We're headed to a clash of cultures in Western Loudoun county. Fairfax/Arlington crowd is relocating to beautiful western Loudoun in large numbers, filling every farm field with McMansions and expecting an HOA experience even if they buy property without an HOA. They are the folks who buy a house under covenants in a quiet rural subdivision with a horse farm and 5 acre lots and expect their neighbors to cut down their fields on the periphery of their lots because the covenants say to mow all lawns (happening to me right now - we expect them to drop the case as the covenants do not require us to clear land). These are the same people who are rude and expect you to put up with their crap but don't want to smell manure from farm fields or hear tractors working in the fields. Move west. More west. More more west.....And go large. Five acres is not five miles. Three acres is like living in a town house with suburbanites once they get all their yard toys, barkomatics, and brightly cool blue LED spotlights installed. The dark valley under the starry nights used to be so beautiful now it looks like cruise ships on a crowded sea. You will no longer see the Milky Way from rural Western Loudoun as the lights from data centers, Dulles, Sterling, Cashburn and the McMansion farms drown it all out. Oh - and one more point: moving here to manage your own utilities in a field with an unknown aquafer serving a five fold increase in demand for well water, when affordable propane's future is in jeopardy, and your septic will have to managed by you makes no sense if you want suburbia and will gripe about gravel roads (that's right your Lexus will be dirty 339 days out of the year). Just buy closer in and make everyone happy (except the realtors of course).
