Man such a killer stack, black jazz, meters, Eddie Kendricks I mean c’mon. So happy that Jards went your way. Onca Combo is one of my favorite newer Brazilian jazz releases. Different for sure. Thanks again for the video. Cheers!
Thank you my man! I’m so happy with that Jards. It honestly plays really well on my system, so thank you again! But it is such an interesting album! I dig it. Cheers man!
It’s one of my favorite albums! Easily my favorite trio album too. I’ve heard good things about those Japanese pressings! I almost bought one before I got hooked up with a really early one
@@trentsrecords Nice man, glad you were able to score that! Next time you're in Eugene and feel like grabbing a beer or going digging, I'd love to chat music.
I think I said $60 in the video but it was actually around $65. I’m digging it! Really has enhanced the sound quality I’m receiving and for a solid price. But I rarely see any Heron in my area so knew I had to grab it! Cheers Brian and thank you!
I honestly had no idea that it was until I got it home and did some deeper diggin on it! Made me appreciate it finding it! Love the album and it’ll definitely be staying with me! But Bowie’s the best hahaha. Cheers man!
Man, that is a killer stack! Lots of nice ones I wanna check out now. That is probably the cleanest jacket of the Meters I have ever seen. I have gone through 3 copies so far and my current one is a solid VG+++ vinyl but the colors on the jacket are a bit faded and just a tad dull but I can live with that. I am super stoked to see you have this album. It's one of my favorite records that hits my turntable on a regular basis. Love that Roamin' with Richardson album, too - really happy you picked it up. Originals of that are kinda hard to find nowadays. And your cat made an appearance! What a great video. Enjoy that Waltz For Debby! Cheers.
Thank you Ilya! Definitely check some of those out if you’re not familiar. I think there’s some things in there that you’d really enjoy! But I got really lucky with the meters! Sadly the vinyl is a solid VG and doesn’t match the state of the cover but that’s ok. It still plays really strong! It’s also been on my table quite a bit as well. The Richardson album is a really good session! I was fearful that there might be too much flute, but was pleasantly surprised. Thanks Ilya, cheers to you man!
Yes! I’ve heard really good things about them too. For some reason I like to torture myself and not buy very many reissues and just wait until I get an original copy. Not sure why I do it but my brain won’t let me buy reissues hahaha. Thank you for the suggestion though John! It is much appreciated! Cheers
Great vid as usual mate - especially the last couple of finds, especially the 'Waltz for Debby'. Although it's about the music, you do have some high end purchases there, which is excellent. BTW, just saying, when you said you worked with kids with disabilities, that means a lot to me hearing that for my own family reasons. You have a good heart bud, A+ with me🤗
Thank you my man! It’s definitely about the music, just happen to have a bit of expensive taste sometimes hahaha. But thank you man. It’s a tough job, but I do enjoy it quite a bit. The kids are great and we always have a good time! Cheers man!
Trent what an amazing score with that New Jazz Jerome Richardson session. Richard Wyands is such an amazing underrated piano player, I love New Jazz and have almost sixty of the run so far. Trying to find them all.
Hey man! Thank you! Yeah, I couldn’t believe how rare it was when I looked it up, and I just so happen to really really enjoy the session! I’m not too familiar with Wyands though, will definitely have to check more of his work out! But sheeeeesh, 60 is wild! That’s so cool, keep on goin! Cheers man!
That’s what I read! I read that Leon wrote most of Marvin’s stuff for I Want You and then had to go back and write whole new material and Musical Massage came out of that. How good can one dude write…sheesh! I really dig it. One of the best sounding albums in my collection now. Cheers man!
Seriously with that Jards Macale? Huge want. Waltz for Debby unbelievable. I have that Jerome Richardson too, it's one the rarest titles on New Jazz. Nice haul!!
I got super lucky with the Jards! Jason was nice enough to trade it to me, and Ilya with the waltz for Debby! All due to nice folks in the VC. But that Jerome is a great album! Still kinda can’t believe I have that one
I actually have a lot of records on the Flying Dutchman label (original 10100 series), none of which had custom inner sleeves. I think this started when RCA took over distribution in 1974. The album you showed would fall under the RCA time period.
