in the end they blamed each other and become toxic, like I want to play with just for fun but did'nt expect them to be toxic players.
for someone like Aqua, the best we (viewers and fans) can do is to watch and support her (without any backseating or stream snipping) and never suggest or forced her to do something she didn't want to do, except if she ask us for it. for anyone felt dissapointed with her decision, just hold it in for yourself and don't ever speak.

I know this feeling. After 6 seasons of playing alone, my friends are able to play Apex with me now. But whenever we play I always instinctively go for that solo player mindset where I stay silent for the whole game and expect my teammates to know what they're doing, even though they're fairly new to the game.
I don't know if she's speaking from a wound or something, but you can hear it. The fact that it's beyond awkwardness. I'm just grateful that she has us. Our support during these moments at least says to her that she's not truly alone.
I hope she start giving it a chance and with some time learn how to play properly with a team, she loves this game and keeps getting really good at it, it would be really nice for her to participate on a tournament.
I really feel for her. I mainly solo queue so I definitely see where she’s coming from. I will be the most supportive teammate that I can and usually keep to myself. It’s less of being shy and more of “I don’t want to bother with navigating with others”, though. I’d be over the moon though if I could have a teammate as nice as her. 👌
It is just about finding people that you want to play with... everything else will resolve itself. You know when you have found the correct people to play with when from the beginning everything just goes smooth and you enjoy to play with them and have feeling that you want to play with them more. Aqua just has not experienced this yet, so it is difficult to imagine.
i can relate to aqua to this very much and i know that even if you're currently enjoying playing alone, you'll get bored of it soon. I've been there and I'm still there. I've played Dota, LoL, Csgo, Apex, and other moba games alone, it was fun in the beginning but it gets boring and mundane after repeating it again and again. It just stops being fun because you've no one to talk to, about your plays, funny moments, and other things. You've no one to tell about your achievements, so what's the point? I've played with friends in the past and it was so fun having people you can talk with. i missed those times. Humans are social animals after all.

I had a lot of social anxiety when I went to university at first to the point where I didn't like going to class because I was afraid someone would talk to me in the halls. I hope she is able to break through but only time can tell but, I do really think its possible. Pekora hated playing Minecraft when there were too many people online and now she forces herself into a bunch of new situations to the point where she has said it is so much more enjoyable to let go of her anxiety a bit. All we can really do as viewers is hope that Aqua is able to develop in her own way and support her in her journey. Ganbatte !
I completely relate to her on this situation. I'm sure that my confidence has gone up and can at least talk confidently, but in games like Apex or any kind of team-based games its really hard to sync up with people who are really not in the same wavelength as you are. It gets way harder when you are socially awkward and I feel that. I love Aqua even more because of this and so I was wondering why I loved watching her.
I kinda relate to Aqua in this regard, for a lot of time I almost didn't talk to people in general with very few exceptionsbecause I didn-t want to be a bother. It was until High School when I had a revelation and just... stopped caring what people think of me, I took the decision to stop and being more sociable, however what seemed like a big shift out of nowhere to everybody it was something I thought and prepared mentally for a lot of time. It's not hard to break that bubble, heck even now I still have those kind of episodes with a lot of people. It's very very hard, we need enough time, be mentally prepared and that moment of courage to do it.

Nothing is weird about enjoying a game solo. Heck Towa, Ayame and Botan are mostly Solo Apex players themselves. Personally, being in a party of friends gave you lot of pressure, they know who you are and they will expect you to perform based on how they know your play history, well even if they don't, you will end up putting that pressure on yourself. Being on party of strangers however gave you the benefit of anonymity. If you for some reason perform awfully you can just "welp shit happens" and can actually enjoy the game rather than being tense. Social wise, being an introvert myself, it's quite exhausting.
having to learn new things and unlearn old habits while playing with a full party is troublesome. you really do have to change your whole playstyle since one person is assigned to do this and the others get their own part as well. you subconsciously do things that you usually do when you shouldn't, you ruin the whole synergy. it takes a while for getting used to

Playing alone for a long time makes it even harder to communicate with others when the time comes. I experienced the same thing in the past but now I have friends that are like family. I hope she can find friends whom she can be comfortable to spend time with and play stuff like Apex together.
Relatable, really. It's tough to communicate with random people, and learning to play with others is also hell if you're afraid of disappointing someone by not winning all the time. Precious onion gets it. Hope she can overcome her barriers one day, and I can overcome mine.

