- I'm back with another crochet diy for my beginners! The crop top is made up of half-double crochets and features a simple ribbing effect with a lace up back. Even though it's starting to get a bit colder I'm still wearing crop tops lol

how dare you make this ADORABLE crop top and look SOO good in it, while i'm working on a tie strap top because now I just want to abandon my project and work on this instead. How dare you.
Wowww you’re so sweet thank you 😭 id love to see your finished tops!
I'm in the exact same situation haha I'm like 2/3 of the way through a top and now I want to undo it all to use the yarn on this top
I love the yarn colours. Also thank you for including the company and the weight of it. I wish more people did that
I crocheted this in a day and I love it! It’s such a good fit ✨
this is such a good tutorial! I always get confused with the half double stuff and you also explained that „chain two“ turn really well. Thank you so much
here’s a written pattern that I’m using for myself in case anyone wants to use one!
Row 1:
Ch42, skip first 2 chains, hdc until the end, ch2
Row 2-11: alternate between both
(go through the front loops only: add 2hdc in the first stich, hdc in each stich, add 2hdc in the last stich, ch2)
(go through both loops: hdc in each stich, ch2)
Row 12- 20: alternate between front loops only and both loops
inc, hdc in each stich, inc, ch2
Row 21-24: alternate between front loops only and both loops
add 2hdc in the first 2 stiches , hdc in each stich, add 2hdc in the last 2 stiches, ch2
--------
slpst up both sides of the shirt, attach a chain on each side
This is more confusing than the video 😂
Thank you for thisssss
This was so much easier than the video
THANK YOU SM
thank cause i was trying to write my own and i was like 😟❓ the whole time
been meaning to start this for a while and finally got round to it! it’s a lovely project and i can’t wait to wear it! xx
How much yarn did u use
Thank you so much, glad you love it 🤍🤍
absolutely love this top!! making for the second time, really appreciated your tutorial
THANK YOU this is so cute I finished it in one night and omg I wish I didn't have school and work today or else i'd crochet more ALLLL NIGHTTTT
Ahhhh yes!! I would love to see your top all finished up 🤍🤍
Thank you, I just finished this top in one night and it looks so cute! Can't wait for my next project!
a quick crocheter, I love it!! 🤍
Just made this in a light weight yarn and I am in love with it 😍 thank you for this tutorial !
So glad it could help you!! Thank you for supporting 🤍
Hi, what hook measurement did you use? And did you do the same amount of increases as in the video?
I did the top and omg I love it !!!! my new favourite top
Wow yes I love hearing that!! 🤍
just finished mine and it looks sooooooooo so good thank you for this tutorial!!!
Thank you for supporting!! 🤍🤍
love this so much!!
Thank you! 🤍
Love it ! I actually have this same exact yarn 😆 I can’t wait to make my top
How many grams yarn is it?
Oh yes that’s awesome!! I’d love to see it if you have insta you can DM me @erin_reiko 🤍
Hi guys, my sis was trying to follow this tutorial but got quite confused too. Let me just clarify it in a simpler version after watching the video.
Every row from 2nd onwards, you alternate between front loop and both loops. For example:
2nd row - front loop
3rd row - both loops
4th row - front loop
5th row - both loops
Alternate it until the end, for the entire shirt.
As for the stitch pattern:
Row 2-11:
- When you do front loop row, hdc inc on 1st stitch, hdc all the way, hdc inc on last stitch (total 2 inc)
- When you do both loops row, normal hdc all the way (no inc)
Row 12-20: every row, hdc inc for 1st stitch, hdc all the way, hdc inc for last stitch (total 2 inc)
Row 21-24: every row, hdc inc for 1st stitch, hdc inc for 2nd stitch, hdc all the way, hdc inc for 2nd last stitch, hdc inc for last stitch (total 4 inc)
Hope this helps. Amazing design from Erin B! Thanks!
Perfect! So much clearer! Thank you 🙏
Thanks so muchh I was confused alsoo
That's perfect, it's coming along so goooodd THANK YOUUUUU!!! 🩷🩷
I just finished my top! this was my first successful piece of clothing and this pattern was so amazing!
yay i love hearing such good outcomes, thank you!! 🤍🤍
Made this out of cotton yarn for my first project and I love how it turned out!!
