Jones still hasn't earned the heavyweight title, in my opinion. Gane and Miocic were both coming off massive losses to Ngannou, and Miocic definitely wasn't a top contender. But besides size, no one is naming what combination of features Aspinall has that is more threatening than any other feature Jones has dealt with in the past.
Aspinall has never been past the second round. That is how Jones would beat him. Adversity and gas tank. No one seems to bring that up. The fact that his cardio is intested. How fast and explosive is he in round three? What about the end of round two. What about after grueling wrestling exchanges. People are caught up in the hype for Aspinall. I get it. He's figuring out his range so he's bound to get hit a bit before he figures it out. And not like Jon has the power to even knock him down forget out. His greatest obstacle will be Jon's distance management but his chin is not gonna be a factor in this fight
It’s recency bias, he does not have a HW win that is more impressive than Ciryl Gane under his belt. Remember Gane has only lost to Ngannou in a super close fight. I would understand if Aspinall actually had a win over someone proven to be impressive but that just doesn’t exist. It’s the classic KO streak hype. Lol
Delusional. That 78 inch reach is exactly where Jones starts running into problems against guys with skill. Tom is the strongest and one of the most skilled boxers he's faced aside from Gus, who beat up Jones with the exact same frame as Aspinall but Aspinall is at least 20lbs bigger, hits way harder & is a much more powerful grappler than Gus
I think Tom can win as well. But credit to Jon he did beat Gane, Stipe and I know he wasn't HW at the time (D. Cormier) who is a true heavyweight. So his resume with those three guys alone are better than Tom's competition. But Tom is bigger, faster, stronger and younger. So it's like Mr. T in Rocky 3 (first fight), he's very hungry and Jones is getting older and not hungry like a challenger. The only thing I will agree with about Jon is if you want that fight, give him the money, if Dana can roll out the red carpet for Conor, do the same for the person who he says is the GOAT. Offer no less than 20 million.
4:47 I don't understand this take, Stipe came in 10 lbs lighter for the rematch and was older having only fought DC for a couple years. It wasn't his prime then, but Ngannou beating that version just puts him past Cain, Prime Stipe and Fedor. Now Tom is better than all those names on paper but not practice? Shows two things, heavyweight is a weak division, and people are quick to throw around Greatest of All time on people.
How can you say this is very unlike Jon Jones? This is the story of his career. He spent his career beating up smaller guys while avoiding fighting men his own size. Even DC he made come down to 205. He waited 3 years for Francis to leave the UFC to move up to HW one week after that was announced.
There's only 3 things that makes sense for Jones...1. Aspinall 2. Pereira 3. Retirement. Everything else seems like a pointless anti-climax. I think Firas is right about UFC not giving Pereira to Jones. How does that make sense? Jones fights Pereira, beats him, then retires. Leaving UFC's current superstar with 'L' on his record. UFC will have to shove $$$ at Jones and call his bluff re Aspinall.
I can’t believe how off people are about what Jon is doing. He’s made it clear he wants to be paid as if this is the fight fans are clamoring for. If he doesn’t get what he feels he’s worth, he’ll walk away-and honestly, it’s not that complicated. Remember, Jon cares more about how much he’s paid than who his opponent is. Sure, Tom gets on his nerves a little, but Jon would fight him if Dana was willing to fork over a little more cash. Think about it: it’s like any job. If you feel underpaid, why would you take on more work for the same compensation? Jon isn’t your typical fighter, and I agree he deserves the pay bump. If Tom ever finds himself in a similar situation, I hope fans show the same energy they have for Jon now when it’s Tom’s turn in the spotlight-but let’s be honest, that probably won’t happen. All I’m saying is, take a step back and look at the whole picture instead of through this narrow narrative of him ducking. It only shows how emotional and reactionary people are being.
Stipe announces his retirement post fight in the octagon...he's been retired for 3 years...this was his last pay cheque. Jones could've finished Stipe in round 1. Jones labouring his effort to make it look like he fought a worthy opponent…much like Mayweather v McGreggor. Best case scenario for UFC is to have the "unbeatable GOAT" Jones fight Aspinall, Aspinall beats Jones and retires him, Aspinal is the new undisputed HeavyWeight Champ, no questions asks. Jon fought everybody he knew he could be beat. The two people he had doubts about beating, he's avoided, so far.
It’s hard to bet against Jones, not because he fights the very best, but because he picks opponents significantly older and less skilled than him. He has always ducked big challenges.
Aspinall is the only guy who has a chance at beating Jones, even though I Think Jones still beat him using his fight IQ and takes the fight where he wants...
He can't when any of those places unless he gets lucky and catches him in a submission ... he can't hold him down for 5 rounds and he ain't beating him on the feet?
