This song was made for her voice, my goodness. I've loved "Both Sides Now" for a long time, but listening to Mary sing it feels like hearing it for the first time all over again. Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.
You know a true artist when they can take a song that has been covered by so many other great voices and can still make it sound like the song was written especially for her to sing.
INCREDIBLE!! I've listened to music all my life, and out of every female singer I have ever heard, this lady is by far my very favorite!! She's unique!! She's brilliant in her arrangements, & execution of all her songs!! What a voice!! Thank you Mary!! Love You!!

Well said my man. I discovered Joni Mitchell recently as I forgot all about Both Sides Now. Came to find out several artists do a cover. Check out Hayley Westenra's version.
We live in an era of screeching X Factor Whitney wanabees who mistake shouting for power and yodelling for feeling. Listening to Mary Fahl should be compulsory.
Wow ! My friend just told me to listen to Mary and I picked this song. I am impressed. From the moment I heard her deep voice, I knew I was on to a new sound. I love her voice and the arrangement of the music is so fine. The video also is impressive, especially the black and white part with the kids riding around and the couple hugging, in love. Fantastic !
It doesn't get any better than Mary Fahl. From October Project to November Project, and her solo career....she stands out from all the rest. What a voice and interpreter of songs. GENIUS

I never really -- I mean REALLY -- understood this song/felt it in my bones until I heard Mary sing it. Now? I'm slain by it. What a marvelous cover this is!
this song gets a new ethereal environment on mary's voice she performs estremally emotionally and hole thing ,becomes something spiritual conecting us with some bigger above us and somehow this song gives me some hope!!!!
"And if you care, don't let them know. Don't give yourself away" . But I did care and they knew it. I gave myself away. Caring was my weakness and they destroyed me with it.
And there it was and is (and by far surpasses what you ever could expect); that immense masterpiece of Joni Mitchell .... Since the year 2000 she 's been singing her own song in such an unparalleled stunningly beautiful way. She wrote about the existential essence of life. And having such a virtual retrospective in mind as a young woman is amazing. She has matched the lyrics to the melody in such an exceptional way .... Lyrics which try to grasp the inability why we live.. And so we rock and sway on the golf slag of love, hope, loss, expectations. ..and all this sweet bitterness. And eventual a day comes where the illusions of our personal infinity or greatness is over. And who talks about Joni... has to talk about Judy. Because it was Judy Collins( in 1965)who gives this song it recognition widely all over the world. (Judy with crystal clear voice was on her best on the piano in 1987.) We heard someone singing this melody in such a humble and lovely way in the earlier seventies.... I didn't know who the performer was....I didn't' know the man's name...That warm unique voice accompanied by a bit of tristesse … a voice and soul ready to forgive … Julio Bernardo Euson, a bit divine .. He was young and relatively unknown....So he hadn't any special means or recourses at his disposal.... I've always loved the version done especially by Roger Whittaker. And I like that exquisite rendition of Glen Campbell. And don't forget that wonderful extra verse by Pete Seeger:"Daughter, daughter...." We have to look at all these versions as complementary renditions. Not as competitors of each other. No one is going for an Olympic medal. So after all these years I created my own list of renditions which are moving up my soul.. Recently I added Mary Fahl to that list. She feels it in such a poignant way. And that deep "bronze" voice of her gives such an enrichment ... And of course Sara Bareilles...she is so talented....an amazing voice and such a great artist. But I've loved many performances of this song.... Name it!...And it isn't important who sings it the best... that doesn't matter. The important is the quality... by bringing it in such a honestly way that you could feel the different approach in contemplating about the subject.... And the "thrill" is in the discovering of the different way of ventilating these feelings. That makes it so intriguing.
I would like to bring this great version to your attention!... Marc Jordan - Both Sides Now (Joni Mitchell Cover) .. A very special rendition! So intriguing. I got a bit mesmerized.
+Keith Richards Stones To your ears yes. To the whole world, no. Saw her 2yrs, ago in a very small venue. She did this and a Pink Floyd cover as well. Just her and her acoustic guitar. Good show. She is your favorite female vocalist. So to YOU, this means she is the best.
Check her out in the band October Project. She was on the first two albums back in the 90s. Just amazing. My first experience was the song, "Return to Me". Just haunting and amazing. Cheers
I've played and sung this wise song myself so many times as one of my personal all time favourites. And today I came across this version, sung by Mary Fahl. Doesn't her intense voice go below everyone's skin? It always brings shivers to my spine and rises water in my eyes. Joni Mitchell must have written 'Both Sides' to be (dis)covered in so many beautiful ways...
We owe this song to Joni, it has been covered by so many over the last decades, but Mary's version really hits me best. Loved October Project, after hearing them in the movie Blown Away.
Mary Fahl I found a Symphony in a thimble, Delicate and nimble. A tempest in a gentle breeze. A voice soul deep; A range so wide. Where I believe we could hear A chorus of angels If we could just hear her breathe.
A Facebook friend of mine listened to my new release "Find Your Way" and compared my voice to Mary's, which is a supreme compliment as Mary's voice is so rich and beautiful.
One of the better covers of this song ... she seems to capture the true mix of emotions in this song. Really nice job. Sung as a ballad, not a showcase for a voice but a display of emotional understanding of a song's underpinnings.
Epic singer Mary Fahl, of Gods & Generals and the likes. Reminds me of Celtic lyrics. Kind emerald regards & love from Ashford, co Limerick, republic of Ireland. She is defo in my top 10 fav singers.
And as the Heavenly Choir took brief leave of the Throne Room to contemplate their hymns of praise, one of their number slipped away and came to walk among His children on earth. She came to lift their hearts with her singing, to banish for a time those constrictions of the world, to share the pure joy of her gift and restore their souls.
So, so lovely! I love Mary's pacing from line to line: not rushing it when the song calls for reflection and hesitation ("Rows and flows of angel hair ... And ice cream castles in the air"); then singing with a kind of push when the song speaks to effort and exertion ("I've looked at clouds from both sides now"); and finally sort of sighing when the song is about disappointment and resignation ("I really don't know love"). She nails the emotions of this song, and sings it deftly!
Mary could sing my grocery list, and I would weep. What an amazing voice, I have loved you since October project
😂😂😂this was really funny. Thanks for makingme smile again after crying tor her songs😅

