Mingi started to write the lyrics during the time he took an hiatus from Ateez because he was suffering from anxiety. He took approximately 8 months off. Atiny’s were just so happy to see his return to the group. Yunho contributed to the lyrics as well and the other team members made a few suggestions. Yunho was really hurt because his friend since middle school was suffering so much and wanted Mingi to know he can lean on him. Mingi tea wanted Yunho to be part of this MV since they have been friends for so long.❤

Long comment/incoming lore (my interpretation)
The masks are both representative of youth and part of the lore. In the lore, Mingi's character has a very difficult time and has a lot of confrontations, including physical. the people in masks are representing the sources of those confrontations and also all the different faces/aspects those take on in your youth.
When Mingi and Yunho (characters) look into the shack, they're looking into their past/youth- Mingi sees the difficulties and confrontations he faced, and it shows the different ways he dealt with those confrontations; Yunho's shows the car wreck that took his brother, the guitars and studio setup associated with his brother, all of the things around the loss of his brother. So having that burn down at the end, and having them walk away from that together, is essentially showing that they made it through dealing with those things together and they will face whatever comes together.
Now, besides the lore, we have the autobiographical elements in this song. One of your commenters in the stream nailed this. Mingi wrote a lot of this song while he was on hiatus and he said he only wanted to do this song with Yunho, so the lyrics and song have a lot of personal meaning in them linked to their actual youth spent together, and moving through that to get to where they are now. In that context, it's important to remember that Yunho and Mingi have been close friends for around a decade now, so they spent a lot of their teen years together.
I personally like the style choices for them. Mingi is darkness, shadow-esqe, as compared to Yunho in softer lighter attire. To me it represents the internal struggle of one and the soft heart wanting to help bring back lightness to his heart. (Just my thoughts. )💜

I saw the mask but did you notice that when Mingi is sitting across from the guy and you see his scratch the first time if you look behind him that there is a Mingi looking in the window at him and Yunho with the car is lore of his brother getting killed by a car

This song is my absolute favorite out of the units. It's just so...real.
all the mvs are connected by lore but they overlap well with reality sometimes it's just not really explicit so it's open to interpretation but what makes ateez be great it's that you can understand and relate without knowing them or their lore.
I always watch the choreo because I want to see how the choreographer is interpreting the song itself. I think that started when I started watching Taemin because he is so damn good at it. From there it spread to paying attention to the choreo more.
And yes I think we all don masks at some point Also agree with you on trying to figure out who else and why others are masked.
And yes, Mingi always catches your attention.

Oh I absolutely watch choreo for the story being told! How they reflect (or sometimes even contradict) the lyrics, how the emotions are being betrayed, all of it. It's why I feel like facial expressions are VERY important for choreo. For instance, Hyunjin's choreo for "Play With Fire" -- his movements and expressions, and even his clothing, and how it changes over the routine, tell a fantastic story that I feel like most people miss, and even without the lyrics I think the story is still very clear.

You are funny talking about tricky. So it is part of the lore, but it is also a way for someone to understand a situation that cannot be told with words. We all have this symbol on us, the mask with multiple face/multiple moods. If you are in a position to deal with a lot of persons, you have to guess which mask/personality/mood is talking/expressing itself to you. Sometimes its not even related to you...for exemple being yeld at for no reasons and you later hear that the one that yeld at you had an argument at home, which had noting to do with you at all.
People are working for their self interest so it is difficult to lead a group of people (in business for exemple).
The lore of ateez tells how to move to different dimensions. It is very clear and very useful.
