We had the honor to sit down with Sebastian “Sushi” Biesler of GHØSTKID at the High Flames Festival in Maasen. GHØSTKID, Sushi's new project after Electric Callboy, dives deep into dark and aggressive sounds while keeping those catchy melodies he is known for.
In this interview, Sushi opens up about his journey, his learnings and why he doesn't warm up before shows anymore. He talks about his experiences on tour as well as the importance of having fun and the challenge of keeping cool when things don't go as planned.
"I know better now what mistakes to make and how to make them than how to do anything right."

He is 😅 I (on the left) was super nervous during the interview, first of all because it's Ghostkid and second because I was quietly pannicking that I didn't press record (which I was in every interview to be fair). Him crashing it and jumping around and the bassist staring at us in his creepy make-up made that so much worse. But it made the video really funny in hindsight and I am glad they did it😄
Er is halt einfach nen Studio Screamer. Kenne keine gute Live Aufnahme seiner Stimme, falls ihr eine habt, schickt sie gerne.
Wir würden ihn aber definitiv nicht als Studio Screamer abstempeln, seine Screams im Interview waren unglaublich laut und sehr beeindruckend und etwas, dass wir so von keinem anderen Vocalist gehört haben. Live klangen sie auch echt extrem gut. Kombiniert damit, dass die Jungs zweieinhalb Monate Tour hinter sich hatten und trotzdem so abgeliefert haben und Sushi stimmlich noch auf so einem Niveau unterwegs war, war schwer beeindruckend.
Auf einer persönlichen Note weiß ich aber nicht, wie lange das bei so starkem Zigaretten- und Alkoholkonsum gut gehen wird. Irgendwann holt das einen immer ein, auch wenn ich es mir absolut nicht wünsche für ihn.

Ich würde ihn auch nicht als schlecht darstellen. Ich finde jedoch, dass sich Aufnahme und Live, sehr stark von einander unterscheiden.
Für mich zeigt sich eine gute Band, dass sie Live, entweder gleich gut oder eben besser sind.
Hab ihn beim novarock live gesehen … war sehr beeindruckend! Hat gut abgeliefert.