I’d love to see your work!! 💓💓
did you start with the same numbers of stitches (42)? because I'm using cotton yarn as well and I'm so afraid it's gonna turn out too narrow
I am a beginner at crocheting and this is my first clothing piece I have made. After watching this video I watched all your other ones!!! Very helpful thank you
You are so welcome! thank you for watching 🤍🤍
aaaaa i really wished you included a short video tutorial on the straps and lacing! but im halfway done with the top and i cant wait to see how it turns out!
I’m sorry I didn’t, I’m keeping that in mind for my next tutorials, I’ll remember to show how I finished straps for you!
But for this top I attached the yarn at both corners of the bust and made a very long chain. From there I just weaves the chain at random spots on the back side of the top and crisscrossed them down. The yarn is only attached to the piece by the bust corners!
@@itserinb what do you mean you attached the yarn?
@@oliviareams2048 as in you join the yarn to a stitch
Great tutorial, though you could'vvveeeee add the part where you put the lacing and the straps.... :( would've been super helpful!
I know!! So many people have asked about the straps so I’ve been including them in all my videos from that point on! 🤍
@@itserinb where can I learn how to add the straps to this top??

This is my first crotchet project and it’s going pretty well, however I don’t know how to finish the slip stitch once you get to the top. That’s literally the only roadblock. Sorry, I’m new here 😩
I just finished this top and I want to say thank you so much, I finished it in a sage green just as my new pants came and I feel HOT THANK YOU
Yay!! So glad you like it 🥰
Love it 😍
Do you have a written version of your knit/crochet patterns ? I love your diy outfits. Prepping for sweater weather here and summer crop tops
Thank you! I've never crocheted before and my piece turned out really nice! I'm shocked
Yes I’m so glad to hear that!! Thank you for watching 💓
I love your style and tutorials! Can you please make a granny square cardigan? 😭😭🥰
Yes ma’am that’s on my to-do list soon!! 🥰
just started working on it. I hope it will be as great as yours! 😝
Yes good luck!! If you want you can DM me a photo of your finished work! I’d love to see it @erin_reiko 🤍
Eyo update, how did it go?
@@maritkaalstad1855 it turned out great! there is a pic on my instagram highlights, its @mariatcgontijo
Beautiful top 🔝 lovely colours too 🌹
Thank you!! Yes it was my fav color way as well 🤍
So cute
Very cute!
Thank you love 🤍
I just finished it and it looks amazing!!!! Thank you for the great tutorial :) I have one question tho, what sort of bra can you wear under this?
Heya for later videos you could add measurements of the top so that the people making it could adapt the measurements and the size so it fits them. Would help thank you!
Hey! most definitely I'll try to add any measurements that I can!
i would love this tutorial if there was an explanation for what the number of chains/rows means! i had to watch through the entire thing before beginning (i normally like to follow along) because i didn’t know what the initial chain 40 was supposed to cover and therefore didn’t know if it would fit my body properly. even now, i only mostly have a clue
Hi!! I thought I explained in the video that the initial chain is the top of the crop-top, sorry if I didn’t say! I just chained long enough to cover the top of my chest (you can use one of your own tank tops to get the same measurement!)
How did you attach the two parts of the top at the back? I made it but I can't figure out how to finish it and make it a top
I think you just attach 2 long strings to the top corners and then criss cross them along the sides towards the bottom and then tie
Hello hello ! Thank you so much for this have taken a look through and it seems clear and doable to me 🤩 just wanted to ask 2 things before I start - what kind of size does this make? And also how long did you make for the straps/string to tye for the back? Thanks in advance ! 🤩
What size would this be for? How much would I chain for a medium or large??
Hi, I loved the tutorial, I'm going to do it, but I would like to know what yarn are you using, wool or cotton? 💘🫶🏻🥰
this is so cute!! what was the recommended hook size for the yarn you used and how much yarn did you end up using?
Hey girl!! The recommended hook size is 6.5mm but I believe I used a 5.0mm hook, and I used only one skein ✨
Hi Erin! How many increases per row should I do with a 3.5mm hook and a lighter yarn?
do you tie the yarn at the top of one side of slip stitches and then go to the other side or do you continue across the top and go back down??
Do you maybe have the measurements in inches for each part? So for the first part where you have to double crochet in every other row, etc? I am working with a thinner yarn.
This looks awesome to do but how do you get the correct measures and apply them to this tutorial?
When you get to the part where you add increases on every single row do you only crochet into the top stitches or do you still alternate going into the top stitch one row, then into the full stitch the next row?