Fight IQ is cool But Strength, Size & Speed are techniques also… combine that with being trained for combat since the age of 5 & you have a Jon Jones knockout loss in under 90 seconds
Jones is such a dog, Tremendous chin and he would be desperate for that take down. Tom has the speed and power to smash him, I honestly think it would be wild. Big time fight nerves for that one, incredible match up. My ultimate guess is Tom wins after facing some adversity.
First of all nobody beats him on the ground. Just In theory: To beat Jon Jones you have to knock him out. Otherwise it will lead to controversial decisions as we saw with Reyes and Gus the first fight. And to do that you have to neutralize his takedown attempts completely or at least have good enough takedown defense to keep the fight on the feet. One way to do that is by chopping his leggs instead of head hunting him. But at the same time you have to eat some legg kicks yourself. Gane and Pereria have spent most their Martial Arts career as Kickboxers and Muay Thai fighters. They are used to eat legg kicks at the highest level and would win a legg kick war with Jones. Hence why he went straight for takedowns when he fought Gane
Why did Michael Chandler get away with those punches to the back of the head? I don't really understand the logic. They just didn't want to break up the flow?
Aspinall must waste his cardio jumping and blitzing like that at that weight, imo he not only gas out but lose rythm, composure, precision, reflexes, everything coming in the 3rd, that's the counterpart for that style unseen before, for a reason
Coach do you think Jon stipe was more competitive than what gsp khabib would have been? Its my contention that as khabib was more recently active and Georges was past his prime despite actively training, Khabib would have won it as handily as Jon did. If it was at 160 or 165
Ngannou the greatest heavyweight of all time after beating Stipe who was already 40 years old? Cmon now. Ngannou doesn't even have a decent UFC career, he is not even in top20 best heavyweight of all time.
Aspinall has beaten no one of consequence. If Jones beat any of the tomato cans that Tom beat, you'd be laughing...why is he fighting these nobodies? Tom crushes nobodies and you cream your pants
Stipe couldn’t beat anyone in the top 15 at heavyweight, and Jon didn’t look that great against him. Aspinal would have finished him in less than a minute
Guys like Aspinall Ngannou dudes that that walk around 280-300 pounds on the regular would beat Jones. These guys are coming. Jon's the Goat but yeah that what I think
Sorry not Sorry but Tom Aspinall is gonna take the center of the octagon instantly & he will knockout Jon Jones in under 90 seconds… after Jones panic shoots > Tom easily shrugs him off > 1-2 Blitz > Jones tries to evade & runs away but Tom clips him finishes him with Ground n Pound
I think both Jon and Francis would beat Aspinall tbh… This is a guy that has not been tested at all. Between Jon ducking and Aspinall being a big finisher, I’d say there’s a bit of fugazi going on here… 🤷♂️
Jones has been out for too long and is getting too old cherry picking fights and contract stipulations. If he is not going to accept whoever the UFC puts in front of him he should be stripped of his title and retired.

It wasn't his prime then, but Ngannou beating that version just puts him past Cain, Prime Stipe and Fedor. Now Tom is better than all those names on paper but not practice? Shows two things, heavyweight is a weak division, and people are quick to throw around Greatest of All time on people.
Tom Aspinall would absolutely destroy Jon Jones.
Is that brains I hear ?
Very rare these days 😂
Gaslighting people on Jones is funny. He'd lose to Ngannou in round 2.
ASPINAL WOULD KO JONES IN FIRST ROUND
How can you say this is very unlike Jon Jones? This is the story of his career. He spent his career beating up smaller guys while avoiding fighting men his own size. Even DC he made come down to 205. He waited 3 years for Francis to leave the UFC to move up to HW one week after that was announced.
well if it worked for him why should he try to fix it.
Jon Jones will whoop Tom ass'n'all
There's only 3 things that makes sense for Jones...1. Aspinall 2. Pereira 3.
It only shows how emotional and reactionary people are being.
tom might double stipe’s title defense record
To be the greatest, you need a really good track record. Tom Aspinall beats Curtis blades, that doesn’t proves too much
I was wondering if tristar still had dorms. Nice to see
Aspinall is the only guy who has a chance at beating Jones, even though I Think Jones still beat him using his fight IQ and takes the fight where he wants...
He can't when any of those places unless he gets lucky and catches him in a submission ... he can't hold him down for 5 rounds and he ain't beating him on the feet?
Fight IQ is cool
But Strength, Size & Speed are techniques also… combine that with being trained for combat since the age of 5
& you have a Jon Jones knockout loss in under 90 seconds
I think Jon could beat aspinal, it's a very intriguing fight.
A prime Fedor is the best HWT ive ever seen.
Tom aspinall size and speed and that ko power and is high level ground game is nightmare for jones 100%finish rate 100% take down defence all in hw
Jones needs to watch Rousey's fight against Holly Holm and ask himself.....do I want that to happen to me?
Why ya' think he's runnin'?
