NC MOUNTAINS ❤. Fy03.. KILLER ! Got one on 3s and 2s 100c..brushed 390 airplane motor!! 3 years old soon!❤.. KILLER rc!! . Getting the new lights for . . Sweet video👍👍!!
use 2 round neoprene/rubber servo grommets, put them on a small screwdriver shaft, slice the center tube sections out (carefully cut them flat+flush, pretty easy tho). one grommet makes 2 oil seals for the stock shocks. pop the bottom spring keeper off, remove shock end, remove bottom threaded cup, wet them with a little oil and mount them in flat side up. you'll see inside the cup is a small shallow bowl shape, when putting them back on just a little snug with your fingers is good. rear shocks are pretty happy with 30wt, fronts want about 80wt for being shorter with stronger springs. spent near zero, works great! edit: the stock shocks ARE made for it, they just don't put seals or oil in em darnit.
Is there any chance you would try doing a touring build with a 12428 (or better yet a 12423)? I'd like to see one with a 7000kv castle on 3s riding on foamies, but I'm too broke to do it to mine lol
@Little Miss Sunshine yeah, I spent like 3 hours looking for wheels and tires on eBay yesterday. I finally found a set on Amazon for a good price, and they have seventeen mm hexes( which I'm bidding for a cheap set of adapters to go with). My 12423 has a 4300kv goolrc motor, so I'm hoping for about 45+ on 3s. If I go for a higher kv motor, I'll most likely get some 67mm(diameter) wheels so something doesn't break
😃👍This one looks pretty good! the 2S lipos just give you a bit more speed over the li ions but they give you much more punch over the li ions that's for sure! Nice run!
lol there ya iz! I'm really much more impressed with the direction you took your 12428 for crawling/bouncing/climbing trails, excellent appropriate modding.
So in your opinion, which is the better long term upgradeable/tunable car out of the Feiyue and WLToys, which is the least "plasticky" and which has the better spares back up?
If I had to choose, I'd get this as the build quality is better. The plastics are not as flexible/soft as the 12428 so may not be as durable. But I still think this is the one.
Anyone know if those Awanfi 2s Lipo batteries be charged with the charger this buggy comes with? I just bought the batteries and they say to use a Lipo charger. Thanks
Hello Phil. I've been watching your videos on this model and I'm quite interested in getting a brushless one. I wanted to ask your opinion about the version with the full metal upgrades. Do you think it's worth getting that, or stick with the plastic component one and just get the oil shock upgrade. I know that all plastic can be better for absorbing the force of impact related crashes etc, and too much metal can be worse in some cases. Although I'm not too bothered about the speed side of things I would think all the metal would cause a bit of stress to the motor and slow it down a bit too. The full metal version does look very nice in a Bling Bling way, but is it worth the extra pounds in your opinion. I would appreciate your thoughts on this. I've never owned a Feiyue or WLToys etc so I don't really know a lot about them. Thanks mate 😊👍
Hi mate. I saw the metal one, and although it looks very ‘bling’, I’m not sure it’s worth it. This one out the box is good, and adding a 2s Lipo wakes it up somewhat. I put a better motor in and that woke it up even more! These are very tough and I’ve only broken the plastic front driveshaft (you can get metal upgrades for them). Anyway, certainly a good fun truck, and adding some cheap oil shocks makes it handle a little better!
@@TomleyRCThank you very much for the advice. I will stick with the standard one and add the oil shocks and driveshafts. Do you have a link for the motor you put in it please.
Looks good, best twin hammer clone of all the semi hobby grade cars out there yes tbh it is true hobby grade but you know what I mean. Before you bother with a new motor I would try two things first, larger pinion gear as the truck seems to be geared quite low and or a 3S lipo, may be running quite a lowish KV so 3S may be running closer to it's optimum performance :) I think you and most people would be genially surprised how much more powerful you can squeeze out of some small brushless motors and still be quite reliable. I have a WLtoys 1:12 K959 with a 2850 size motor and on 3S I got 88k/h and 65k/h on 2S and that's lugging a iPhone 6S for the GPS speed recording! Anyways even on 2S it's too fast on full power so I run mostly on about 70% power at about 45-50k/h top speed.
@@druscanam wow this FY03H seems impressive out of the box. Mine is coming in the mail today and I have yet to purchase batteries. You think a 3S 40C is overkill? Or are the 25-30C ones ok?
Cool video dude 👍 I have an old brushed version that stopped working a long time ago just haven't got around to fixing it yet, think it just stopped going forwards everything else still works lol😂
opinion (pun!), trying to impress with speed, they over gear them. a pinion gear 3-4 teeth smaller can help prevent thermal shut down, motor heating, ESC failure. all these 12428's and clones are top heavy, rolling/flipping when turning, so I'm "over it" with "lets make it faster" stuff, for these models anyway. making the oil seals and cutting 1.5 turns off the shock springs for easier flex (use needle nose pliers to re-flatten the new shorter spring ends), a 10T pinion in my 390 powered Virhuck V-01, it's now a nice crawling/bouncing/climbing beast. it reaches its new lower full speed (about 9mph) in 10-12 feet, about right for crawling/bouncing/climbing, much better run time from 1500mah too. I might decide to bump up to a 12-13 tooth if I can find 48P for 2.3 mm shaft. just 2-3 days ago I looked, sure enough, there is a hole about 5 mm shorter on the steering servo's arm, a little less lock to lock steering, but lets the stock steering servo deliver about 30-35% more torque for steering, another place these are known to be kinda wimpy and often failing. took the cue's from ShenRC's 12428 videos, heating and twisting the front lower A-arms to put the front kingpins nearer vertical also takes stress off the steering servo, the rear of the wheels aren't trying to "bite into the ground" and lifting the front end as it's being turned. I really like how they look, they're just not suited to going very fast. it doesn't take much to get them unstable rolling and flipping. set up to crawl/bounce/climb they're also not a threat to themselves with "too fast for their own good", will save you hassles of ordering and waiting on a slow boat from China for replacement parts, and the hassles of having to do the parts replacements. I do like vehicles that can handle going FAST, but to me these just aren't that. lol, end rant/lecture/opinion...