Hi!! I alternate top loops with full stitch for the entire top! It’s what creates the ribbed pattern ☺️
Did you put a two half double crochet on the last stitch in the 3rd row?
i'm making this top rn i just made some few changes cuz i'm a bigger size but i love it already can you please show me how you did the sraps and the back cuz i'm a lil confused about it and thanks for the pattren btw
Question I am definitely a bigger size was the 40 chains in the beginning for the chest or the bottom of the shirt cuz this looks shmol
I'm making this as a gift for a friend and she about your size...i was just wondering if you remember how long each string was for the back ties.
Love the pattern! I tried it out and my top came out super cute! I’m trying to make another top, and for some reason one side constantly looks more angled than the other. I don’t know if I’m missing a step or messing up somewhere but the first one came out great so idk why it keeps looking uneven now.
Hi love! A possible reason why is that you might be forgetting to decrease at the end of the row (as well as at the beginning). Best of luck 🤍
im having the same issue
Are you adding the increases In the front loop as well?
Is this just for one size? Thanks! :)
For every other increase row are you still going into a hard to see stitch? Or is it just right at the beginning it’s hard to see?
And when you complete the 11 rows and move on to do more increases, are you doing 2 on each end for every row? Thanks in advance :)
hi!! I think it gets easier to see the stitches the more you work the pattern!!
and yes, after the 11 rows I do 2 HDC increase on both ends for every row! thank you for watching 🤍🤍
Hi,Can I use other type of yarn .... what reccomendations
Question, what is the reason for using the front loop of the stitch? Is it a design choice or is it necessary for the shirt? Could you actually go through both loops and get a similar effect?
Hi there!! I use the front loop in order to create a ribbed pattern. You can make the top by going through both loops like normal, but it will be a flat piece, it won’t have any ribbing texture to it! Hope this helped 💓
Do you have a tutorial on how you did the back? I'm a little unclear on how you did it
Hi, are you referring to the lacing? If so, I attached my yarn to the corners of the front, and made an excessively long chain. From there I just picked a few different points along the edge of the top and strung the chain in a criss cross fashion until I reached the bottom corners!
Is this for a size small? Should I just size up a couple chains for a size medium?
Hi, I'm a bit confused, what does adding increases mean (for row 2-11)?
How many rows before you increase in the first two stitches?
, so if working with thinner yarn would I need more than 11 rows??
do you think this would work w/ Noro tabi yarn?
Still a little confused how to add the string to lace up the back. Could you explain more or post another video?
Hola, mi lana es número 2. Cuantas cadenas debo hacer? Gracias
Hi. Awesome tutorial and top. I have one question. For the increase rows, after the first two increased in the front stitch do you continue with HDCs in the front stitch only down the middle? Hope my question makes sense. Thank you
hi there!! I'm not quite sure what you mean by "down the middle" but I continued with the front stitch for the entire project (I believe its every other row) !
@@itserinb I meant in the row where you applied the increase in the front stitch for the first two stitches and last two stitches do you continue in the front stitch until the last two increases or do you make stitches in both loops not just the front? I make the top going into both loops in between the beginning and end increase and it came out wonderful . Thank You 🙏🏽
Heya, looks sooo good! but wondering how you did the lacing?
Personally I braided three pieces of yarn together, used a 9mm hook to slip stitch it into the top, then laced it down.
I just used two loose strands of yarn and weaves them back and fourth down the backside of the top!
Should you use cotton or acrylic yarn? I am confused
I made it it looks amazing but it keeps slipping down at the front 🫠🫠 any fixes?
My body looks pretty similar to yours, so I thought I didn't need to make any adjustments. My top came out wayyy too small and looks like it would only fit a child. Brb unravelling and starting over :,)
Oh no!! It might be a difference in yarn thickness! I’ve learned recently that a bunch of brands label yarns differently but they’re not all the same thickness. The yarn I used id consider an Aran weight! 💓💓
What size is this pattern for?
algum brasileiro poderia me informar qual linha é equivalente a essa que ela usa no vídeo aqui no Brasil? 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
where did u get that yarn
i just finished making this, it's so pretty! i wear XS and my boobies are average size and i used the exact same measurements as shown in the video and it fits me well!
so cool but how many gramms or meters of the ball
Hello! How can I make this as a Medium size?
hi, does someone from the PH know where I could by this exact color of yarn? Or anything alike to it? I have heen wanting to make this for over a month now but can't find colors worthy
What size would you say this pattern is?
