I would love to hear this even further down through the years (80s-00s). Recently picked up a 1996 American Anniversary year P-bass that I would love to compare to a 70s or 80s Pbass. I have only had the chance to compare it to a 2016 American Standard and a 2022 American Pro II.
@@shaunhughes2 if you want to hear the tone...Kathy Valantine recorded and played a black 74 mapleneck pbass through and svt for all the go go's stuff. Sounds incredible.
I have a question. I love p bass. But I don't understand why they all have a crack /stress crack between the neck heel and the body. Is this the case on vintage p bass? Thank you !
Lovely collection of basses, without getting into the tonewood thing, do you think there is any difference in sound between a maple fretboard and a dark wood/rosewood fretboard
REALLY GOOD VIDEO, BUT I AM NOT TRULY SATISFIED...I THINK YOU SHOULD MAKE A MUCH LONGER VIDEO, USING THE SAME BRAND & MODEL OF STRINGS, WITH THE TONE KNOB ON / OFF CHOICE COMPARISON....KEEP UP WITH GOOD WORK...
Pointless video, very well done but all the basses should have the same strings. At the end of the day a P bass sounds like a P bass, just a meat and instrument that bores me to tears lol. I've bought and sold dozens of them over the years trying to get the hype but just can't. Apart from the Stingray I've found that single pickup basses just don't offer any excitement. Can't say I didn't try though. Full marks for a good video though.

I liked the P-Bass the best
Me too..the old one
Which one was the P bass?
Hahaahha
65 with flats - that's the sound
That's what I have....and the flats are about 20 years old. Superb thump!!
Leo Fender make things right at start
Nice video. But you can´t really compare these basses when they all have different strings.
Thursday will be released the video with the same strings
1972 just killed such a vibe😮
the 77 with the Maple neck nice and punchy
The last one, the best!
Nice !!! But could you do it again with one new set ("the same") of fresh strings on all basses ... ???

The one with the beefiest neck is the winner for me. I have sold two 1975 P basses that had thinner necks. I use my 68 and 73 telecaster basses daily.
Great video, new subscriber here. Nice playing & feel.
Thank you

Whatever Fender was doing with their basses in the mid 90's was insane. I have a 97 P and a 95 J that sound and play amazing. Vintage vibes.

Many thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The very first Bass had the best look and sound.
1965…
Big noticeable difference with maple neck/ fretboard.
I have a question. I love p bass. But I don't understand why they all have a crack /stress crack between the neck heel and the body. Is this the case on vintage p bass? Thank you !
I like red bass.sounds very good!!
1969 vintage CAR
'73 for me
Big difference between maple and rosewood fingerboards.
All the maple boards sounded snappy
For some reason the 77 maple neck speaks to me. Absolutely nothing wrong with any of those basses, but there's something about that 77 maple .
That bass is really wonderful
That white '72 is 🔥
I liked the old one the best...the four string
0:49 1972 sounds like it has a phaser on it
1:23 1973 as well
65, 72, and 74 for me.
All sounded similar. In a live setting with guitars and drums it wouldn’t matter which one was being played!
Absolutely! The p has a rightness that's hard to mess up
Spoiler Alert: All entries were done with a Squier Bronco Bass…EQ’d slightly different. 😉
I really am shocked how much it stayed the same.
Unless you were slapping idk why you would want nickel or roundwound. Flat got the thump
P basses are the best sounding basses and they all, for the most part, sound exactly the same. Nothing sounds as good as a P bass through an SVT.
77 sounded the best to me...
Which one feels the best in your hands?
69 car 😊
1965 and 2014 I liked the best 🤟🤙👍
the 1965 sounds so nicely "rich".
guess I've been watching too many vids with P-basses, so UA-cam suggested me this
Same here. Bring it on!
maple fingerboard helps Precision to sound better, just oppossite situation is with Jazz Bass, Rosewood fingerboard sounds better
podrías hacer algo así pero comparando cuerdas :D
Saludos
El jueves se estrenará el video con las mismas cuerdas.
You should using same strings to compare the basses

Most of the basses were bitten by Dracula I see the puncture marks. 😋
Fantastico!! ❤🎉
1972 sunburst
+1
The family of La Bella tape wounds is missing. Very big miss.
Old strings FTW!
1960 p bass, Mexican 2020 P bass. Only difference is thousands of dollars in price
P bass, always with flats.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The 1965 one has the better sound.
The '69 Precision ❤
♥️🔥
1969 ❤

73 maple neck for me
I liked 72 :)

Try this 😉
My Favorite was the Red Low Rider, it has a balance punch and clarity.
74 for me
love the '77
Pbass the best
I have a 72 and it just destroys.

i really hate that ernie ball slinky on bass
cute that you have so many basses, please learn to play normal groove
