The best scene ever; but don't get it twisted. George's father never taught him how to shoot anything, he learned it in his time in the Union's Infantry instead. George acquired his gun when he went back to the Plantation from his father. That alone would be the "only" thing he ever gave him in life.

    • @torieowens8277

I’m African and unfortunately, the vast majority of us just don’t understand or know what happened to our brothers, sisters, cousins, parents when they got on those ships towards the new world. It’s movie like this that’s important to teach a valuable lesson that our African chiefs were wrong, slavemasters were wrong, the institution of slavery was wrong, and the Europeans powers that allow slavery to exist were wrong! Let’s be clear on these facts that 99% of Africans today had nothing to do with the slave trade and let’s be clear that the vast majority of white people had nothing to do with slavery. The problem that exist as of 2021 is the fact that ethnocentrism, racism, tribalism, prejudices, discrimination and hate that’s part of human nature, must be minimized by one towards other people, for there are people out there who have fallen victims to these human ills...making it difficult for them to put ENOUGH bread and butter on the table for them and their family members. The great news here is that we all have the power as individuals to change the world around us, to treat the next person with empathy --to treat others the way you will want to be treated, regardless of your social-economic status . In a nutshell, be kind and treat others with decency, while giving other people an opportunity to climb the economic ladder of life, in today’s society. In a nutshell, forms of inequalities continue to exist, almost everywhere....centuries and decades later! With self love, self preservation, safe communities and UNITY, our survival will continue to be ENSURED!!!Thank you. I love the bravery of Chicken George but this scene was just plain unrealistic...he was a Black/Biracial man in the 1800s South shooting a White man dead right in front of his parents? What I appreciated about the 1977 classic was the meticulous attention to detail and authenticity they poured into it. This scene comes across as a bit of fantasy and flat-out revisionist. Maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the real George would've been stupid enough to endanger his entire family by doing something like this in real life.

Got what he deserved. We are all equal black and white. As Morgan freeman once said, soon as u stop talking about racism then it no longer exists. I’m a white guy who loves his black brothers and sister as well as my white ones. 👍👍

shut the fk up with your virtue signaling garbage. the people in these comments will never like you no matter how much you like black people. youll always be hated for being white. sooner you learn that the better.

@@jonnyapplesead737That's not true. I would implore you to stop spreading such garbage. It's weak and small. Slavery and Jim Crow were atrocities. We in 2023 are not responsible for it, but it is our responsibility to learn from it and be better.

I’m 25% Irish, 25% Scottish, 25% Puerto Rican, and 25% native. And though my appearance is that of a handsome dark red hair ginger I was treated like crap all my life because of my red hair and light freckles and I would say 95% was from white people especially growing up they would call me bog trotter or ugly because I’m a ginger but funny thing is I’m handsome and sexy AF lmao

Those Democrats had been around before the war as they were for Southern Independence or a peace with slavery intact just they worked with their Southern friends once the war was over.