Is it cotton yarn? Or 100% acrylic yarn?
Can the top still be made without going through the front loop?
Hi there!! Yes it can still be made without the front loops, you can just go through both of the top two loops (it just won’t have a ribbed effect to it!)
i don't understand how to do the lacing part for the back!! help!!!!
Guys, what are the measures of these projects?
Hi Erin! I was wondering if I could follow this pattern with a 4.0mm hook. How is it going to be different and what adjustments can I make?
Hi there! Yes you could definitely make this with a smaller hook, the adjustments would pretty much be in the beginning - for example : if my starting chain used 40 chains/stitches across, the smaller hook will require more like 50 chains/stitches. Just create your new chain and fit it to your body (I really just hold my chain/work up to my body and see if it's roughly the right size for me). From there your increases on the start and ends of your rows will be the exact same!
@@itserinb Thank you so much! Can't wait to try it out :)
Can you make the pattern for this top if done w fabric?
Heck yea!! Would be rather simple too! I'll try to get to it in a month or two, lots of projects lined up ☺️
what size yarn??
did she make a long chain for the strap or just the yarn?
Yes I chained!
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
How many rows is this
I swear I somehow am off in my stitch count no matter how careful I am I frogged like 6 times at the start 😅 so when I stitch into the V stitch (not the front stitch) I have to stitch into the chain on the other side to complete the row with the right amount of stitches it’s driving me crazy
One side seems to be more diagonal than the other...is that how its supposed to be or am I doing it wrong. I feel like at the end of the rows where you go on in the front loop, I go into the wrong loop. Is it the same as the first time?
i have the same question!! :((
@@eysz4531 Okay so i figured it out.
On the rows where you do the front loop hdc, your going to want to skip the first stitch and put the hdc in the second stitch. And then just do the regular hdc rows in the first stitch. Mine came out even that way.
@@shaniadearmas9768 thank you! ill try this out. :)))
@@eysz4531 okayyyy i hope it works 😁
How many yards is 2 skeins?
I believe on Lion Brands website one skein is under 200 yds, and I luckily didn’t have to use a 2nd skein. So I made the entire top with under 200yds (1 skein)!
Heeey thank you for this beautiful tutorial! What was the length of the skein you used?
Hi there!! It was 146 yards😄
Thank you 😊
hey do you know what these tops are called?
I don’t know if they have an official name but I call it a crop top or strappy crop top, or even backless lace up top!
Cómo hace las tiras?
how can I change colors on the last row?
When you start your last row tie on a new color and chain up with the new color, finish the last row with that yarn!
hey! just wondered, how did you make the straps/lace up back? xx
Hi! I just attached yarn at both corners and crocheted a chain long enough to criss cross the back and pulled the loop through!
Hi I am also wondering about the straps. I am finished with body of the project but I don’t quite understand the explanation of the straps here.
super cute top! I tried making it to fit my size and it didn’t turn out how i thought it would, but it’s okay we improvise over here :))
Aww thank you!! Yes crochet is all about improvising, you got this! 🤍
Heyy, I want to ask you a question. When you write “repeat the pattern for 11 rows” it’s should be a total of 11 rows including the rows that you already crocheted or 11 more rows? Thank you! Can’t wait to make this top!😍
I did 11 more rows but idk
I did 11 row in total
I’m also confused about this and would love clarification :):) thank you !!
this is a great top! however, how can i adjust the size?
Hi!! To adjust the top make a chain the length of your chest (I held the chain up to my chest and found the correct width that I wanted the top to start at I think 10 inches?) then you add increases on the corners of every other row until the top is wide enough to fit around your body. I’m very short so my top isn’t very long but if you’re tall or have a long torso you will need to keep adding rows in the same fashion 🤍
@@itserinb THANK U
Está medio incompleto el tutorial, me gustaría ver cómo lo terminás, básicamente.
;; what size is this tho?
Hi! How much meters of yarn have you used? Both of them, as shown in the video?
Hi there I’m not sure of the length exactly but if you check their website I’m sure they have the details listed!
@@itserinb I mean, you used both of yarn? Absolutely everything? Or maybe 1,5 of the yarn😀? I hope you got me right😂sorry English is not my first language(((
I only used one skein !!
what size is this
I would consider this a small, 32B chest / 25 in waist !!
Is side boob a normal part of this top or did i do it wrong? 😅
LOL if you’re having side boob then your starting chain might be too short, or you’ll need to increase more!
