The Flip 4 has actually 4 different modes - I guess they are 4 different fixed internal EQ settings. One is very flat sounding with almost no deep frequencies - and the 3 others all have a slightly different BASS setting. Theres only one of those 3 Bass modes that I really like with very clear and balanced mid frequencies - the other 2 are too bass heavy for my taste.
Well, I did a little further research and it seems there's only really one mode you should use. When you do a factory reset of the Flip 4 - it will go back to the correct mode. The other ones aren't meant for listening purposes. As far as I could find out is, that these additional modes are implemented by JBL only for testing purposes and shouldn't be used for listening. The Flip 4 sounds the best in the standard mode anyway.

It has nice sound for 60-70€ but it cost 80-90€ Also is waterproof!! Nice if you want something like this!!