Hey man! Great vid as usual. I have a low cost system right now with plans to upgrade in a couple of years but have been thinking hard about putting a pre-amp in the mix between by AT-LP-120-USB and my Onkyo 100wpc integrated I grabbed for like $40 off craigslist. You hearing more a warmth with the tube amp? I've seen good reviews on the one you picked up. Was also looking at Schiit Mani which is about $125 or so I think but it's not tube. Would be cool, if you have time obviously, to see a quick video comparing what you hear with and without the pre-amp in the mix. Thanks again!
I’ll be honest…I am definitely not the right person to be making videos on audio gear hahaha. I don’t know gear well enough to fully explain everything. All I can tell you is that the fosi has improved the sound enough to where I could notice a difference in the sound quality. It seems to be louder, have some more clarity and some extra oomph under the low end as well lol. I have no issues with it, except that I want to upgrade the tubes and see if that does anything different. A buddy of mine has the schiit and says it’s a really great little amp as well though! Sorry if this isn’t too helpful haha, but who knows, maybe it is lol. Cheers man!
Would love to find a copy of both Mirage-The Awakening and Meters S/T! Killer finds all around! I really need to downsize my collection just like you did! I’ve been guilty of buying some “filler” records over time and need to thin it out!
Hey Joe! I was super stoked to find both of those albums! The Meters was just soooo random but I couldn’t be happier! Now I need to find Look-Ka Py Py and Struttin…will prolly take me another few years lol. But I will say I don’t regret downsizing at all! It’s nice just having a more curated selection to choose from and now I’m a bit pickier when I’m out and about and it’s nice not buying an album and immediately thinking “why did I buy this?” Lol. Cheers Joe!
@@trentsrecords yeah I know what you mean when it comes to buying. I’ve bought some records and listened to them and immediately asked myself that question, but luckily none of them cost much money but they still take up space. I’ll probably be looking into cutting down the collection this summer. I saw a copy of Look-Ka Py Py at a store a few months ago and wish I grabbed it so that’s on my list too!
That Eddie Kendricks album is 🔥, I follow a 1975 rule, albums before 75 tend to be more funky, and after 75 the disco creeps in, my latest is some cheap heat and crazy funky, The Commodores Machine Gun for $6, also picked up Curtis Live, it’s a banger
Some of her solo stuff is comparable to Phyllis Hyman and her work with Norman Connors is classic. The track called Dindi is a standout!! She wails on that one!!
@@djvinylvertigo hahaha no worries man! Yeah, it’s just not my favorite vocal performance, but I also haven’t dove deep into her catalogue so I’ll have to check some other stuff out and see if I come around to it!
great hat I am listening to wake of the flood as I'm watching this..lol
It was meant to be! Hahaha, thanks for stopping by my man!
Wow. What a set of records!!! Grail upon grail. Well done. Meters and Bill Evans Trio originals!
Thanks Patrick! I was beyond stoked for each and every one of them hahah. Very happy and grateful to have em!
Sweet vid man! Love some of the titles you showed, Gil-Scott, meters, Yusef, both Bill Evans, and the Black Jazz stuff.
Hey man, thank you! Was very lucky to be able to get all of em. Cheers dude!
That Leon Ware sealed for $1 is incredible! Congrats!
Thank you! Once I got it home and listened to it I was hooked. One of the best sounding albums in my collection! Cheers dude!

You are very welcome!
Waltz For Debbie! Such a gorgeous masterpiece... I've been eyeing the mid 70s Japanese pressing on Discogs. I should pull the trigger.
It’s one of my favorite albums! Easily my favorite trio album too. I’ve heard good things about those Japanese pressings! I almost bought one before I got hooked up with a really early one

That Meters…🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The best!!!
That's a cool-looking pre-amp. I've never found a good copy of that Gil Scott Heron record for a good price. Great finds.

Great finds! That Leon Ware is a lowkey grail and cant believe you found it so cheap. The Meters too ooohh 🔥🔥
Awesome appearance by Bowie 😄
I honestly had no idea that it was until I got it home and did some deeper diggin on it! Made me appreciate it finding it! Love the album and it’ll definitely be staying with me! But Bowie’s the best hahaha. Cheers man!
Cool, I just also found a Waltz for Debby in original (dutch) edition!

Real Gone Music has been reissuing titles from Black Jazz- John (So I Married A Record Collector)

I like soul music. Eddie Kendricks is cool. I remember his single Boogie Down back in 1973. I was a teenager then.
Eddie Kendricks is really great! I’ve been on a big soul kick and need to get some more back into my collection