Indeed !
I would also add Annie Hazlett to that list
Absolutely!!
In Mary Fahl we finally hear someone who has the maturity to understand - and the ability to express - the full emotional depth of this song.
Bing Crosby also fits 2 a T.

Mary Fahl is my absolute favorite female singer, but Joni did a great job with this song as well.
Lyrics
Rows and floes of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
Looked at clouds that way
But now they only block the sun
They rain and they snow on everyone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way
I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down and still somehow
It's cloud illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all
Moons and Junes and Ferris wheels
The dizzy dancing way that you feel
As every fairy tale comes real
I've looked at love that way
But now it's just another show
And you leave 'em laughing when you go
And if you care, don't let them know
Don't give yourself away
I've looked at love from both sides now
From give and take and still somehow
It's love's illusions that I recall
I really don't know love
I really don't know love at all
Tears and fears and feeling proud
To say, "I love you, " right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
I've looked at life that way
Oh, but now old friends, they're acting strange
And they shake their heads and they tell me that I've changed
Well, something's lost, but something's gained
In living every day
I've looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all
It's life's illusions that I recall
I really don't know life
I really don't know life at all

Mary Fahl is one of my favourites. She has a melancholy voice which is unique and authoritative. Her words are sad but they inspire hope.
Mary Fahl has one of the lovliest voices I've heard, and she can truly interpret a song. Fabulous; equal to Judy Collins.
Yes, indeed!
No, she is not equal to Judy Collins, her voice is even better 😊
