Kinda unrelated but a noob question. Shouldn't the coax center attach to the longer piece and the coax shield to the shorter piece?

in the 1990 i seen a guy made a j pole like that on his car but he use smaller stainless steal nice antenna

Does it matter which element I attach the braid or the centre conductor to? Ty

I may have seen a worse video on UA-cam ... but I can't remember when. If you're going to make a video -- don't start out by referring to some other video that your viewers probably haven't seen. Don't use jargon.