This is me in every game. I'd rather be cursing at random teammates rather than my friends. I can't help it because i play seriously in every game with ranking system. It's frustrating when others do not try good enough but idk, maybe i'm just toxic.
People will have different journeys with their games, I wish Aqua all the best. She would definitely be a nice addition to Vtuber Apex tournaments if the opportunity presents itself. On a different holo member perspective, I am witness to Matsuri's growth as a player and she is still developing. I also started playing Apex because I saw how much fun she has playing. Matsuri is not as talented as Aqua but grinds hard behind the scenes. She grew by playing with people better than her (Uge, Pakael, Kaga Sumire, Masanori, and looks to be acquainted with Gil-kun, Kawase, Kaminari Qpi, Huma Wat, Kurumi Noah, Komori Met, and Nun Bora) and learning from them. She also kept on joining tournaments she didn't have any business winning but kept on believing. She was met with fustration after frustration for placing in the bottom ranks, and also got a lot of hate in the process. She finally got vindication for showing up in the latest CR Cup, being a very capable support and hopefully further build up from there.
Thinking about Aqua and team comp, I think she might be able to thrive (and build confidence) with a shot caller to direct her energy and a support to back her up. Basically feed her and trust she will take care of herself once fed. It would minimize the amount of communication she needs to give back to the team. 🤔
Relatable. Playing in teams can feel stressful, trying to figure out how much you have to be considerate for your team mates when you are not used to that type of play style. At least in solo queues, all of you are just going solo together. Everyone can take care of them selves and no need to got too out of the way to help them. You go at your own pace Aqua.
Those are things you can work on though, as well as being able to find teams you can blend in with, instead of trying to push yourself to blend with them. It's just how it is. It's understandable if you're not comfortable to get into that YET. At some point, surely you'll meet someone that can hold your hand towards that end.
I'm in the same sort of boat as Aqua. I find it simpler to queue for Ranked matches solo. I'm often playing as a loner in my multiplayer games and just joining pick-up-groups. It can sometimes take a lot of effort to find people that you can work well together with in competitive multiplayer situations vs just playing solo and only having to manage your own performance
completely understand this. as much as I'd like to play ranked anything with people i could talk to, having to be aware of what they're saying and doing and needing completely inhibits my ability to play, making the whole idea of being a good team useless. solo play is just easier most of the time.
Aqua feelings kinda resonate with me on certain level like ''playing solo is more comfortable'' tbf i dont have any social anxieties i just have keen sense of awareness where i notice the little things or what other people hint or stuff. But playing with a team or in gamer words, *stacking* has alot of advantage especially in rank matches , its very common for pro level player to stack so they can adapt learn and improve themself better as a team its like if you stack in a party but you know you are really good like Aqua but you still lost , either you made a mistake or your team made a mistake thats all. I play various competitive games CSGO , Valorant , Apex and other games as well , i have bunch of friends who wanna stack with me but sometimes it just made you more self conscious and turn into a NPC that you cant play at your peak performance as you play solo. Because you are too busy being self conscious and thinking what is best for your team that you lock your potential behind a bar and limit your skillset hence making silly judgement or poor decision choices that result in loses. BUT as a solo and team play myself i realise that adapting your playstyle to your team is pretty hard for people who is not used to team play most people failed to integrate themself in a team resulting in awkward gaming experience and made them frustrated and loses. For me what i find harder to find is the same person who share the same sentiment and also has sportmanship attitude and desire to win. Not just win and reach Master , Apex. But to win and keep winning while improving myself to be better or be the best team i could have. MANY people grow complacent and just stop playing when they reach certain rank like ''Ah i reach Dia GG guys i am gonna go off its a good game i am not climbing rank anymore you guys can climb'' Basically their goal is to reach certain rank and when they achieve it they dont wanna go further anymore . For me thats kinda sad you know?
I totally get you. People who want to rank up instead of actually wanting to improve at the game... if you aim to improve you will end up ranking even higher than if the only thing you aim for is a cool logo
I totally understand, when I play with a party I get too caught up in trying to be considerate and I became terrible at the game. I think that kind of thing can be mostly solved by practicing a lot with the same people.

