I earlier purchased this album based on your Sibelius violin concerto review two years ago. And you are entirely correct about its virtuosic quality. Thank you so very much.
I bought this recording based on a Dave’s earlier video and I love it. My introduction to Viktoria Mullova was her recording of Shostakovich violin concerto 1, and that is a dark brooding rendition, especially during the Passacaglia movement. Have also heard her Mozart violin concertos recording which is fabulous.
Hi Dave, got her Mendelssohn's concertos and really liked her playing. Will get this one for sure. With Ozawa and Boston, playing Sibelius and Tchaikovsky, it's a no brainer. Thanks.

I bought this disc some 20 years ago and still very much enjoy it today. Tchaikovsky piece is unbelievealbly well played, Ozawa is great.
The Sibelius just knocked me out. This is music making from another world.

I adore the Sibelius, and Oistrakh above all, but she is superb, yes!

Absolutely agree. I have this recording (and others by Viktoria) and her sounds are head and shoulders above most others. As is her Beethoven …..
Spot on Dave... The Sibelius is haunting and not surpassed .
I agree. I have this recording it's great.
"....I'm gonna build an ashtray: chugga-chugga-chugga-chugga.." LOL You made my day!
I'm still looking for my jaw on the floor after listening to her Sibelius.
Agree 100% Dave. In fact, that 3-CD box set could be considered "One of the greatest box set collections - EVER!" Well, in my very humble opinion.
Dave when you mention a favourite it sells out quickly on various websites or shoots up in price 🤔
It's been that way for a while. Dave has more influence than he knows.
What about Ida Handel's playing violin concerto of Sibelius?
What about it? This video is about Mullova.
@DavesClassicalGuide Mullova in Sibelius the greatest ever??? !!! 🤔
What do you think of Gidon Kremers recording of the Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto?