Jones is such a dog, Tremendous chin and he would be desperate for that take down. Tom has the speed and power to smash him, I honestly think it would be wild. Big time fight nerves for that one, incredible match up. My ultimate guess is Tom wins after facing some adversity.
First of all nobody beats him on the ground.
Just In theory:
To beat Jon Jones you have to knock him out.
Jon jones isnt scared of aspinall but he is concerned of him.
I get impression if Jones continues fighting he will go back down to light heavyweight and fight Pereira.
GSP is the GOAT. Look at his run. Fought killers in their prime. Not washed bums. No Roids. No wife beating. No coke. No eye pokes.
Facts
80% of ur viewers are casuals 😂😂
Coach do you think Jon stipe was more competitive than what gsp khabib would have been?
Its my contention that as khabib was more recently active and Georges was past his prime despite actively training, Khabib would have won it as handily as Jon did. If it was at 160 or 165
Ngannou the greatest heavyweight of all time after beating Stipe who was already 40 years old? Cmon now. Ngannou doesn't even have a decent UFC career, he is not even in top20 best heavyweight of all time.
Jones said he will do it , just wants to be paid. Good on him. Tom's over rated too
Kind of like when GSP fought Serra …
Aspinall has beaten no one of consequence. If Jones beat any of the tomato cans that Tom beat, you'd be laughing...why is he fighting these nobodies? Tom crushes nobodies and you cream your pants
if JJ stands With Alex like he did Stipe, he getting knocked out. Even old man stipe could stuff JJ take downs after the first round.
You need to start a Skool community bro.
I like to see tom go 5 rounds but thats unlikely
Maneater💅 and duck can both be applied to jones, though
Why does everyone have such selective memory. Tell me how Jones could have ducked ANYONE while being the champ and HAVING to fight the top contenders?
The other side is the spleen btw
its almost like they should unify the HW championship who would have thought
😂😂😂 If Aspinall is so great, why did some random guy make him tap out before he got to UFC? Dude is Rhonda Rousey with a mustache
Fedor greatest heavyweight of all time
Everyone can beat jones till they see him from an octagon perspective
Stipe couldn’t beat anyone in the top 15 at heavyweight, and Jon didn’t look that great against him. Aspinal would have finished him in less than a minute
Worst take lol stipe beats the entire top 15 even at 42 and Jon Jones look incredible. Aspinal gets ankle picked and heel hooked in 1 round.
@@johnmichaelperla3583Guess we will never know😂
@@johnmichaelperla3583 and your take is even worse, GSP's couch said that Jones is not defeating Tom, but i guess your credibility is higher...
Guys like Aspinall Ngannou dudes that that walk around 280-300 pounds on the regular would beat Jones. These guys are coming. Jon's the Goat but yeah that what I think
So Stipe can beat Francis but Jones with much better wrestling can't win?@@thegoatmariop837
Disagree. Stipe is dangerous, and Jones has been out for a long time as well and is still quite new in heawyweight divisjon. It was a good fight.
Sorry not Sorry but
Tom Aspinall is gonna take the center of the octagon instantly & he will knockout Jon Jones in under 90 seconds…
after Jones panic shoots > Tom easily shrugs him off > 1-2 Blitz > Jones tries to evade & runs away but Tom clips him finishes him with Ground n Pound
It’s a massive problem when the bigger guy is faster than you…
It just is…
Cherry picking Jones. He will clear his name if he fights Aspinal but he probably won't because he has met his match.
Francis can 1 hit KO anyone at any moment during a fight
Aspinal vs Ngannou for the 🐐
Jon had over 13yrs of title fights. Your boy Tom had none while fighting nobody's.
casual
Then Tom should be another easy W then. Why doesnt Jon take the fight?
All that ring experience will avail him nothing ...
Jon Jones can’t fight moving backwards so I’ll just pressure him for 5 rounds 🤯
Aspinall beats the breaks off of Jones and I’ve never took Jones opponent to win
I think both Jon and Francis would beat Aspinall tbh… This is a guy that has not been tested at all.
Between Jon ducking and Aspinall being a big finisher, I’d say there’s a bit of fugazi going on here… 🤷♂️
I wouldn't care about seeing him vs periera, it would be to one sided.
20 sec longer IT would be over First round. John will Finish aspinal in the third
Jones has been out for too long and is getting too old cherry picking fights and contract stipulations. If he is not going to accept whoever the UFC puts in front of him he should be stripped of his title and retired.
You also said Ciryl Gane will beat Jon Jones years ago but he did like it was nothing> do not bet against Jon Jones even if you are a coach or any thing you are calling yourselve>
Jones will beat the brakes off Aspinall
I think jones beats Aspinall… your giving Tom to much credit.. he hasn’t fought high IQ fighters.. he’s only fought power guys that want to KO you.
Jon can beat him the disrespect is crazy