sadly, it wasn't the case here. Aqua never seems to get affected by random trash talk in many situations but the thought of needing to be considerate in friend team really can stress a person out especially with Aqua lvl of social anxiety. She definitely overthinks about it but it is what it is, it will take time for her to realize.
Talk about being in the same position. I’ve never played rank with actual friends either. Sure I’ve played with a random for a few or 4 games of ranked but after adding them, I’ve never really tried to reach out or invited them. Also the fact that most players in asia don’t speak english decreases the chances of me ever playing with someone. I’m also scared of speaking to them too due to me realizing how toxic I was to my friends when I played with them, like are they gonna judge me or are they gonna find me annoying. Soloq in apex is a bit too unbearable but I can’t do anything about it, I chose to do it this way
Just because it's a team game doesn't mean you can't have fun as a solo player. The way she talks about it makes it seem like she would like to play with others, but she's really anxious about conversation and making sure they're having fun. When playing with friends, I can relate a lot to the "they're using this type of ammo so maybe I should switch guns or not be as greedy" "I have to remind them to grab a helmet or use their abilities correctly" little things that add up. It can take away from Aqua's normal play style and might make things difficult for her. I remember she's done a few Apex collabs in early 2020 but I haven't seen that lately, wonder if it is just her being nervous and overthinking.
She really reminds me of Pekora back when she wouldn’t play minecraft with others, or even if there were too many members already on the server. Hopefully somebody will come along and pull Aqua out of her shell. It seems to have worked out well for a certain rabbit and moon combo.

I know a lot of people including myself find it much easier to focus that way. It’s not about finding very experienced players. It’s about how your able to focus and some people can’t change their play style so this is completely normal.
@@theshadowmaster2702 i kinda agree with her on a personal level regarding playing solo in ranked(with randoms) since it can be very frustrating when there's a fuckup, be it you or somebody else(moreso when it's a simple/rookie mistake).
it's alot easier to play solo since there isn't as much room for concern/self-constrain as compared to when playing with friends since you don't want to end up damaging relationships out of frustration. not that I'm saying it's fine to scream at randoms but just that you don't need to be as self-conscious. last time i played league of legends with a friend's friend(who is also somewhat of an acquaintance) I pretty much became the target board for the dude at least half the games we played together in. sure I'm not as good as him(dude was like around plat give or take, highest I've reach was only silver) and we only played casuals but man he really ticked me off. stuff like this can really turn you off from pre-making squads, even if your teammates are nice people

I on the other hand need a team to pull through, because I got used to plays where we need communication to do x or y. So if I talk to a stranger, either they only want what they want, or not pull through with what I request, so going solo removed much of my capabilities, and teaming with strangers is not something I can do, unless it's only with friends

it's not about awkwardness, it's all about social anxiety when you "don't want to bother other people" or "making people dissapointed about what people expect from you"
Anxiety and awkwardness are not mutually exclusive, she could very well think that her awkwardness is what bothers and disappoints people.

I was thinking the same thing!! I've watched Kana-chi-Kuzu play together for a long time now, and have always thought Chihiro and Aqua would get along well. Not sure they are even acquainted though. Would be nice to see her stream with another friend or 2 while sharing some laughs from time to time.
I feel you Aqua. Actually im not too introvert or too shy to ask people for playing with me, but the problem is I'm afraid that if your teammates have high expectations for you for beeing good in the game and you can't afford it. So yeah I always end up playing solo, especially in the competitive games. When Aqua trying to imagine she was playing with other people, i feel her here. You know im also want to see Aqua playing with other in this game but, let see as long as she is happy for now i'm okay with that she can do it for next time in the future whenever she is ready.
I don't even think it's solely about shyness. I'm actually picking up the sense that she's worried about a lot more. I suspect she plays solo because she's afraid of not only communicating in general, but also of making mistakes and letting down her teammates and vice versa of teammates making mistakes and causing emotions to run high from it.
She has a really good attitude with randoms, because she can easily accept that it's just not in her control whatever they do, but that dynamic is totally different once you start playing with people you know and want to form teams with. She might be afraid that she'd be holding back someone else, or afraid to tell someone that they're holding her back.
In a sense, it's a lot like the Pekora-Moona relationship. Pekora probably tip toed around alot afraid to ask or tell, but Moona's attitude towards Minecraft really compliments how Pekora wants to play, so it is easy for them to get along. That said, Apex is competitive no matter how you look at it, and emotions can run high if you get really into a game.
In that sense, she really just needs a teammate to compliment her style.

Playing alone is better than being in party, for me I experience being in a party but in the end they blamed each other and become toxic, like I want to play with just for fun but did'nt expect them to be toxic players.
for someone like Aqua, the best we (viewers and fans) can do is to watch and support her (without any backseating or stream snipping)
and never suggest or forced her to do something she didn't want to do, except if she ask us for it.

