- Hey y'all!! This week I decided to cover the song that actually got me into musical theatre! I ended up hearing a cover of this song from my friend, anna, and as soon as I finished listening, I knew I had to check out the original as well! From there I got suuper into Beetlejuice and then I branched off into a ton of other musicals that I really came to love!! I wanted to wait and cover this song when I actually felt that I could do it justice, and I think I'm finally happy enough with how I sound singing it!! The show that got me into musicals was actually Matilda: The Musical! It was the first show I saw when I was like nine or something and it lead me down a bit of a rabbit hole as I got older, haha.

Hamilton introduced me to musical theatre... but The BJ musical is what opened my eyes and showed me a whole new side of my life i never new existed... not I'm into musicals like RTC, BMC, and DEH! Awesome cover! :)
There are a few major inflection points: my dad was super into the sound of music, grease and Westside story, so I was sort of aware of musical since I was a kid, but obviously I couldn't get too into them.
I sort of got into ABBA because of the Mamma Mia release but I don't know if that counts because I basically jumped the soundtrack straight to the source. Jukebox musicals get so tricky!
But I first REALLY got into On my Own from Les Mis, this was after the movie came out, and I didn't quite get what everyone was on about until my mom gave me the album from I think it was the West End cast. If I need a good cry I still listen to On My Own or Bring him Home. That was early high school so I needed a lot of cries then X'D.

I got into musical theatre because of the song "Don't Lose Your Head" from SIX :D
And then some of the animators started doing Hamilton songs because of the Disney+ mania so I decided to do further research on what it was. I've been exploring the Musical Theatre world ever since

Well, I grew up watching musicals. Cats and Phantom were probably first though (we had Cats on video). If I had to pick one song though, it would probably be 'The Phantom of the Opera'. I used to sing it endlessly - sorry, Mum! 😅😂

The first song that got me into musicals? Oh gosh it was literally singing in a pirate themed musical when i was in kindergarten. I've lived for that high ever since.

Amazing cover! I actually was thinking about singing this soon too, but it wasn't the song that got me into musical theatre. Idk what song was my favorite, but as a kid, my baby-sitter had the soundtrack from Wicked and would play it in the car all the time. I'd have to say that's what got me into musical theatre but funny enough, I actually have still never seen the musical.

I love it? I generally listen over musicals (or bands, or albums) obsessively when I find one I like. So I have this musical’s soundtrack (and so many others) practically memorized. And I can hear the changes you made. Little twists here and there, in the tempo, in the intonation of certain words, in some notes. Not necessarily for better or for worse, but this is the stuff that makes your art distinctive. Kinda like an art style, I guess. I think all artists have these little quirks, and it’s always exciting to find them.

The first annual theatre song that got me into theatre had to be satisfied but I absolutely spent most of my time listening to beetlejuice with say my name but this was my second and I thought it was absolutely lovely and I just wanna say like I always do I love your voice and the songs you cover. 6th grade me was just flooded with emotions and enamored with the thought of someone loving you so much, the mere sound of your name was beautiful and could fill them with such joy. My dad brought a copy of WSS on vhs months prior so after that introduction, you can bet your bottom dollar that I watch that VHS like my life depended on it lol. I found a DVD copy in a grocery store a month after that, and I’ve been buying different copies to have my own collection of WSS since 💕

hey I really love your covers :) Great work! To make them even better I would suggest to add lyrics in the video. For me it would make understanding much simpler because english isn't my first language plus I could sing along without searching for it and need to open another browser window. The manual subtitle is pretty fast to follow

What got me into musical theatre was Riverdale's Carrie and Heather episodes, I liked the songs, then I searched about the original musicals (that's when I realized how terrible Riverdale's renditions were) and got super into it...Eventually I watched Mamma Mia and Glee...And I fell in love, musical theatre is so fucking important to me...Ever since I was a little boy I was already obsessed with Disney Songs, which are heavily inspired by musical theatre...Anyways, although Riverdale is trash, the fact that it lead me to the love of my life, my reason to breathe...Makes me not hate it at all ❣️
