In Senegal prostitution is legal, prostitutes get a health card from the authorities but have the obligation to get tested regularly, if not they face fines and possibly jail time. Senegal also has "la brigade des moeurs" it's a police unit in charge of randomly checking health cards to make sure that prostitutes are tested and don't have HIV, STDs, STIs. They also make sure that prostitutes aren't under age and aren't forced to do it. But the population in General think prostitution should be illegal because it's against our values and beliefs.

As a human being one must use his / her creativity and imagination to make a decent living. People especially women should refrain from "The Path Of Least Resistance" to challenge oneself to earn a better living. There are young folks in the Gambia, that are doing very well and not blaming the government for everything . The resources are there but are you being resourceful? So lack of resourcefulness is the problem with some of the people taking short cuts in their life! Unless and until you look at yourself in the mirror and take responsibility of your own situation, you will fail. When or if you change, everything will change but it starts with you. There is an African proverb saying " If there is no enemy within the enemy outside cannot do you no harm! Change starts with us. Its easy for us who live in West to judge these people when we live a privileged lifestyle compared to most Gambians.
