      Joined the army just recently, though about joining the guards in 2018 I concluded it wasn't the time. In 2021, when ukraine and russia happened I started to think okay this might be the call. Waited a little bit cause I was still in school. The schooling I went through fell through and nothing came up for a job. The job I was working with had let me go. So here I am a guy about at the time 8 months out of college freshly let go from a workplace. I had nothing to loose. Here I am about 2 years later completed the Norwegian ruck, soldier of the month board, placed one of the top in AIT and basic. Im telling you Id never though I would I have gone this far.

    There is as much of a choice for me, I signed up last December. And I ship out January 22 of this year. So unless I want to spend time in jail, I going in. And I’m putting an end to prison tradition in my family, so boot camp is the option for me!💪

    • @jagergaming2281
      @jagergaming2281 9 місяців тому +2

      That is a lie! you will NOT go to jail for backing out last minute. I honestly WISH I would have backed out because now I realize how horrible of a mistake I made and that the Army is not for me. If you truly think the Army life is for you then think about it again. And when you think you might like it think again. If you still like it then go for it, but if you think at any point "maybe this isn't for me" then call up your recruiter and tell them you aren't doing it. They'll threaten jail/fines but it simply isn't true they cant take you to jail.

      @@jagergaming2281 Have a dead end job, no time or money for school, and being worked 16 to 24 hours, and constantly have to fight for your pay, and not be able to afford a home, doesn’t seem like a life that worth going back too. The army doesn’t sound that bad to me, be yelled at or mass punishment. Is not as bad as working 20 hours and yelled for showing up to the next day🙄

    • @jagergaming2281
      @jagergaming2281 9 місяців тому

      @@AnthonyBueno-wj2xi The mass punishment in training isn't bad. The yelling isn't bad either it's just stressful. But you will have similar issues in the Army as well. I have already had to fight with finance for my pay (what little I already get). You will get ACTUAL punishments (not just push ups) just because a NCO is mad and he decides you breathed the wrong way. And every day so far I have been working for AT LEAST 18 hours or more. Lord have mercy if you get a CQ shift at night because then you get no sleep and end up working for what seems like 48 hours straight and when you fall asleep standing up, leadership acts surprised. Oh and if you are sick/injured you practically gotta beg to go get seen and hope that you can make up whatever training you miss that day because of it. And on top of this, whatever pay you DO get, it's not enough to afford pretty much anything until you get into the NCO ranks (which is E5+ and that takes at least 2 or 3 years of service). I wish I would have just worked more hours at my job and crashed on a buddy's couch for a month or two until I could afford to move out rather than signing on the dotted line thinking I could handle it all. But hey, if you see the Army as a way out of the life you are currently living, all the power to you because I'm unable to handle this bullshit and every day Is one step closer to me just completely snapping and jumping out a 3rd story window.

    I joined the Army NG in 2007. I served 6.5 years part time. I deployed to Iraq for a year in 2008/2009. I earned my BA and MBA in the guard mostly free using NJ guard tuition waiver and post 9/11 GI bill. I medically retired from the guard due to an illness (non-combat) I sustained in Iraq. I might have developed my condition anyway, but since it was first diagnosed on active duty it is considered service connected. I have 100 percent VA rating and get over 4k a month tax free from the VA. I don’t pay property taxes on my house. I used my disabled veterans preference to land a good job with Social Security. I double dip between my salary and VA compensation. My student loans were forgiven due to my 100 percent rating. The Army was the best decision I ever made. I get Tricare insurance for me and my family for life. I get free dental at the VA. I also can use the VA for medical care for free. My wife and kids qualify for money for school under chapter 35 dependent education assistance from the VA.

    The military is best if you’re like 28+ and the chances of you retiring or owning a house is slim to none because the best you can do on the job market is land a job where the peak salary is $5-$10 above minimum wage, you’re better off joining the military and picking up a trade MOS. Become an army plumber or a navy HT, do your 20 years and then retire at 53 with a house to come home to somewhere in middle America.
    That’s honestly my plan. I’m 22 but I acknowledge that I’m behind life due to to a myriad of reasons, and the reality is that the best I can do on the job market is work in a warehouse or work as a line cook making $2-$5 above whatever McDonald’s is paying.

      You will be totally fine. Your concussion doesn’t matter I’ve had at least 3-5 concussions in my life and did fine, just wear glasses and you’re good. Just don’t mention the concussion and if they ask about it just play it down

    The only reason I dont regret joining after high school is because of the MGI BILL and the College Fund plus the extended GI kicker, and the VA loan which I still use and now have bought my second property. Im 43 now. I was in from 1998 to 2002. But those were the longest 4 years of my life. Should have done a 2 year but was told my MOS didn't allow for that. Also the "Military experience" didn't help any, I still got my first engineering job as a level 1 engineer. In retrospect I probably could have negotiated for a Level 2 since I was a SGT in the Army but I didn't. Im lucky I got out before the Iraq invasion because my entire unit was sent and I was concerned Id get called back when I was full time freshman in college.

    I am 26 years, and am leaving for basic training this summer, Army, 11B Infantryman. Plan on doing it for at least 4-8 years. Then switch my MOS to become an Army Chaplain, granted I get through the schooling while in to get my masters in divinity, and the schooling after to be a Chaplain. Part of why I didn’t these past couple years was because of the administration, fall of Afghanistan, what Mark Miley was talking about, “white rage,” and the woke military ads. But now I understand my service has nothing to do with that, it’s to serve the country, upholding the constitution and our bill of rights. In honor of those who have gone before myself in my own family, those who died, as all others from the founding of our nation. I am extremely excited to serve this country in my life, an honor to. Where I am in life as well, didn’t seem like I am going anywhere, so I can resonate with that. My Great Grandfather spent 31 years in the military. Fought in both WW2 and Korea. This is the best decision of my life and I feel God is calling myself to do so.
