@Seba Tarth Anthony can be annoying but he can also be fantastic. He's iconic and the band wouldn't be right without him. I mostly bought the ticket because Frusciante is back, but there aren't many band line-ups as great as Kiedis, Frusciante, Flea, and Smith.
@@charleschi843 there are many singers /front men who aren’t the best sounding live. if you had ever went to a RHCP show in the late eighties, early nineties, you’d see the draw for sure. They had the energy of a punk band and they laid it all out on the stage. The best they ever sounded live (including Anthony) was at Slane Castle (Ireland I think). It’s a dvd. Give it a listen
For me the most beautiful thing about this moment is Chad holding down a simple groove allowing Flea and John to jam as the three of them are most likely in their green room tent warming up for their performance. It's these times, warm up, sound check, that some of the best ideas are born.
Chad: *drum beat* John: 5 notes and a couple chords Flea: “I paid for every fret and string on this bass, I’m going to USE every free and string on this bass”
Are they talented? John Patitucci is a talented bassist. Dave Weckl is a talented drummer. Frank Gambale is a talented guitarist. It takes no more than 2 years of practice to play this don’t forget me ending. RHCP are the most disappointing band in history. Musicians getting paid millions to not get better or improve in decades. Pathetic. Drugs aren’t that good. Practice.

This reminds me of their open guitarist auditions decades? ago. Fun and scary at once. I think Chad and his crew were the only ones left and they were jumping around as you followed a guy on bass, no count in, no key or anything. It was a blast and very humbling. Thanks guys if you're reading this.

A polarizing group. I had RHCP as a kid with blood sugar sex Magic. Favorite early CD. Then never listened to them much again until this new release. I revisited frusciante solos and got hooked. He’s super talented. Tried to tell my wife to ignore AK lyrics/singing 1:44 and listen to just the music. She couldn’t and told me to turn it off. I’m not sure where I sit with the band now but do 100% think musically they are so so talented. Gonna keep diving.
Ignore Anthony????? Anthony is 60% of the chili peppers...they are nothing without him. His unique incredible voice is what have the Chili Peppers their success. With him they are a very good trio..but many other talented musicians can do what Chad, flea and John do. Anthony however is absolutely irreplaceable
Looks like Flea's playing an old Ampeg tube amp, as opposed to the Gallien Kruegers he normally plays. Also love that new "support your local freak" bass.

Honestly I'm almost more excited for their jams in between songs at live shows than the actual songs.

Always good when a drummer knows his job
On a really simple and minimal drum kit. A great drummer doesn’t need much.
