AH!!!! PA need to keep this as a long running, like forever running thing. Need to permanently take on continual CoC scenarios from here on out. I'll definitely be watching these if so!
Getting to play with Mike Mason himself, quite something. My group are currently a ways into the famous Masks of Nyarlethotep campaign. Love the elegant simplicity of the system. We've folded part of the "pulp" rules into our game, so we have some talents and enough health if we're careful we may not need to roll up a new character every d6 sessions.
Nice GMing from Mike M. The "neighbors have told me" is a nice way to manage table time and introduce other perspectives quickly/subtly. I was also convinced that Nevada one-shot the main NPC for a second there. Whether he did or not, Mike does a spectacular job withholding information so long as to maximize his options later. He also shows what is possible with a CoC scenario.
This was a very cool run of the paper chase. I liked how the interaction with Douglas was brief and bizarre, compared with the softer tone of the suggested play. Brilliant.
This was the first full actual play ttrpg session I watched all the way through. Thanks! Also the slightly revamped CoC system sounds like something I need to get on.
Spoiler alert... Twenty seven and a half minutes in Jerry takes damage from an investigation role. Awwww yissss! That sweet critical fail role strikes no matter what platform ya play ya'll!
Great stuff! I am just about to run this scenario as my first CoC game. To hear how Mike Mason distributes clues & handles the questions is a massive help in solidifying the story for me. 👍
I was surprised how many Sanity checks were made for the same creatures during the same encounter. I would have thought that the first SAN check made when the party first the claw, would have sufficed.
You can lose up to the maximum amount of sanity possible for a particular monster. A ghoul can cause you to lose 6 sanity max so if you rolled a 1, then you'd have to roll again for the next ghoul you see. Once youve reached that cap then seeing the samw creature wont cause any more sanity loss. At the end of a session you'd remove a point. So if you had lost 6 sanity total for seeing ghouls, youd be fine for the rest of the session. At the end that 6 would fall back to 5, and 1 more after each session.
Well, science is not a body of knowledge, but a way of thinking, so the fact that Keiko did found something absolutely unknown it would mean just that a deeper understanding of the so-called occult is needed, but that it's still just a part of the natural world and that it can also be studied using the scientific method. I wonder why i don't ever get invited to play Call of Cathulu tho.
He pronounced it right. Corvidae is a latin name of the bird family (including crows, ravens, rooks, jackdaws, magpies, etc.) but the English word for it is Corvids. The "ae" suffix signifies plural, like the s does in English.
Is there ever a member of the group who is actually a deep cover agent for the cult? And they suddenly reveal themselves as the villain and become a recurring enemy for future games?
Awesome roleplaying and DMing, very funny and engaging. Spoiler related comment. One thing I'd have done differently was when everyone crawled inside the mausoleum I would have had one person take watch outside while the others explored below. Even though it's dangerous splitting the party I thought it would have been even more dangerous if the groundskeeper was in on it and he or possibly someone else could have closed the lid and locked them all down there with those things, that would have been either a game over or they'd have to have been extremely lucky to try and escape through the tunnel network. Great outcome however, hope to see more to come.
Great game. I feel she should have received a phobia on her critical fail then some san regained once she saw they can be killed or maybe that's what would snap her out of her madness.
I was surprised how many Sanity checks were made for the same creatures during the same encounter. I would have thought that the first SAN check made when the party first the claw, would have sufficed.
PLEASE make call of cthulhu a recurring game. I need this in my life
I think we saw Mike and Jerry boiled down to their play styles here. Would support a full time Cthulhu game
I love this. This needs to be a regular and frequent show on twitch/youtube. Mike is brilliant.
Actually, I'm 68 years old. After watching this I realized, Thank God I'm a player and not a real character in this quest.
YES. So happy to see Jerry and Mike take on CoC
Right I hope this becomes a series.
Perv

More Call of Cthulhu PLEAAAAASSSEEE. More Mike!
I’m down for anything with Jerry and Mike. Those two’s banter is amazing regardless of what characters they are playing.
Love to see them do a Call of Cthuhlu series.
Jason Brown honestly, I don’t know shite about CoC.