I know this feeling. After 6 seasons of playing alone, my friends are able to play Apex with me now. But whenever we play I always instinctively go for that solo player mindset where I stay silent for the whole game and expect my teammates to know what they're doing, even though they're fairly new to the game.

I really feel for her. I mainly solo queue so I definitely see where she’s coming from. I will be the most supportive teammate that I can and usually keep to myself. It’s less of being shy and more of “I don’t want to bother with navigating with others”, though.
I’d be over the moon though if I could have a teammate as nice as her. 👌
It is just about finding people that you want to play with... everything else will resolve itself. You know when you have found the correct people to play with when from the beginning everything just goes smooth and you enjoy to play with them and have feeling that you want to play with them more. Aqua just has not experienced this yet, so it is difficult to imagine.
i can relate to aqua to this very much and i know that even if you're currently enjoying playing alone, you'll get bored of it soon. I've been there and I'm still there. I've played Dota, LoL, Csgo, Apex, and other moba games alone, it was fun in the beginning but it gets boring and mundane after repeating it again and again. It just stops being fun because you've no one to talk to, about your plays, funny moments, and other things. You've no one to tell about your achievements, so what's the point? I've played with friends in the past and it was so fun having people you can talk with. i missed those times. Humans are social animals after all.
This clip makes me really sad for aqua. I had a lot of social anxiety when I went to university at first to the point where I didn't like going to class because I was afraid someone would talk to me in the halls. I hope she is able to break through but only time can tell but, I do really think its possible. Pekora hated playing Minecraft when there were too many people online and now she forces herself into a bunch of new situations to the point where she has said it is so much more enjoyable to let go of her anxiety a bit. All we can really do as viewers is hope that Aqua is able to develop in her own way and support her in her journey. Ganbatte !
I completely relate to her on this situation. I'm sure that my confidence has gone up and can at least talk confidently, but in games like Apex or any kind of team-based games its really hard to sync up with people who are really not in the same wavelength as you are. It gets way harder when you are socially awkward and I feel that.
I love Aqua even more because of this and so I was wondering why I loved watching her.
I kinda relate to Aqua in this regard, for a lot of time I almost didn't talk to people in general with very few exceptionsbecause I didn-t want to be a bother. It was until High School when I had a revelation and just... stopped caring what people think of me, I took the decision to stop and being more sociable, however what seemed like a big shift out of nowhere to everybody it was something I thought and prepared mentally for a lot of time. It's not hard to break that bubble, heck even now I still have those kind of episodes with a lot of people.
It's very very hard, we need enough time, be mentally prepared and that moment of courage to do it.

Heck Towa, Ayame and Botan are mostly Solo Apex players themselves.
Personally, being in a party of friends gave you lot of pressure, they know who you are and they will expect you to perform based on how they know your play history, well even if they don't, you will end up putting that pressure on yourself.
Being on party of strangers however gave you the benefit of anonymity. If you for some reason perform awfully you can just "welp shit happens" and can actually enjoy the game rather than being tense.
Social wise, being an introvert myself, it's quite exhausting.
having to learn new things and unlearn old habits while playing with a full party is troublesome. you really do have to change your whole playstyle since one person is assigned to do this and the others get their own part as well. you subconsciously do things that you usually do when you shouldn't, you ruin the whole synergy. it takes a while for getting used to

Playing alone for a long time makes it even harder to communicate with others when the time comes. I experienced the same thing in the past but now I have friends that are like family. I hope she can find friends whom she can be comfortable to spend time with and play stuff like Apex together.

playing alone is lonely, i have played many multiplayer games, and playing alone and no one to talk with is sad, especially single player games, when you complete the game and you feel happy for a second and feel sad
This is me in every game. I'd rather be cursing at random teammates rather than my friends. I can't help it because i play seriously in every game with ranking system. It's frustrating when others do not try good enough but idk, maybe i'm just toxic.

On a different holo member perspective, I am witness to Matsuri's growth as a player and she is still developing. I also started playing Apex because I saw how much fun she has playing.
Matsuri is not as talented as Aqua but grinds hard behind the scenes. She grew by playing with people better than her (Uge, Pakael, Kaga Sumire, Masanori, and looks to be acquainted with Gil-kun, Kawase, Kaminari Qpi, Huma Wat, Kurumi Noah, Komori Met, and Nun Bora) and learning from them.
She also kept on joining tournaments she didn't have any business winning but kept on believing. She was met with fustration after frustration for placing in the bottom ranks, and also got a lot of hate in the process. She finally got vindication for showing up in the latest CR Cup, being a very capable support and hopefully further build up from there.
I don't even need to watch the video to understand, I just do. Even then, watching the video hit hard.

