For anyone looking for the remedy. Turn the key on (not started) shift the column down to drive, then back to park. It should start right up. I believe the issue is with the gear selector not knowing it’s position. I just replaced the starter 5 months ago.
What is up with every video the guy just babble on. Blah blah just say you bought a new starter. Turn a ten minute waste of time into a ten second waste of time
Thanks for this. It really helped my diag. I was on vacation and it croaked just like yours. Bought tools and parts. Couple hours later new starter installed and vacation saved

Having the same problem did you find out.
My 2007 honda has done the same thing twice. But started after a few hours. Brand new battery. Mechanic finds no issue so far.