Please return to this in the future. Could be a cool mini-series.
This is PAPER CHASE from the starter set ! Very cool adventure !! My players loved it !!
My favorite thing about this is that it shows that no matter what system is played, Jerry will critically fail on his roll.
This was wonderful, couldn't take my eyes off! Really hope there will be more of this, even if it may be unlikely.
Yes, yes, yes. More of this please. This is amazing.
I'd love to see a regular PA CoC campaign. Mike and Jerry as players together is awesome.
All these jars -- the true Unknowable Evil what filtered down from the stars.
This was a very cool run of the paper chase. I liked how the interaction with Douglas was brief and bizarre, compared with the softer tone of the suggested play. Brilliant.
I’m loving DM Mike’s “Olde Money Michigan” accent. 😂😂
Maybe he's just from the UP?
Mike is an amazing Keeper as expected.
This was the first full actual play ttrpg session I watched all the way through. Thanks! Also the slightly revamped CoC system sounds like something I need to get on.
I'm getting REAL University Challenge vibes form the way Mike Mason and the players are arranged.
This kind of story is definitely my favorite (as a dm), I may have to switch from DND to call of Cthulhu
Hell Yea! Any time Jerry and Mike are together makes for a great time.
Critical Roll AND Penny Arcade playing Call of Cthulhu on stream? Idk who pleased the Old Ones, but thank you!
God I'd love a Pulp Cthulhu campaign with the PA gang.
I would watch this a series.
Both Critical fumbles (d100%) in this session were perfect.
So awesome! My favorite RPG! Hopefully this is a series!
Two hours of Mike kicking ass and taking names. Beautiful. Also, GMs need British accents. It's a rule now.
Spoiler alert... Twenty seven and a half minutes in Jerry takes damage from an investigation role. Awwww yissss! That sweet critical fail role strikes no matter what platform ya play ya'll!

Thank you for sharing this video. Very interesting to see how the author of CoC manages the game. Thanks!
"Imagine if you will: A ~dark~ Michigan"
This is AMAZING!! I NEED more of it. Thanks guys :D
I hope this becomes a full series like Team C
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to cow-relate all its contents.
10/10
Punstur the Unspeakable.
I love how Jerry is still in DM mode
Very awesome Call of Cthulhu is seriously one of my favorite systems. Very awesome line up of players!
Took advantage of the discount. Starter set on its way. Hail Cthulhu :-)
haha identified the scenario in the first few sentences by mike mason haha
Jerry's First Roll is a Critical Fail out of a 100 on his best skill.
He's a cursed boy.
This was great, Fine players, and Mike was a fantastic GM.
Jerry is excited about the Library Use skill
First roll of the game is his Library Use
He rolls 100
So fucking perfect 😂
"I've only seen tracks like this once before... This isn't 'cow', you fools! It's GOATS!"
Moar eldritch adventures from Penny Arcade!
Yes! Mike is playing Nevada Jones. My favorite starter set character. 😎😁
'i don't even know what shirk means' - nevada jones
Jims first magic missile 20 ;)
Really enjoyed this. Hoping for more

Hoping to see Pat Rothfus guest on COC.
He already is the king of b.s.; imagine him with refreshable luck!
@39:11 The inability of anyone at this table to read a D100...
Loved it. But next time put a spoiler warning. This was the "Paper Chase" module (included in the starter set).
Thanks so much! Had to check with my Keeper to make sure I can watch this, and you helped.
Absolutely love this, please do more!!!! :-)
More of these please!!!!
Yyyyyeesssss. I've been waiting for more people to play some CoC. I love CoC! And I love Penny Arcade! It's PERFECT
Love it though i would like t see at least once Jerry as Keeper!
This was a very fun watch!
This was absolutely fantastic.
Mike rolls 105% on 100% scale
No one died or went permanently insane? Mike Mason was too soft on them! :-)
It's an extremely easy scenario, designed for 1 or 2 players. Only so much he could do...
More please!
Please make more... Soon !
"Welcome to Nevada!" lol.
Hockey stick in Michigan, perfect.
Jerry. Despite all statistics rolls the worst possible thing. I believe in math, but I doubt myself every time I see him roll.

I too love the Library Use skill.
Holy shit! @1:06:56 Wentworth prodicted the Corona virus by calling it Corvid (crows are actually Corvidae, he pronounced it wrong)

Jim Winks
Nevada's from an earlier time, but remember kids: "don't drink and scythe".
1:04:32
Don't mind this, it's just a bookmark
How can a window be a jar? Classic.
gotta say, pretty good GM
Things are not always as they appear in a Lovecraftian milieu. Whereas, a window is a jar. LOL!!! But in all seriousness, I'm lovin' this video :)
Running 4 players for Paper Chase? Man it is Mike but still that might be harsh without a lot of additions.
...and obviously the first roll is a critical failure! :-D
At library skills nonetheless! I imagine he gets a paper cut, while forgetting to write down the titles, after he misfiled them.
More please!!!!!😗😗😗
This makes me so happy!!!
Yes Jerry it's a great Mully to Scculder ratio. Lmao
i would love to see a brand new campaign like this or some other setting apart from C team. c team = bae but something new would be cool too.
I want to know what Jerry did to piss off the Dice Gods so badly

This was the first CoC but not the last right ?
Love Omen(Jerry) and Jim(Mike) in a team :D
Gonna have to listen all the way.through amazing
Everyone needs a British DM.
Love it!
It's almost like the bald grey shirt enjoys the sound of his own voice..
how is chris not in this
very cool, and hope you keep doing follow ups as you teased on twitter, @TychoBrahe!
Ah heck yeah
I wish could hit like more than once.
Who I Dora? We need more of her.
Nevada is a badass.
The players playing Nevada and Keiko are a bit grumpy.
Pls make this asserted this is so cool
Series