Thinking about Aqua and team comp, I think she might be able to thrive (and build confidence) with a shot caller to direct her energy and a support to back her up. Basically feed her and trust she will take care of herself once fed. It would minimize the amount of communication she needs to give back to the team. 🤔
Relatable. Playing in teams can feel stressful, trying to figure out how much you have to be considerate for your team mates when you are not used to that type of play style. At least in solo queues, all of you are just going solo together. Everyone can take care of them selves and no need to got too out of the way to help them. You go at your own pace Aqua.

Those are things you can work on though, as well as being able to find teams you can blend in with, instead of trying to push yourself to blend with them. It's just how it is. It's understandable if you're not comfortable to get into that YET. At some point, surely you'll meet someone that can hold your hand towards that end.
I'm in the same sort of boat as Aqua. I find it simpler to queue for Ranked matches solo.
I'm often playing as a loner in my multiplayer games and just joining pick-up-groups. It can sometimes take a lot of effort to find people that you can work well together with in competitive multiplayer situations vs just playing solo and only having to manage your own performance

completely understand this. as much as I'd like to play ranked anything with people i could talk to, having to be aware of what they're saying and doing and needing completely inhibits my ability to play, making the whole idea of being a good team useless. solo play is just easier most of the time.
Aqua feelings kinda resonate with me on certain level like ''playing solo is more comfortable'' tbf i dont have any social anxieties i just have keen sense of awareness where i notice the little things or what other people hint or stuff. But playing with a team or in gamer words, *stacking* has alot of advantage especially in rank matches , its very common for pro level player to stack so they can adapt learn and improve themself better as a team its like if you stack in a party but you know you are really good like Aqua but you still lost , either you made a mistake or your team made a mistake thats all. I play various competitive games CSGO , Valorant , Apex and other games as well , i have bunch of friends who wanna stack with me but sometimes it just made you more self conscious and turn into a NPC that you cant play at your peak performance as you play solo. Because you are too busy being self conscious and thinking what is best for your team that you lock your potential behind a bar and limit your skillset hence making silly judgement or poor decision choices that result in loses. BUT as a solo and team play myself i realise that adapting your playstyle to your team is pretty hard for people who is not used to team play most people failed to integrate themself in a team resulting in awkward gaming experience and made them frustrated and loses. For me what i find harder to find is the same person who share the same sentiment and also has sportmanship attitude and desire to win. Not just win and reach Master , Apex. But to win and keep winning while improving myself to be better or be the best team i could have. MANY people grow complacent and just stop playing when they reach certain rank like ''Ah i reach Dia GG guys i am gonna go off its a good game i am not climbing rank anymore you guys can climb'' Basically their goal is to reach certain rank and when they achieve it they dont wanna go further anymore . For me thats kinda sad you know?
I totally get you. People who want to rank up instead of actually wanting to improve at the game... if you aim to improve you will end up ranking even higher than if the only thing you aim for is a cool logo
I totally understand, when I play with a party I get too caught up in trying to be considerate and I became terrible at the game. I think that kind of thing can be mostly solved by practicing a lot with the same people.

Talk about being in the same position. I’ve never played rank with actual friends either. Sure I’ve played with a random for a few or 4 games of ranked but after adding them, I’ve never really tried to reach out or invited them. Also the fact that most players in asia don’t speak english decreases the chances of me ever playing with someone. I’m also scared of speaking to them too due to me realizing how toxic I was to my friends when I played with them, like are they gonna judge me or are they gonna find me annoying. Soloq in apex is a bit too unbearable but I can’t do anything about it, I chose to do it this way

Just because it's a team game doesn't mean you can't have fun as a solo player. The way she talks about it makes it seem like she would like to play with others, but she's really anxious about conversation and making sure they're having fun. When playing with friends, I can relate a lot to the "they're using this type of ammo so maybe I should switch guns or not be as greedy" "I have to remind them to grab a helmet or use their abilities correctly" little things that add up. It can take away from Aqua's normal play style and might make things difficult for her. I remember she's done a few Apex collabs in early 2020 but I haven't seen that lately, wonder if it is just her being nervous and overthinking.
