Singing with passion....where has it gone. This is a classic case of doing justice to the powerful vocals of Robert. Congrats to Four Non blondes for capturing the essence of grit
@Willie Gordon No but when 4NB toured with Aerosmith Steven Tyler would come out every night and bow down to her - -its called a statutory license - -the composer gets paid every time we buy or I guess stream this - you, too can make your own version...Linda Perry has also mentored and co-wrote and produced numerous other artists, especially females. Also, in the 1990s in SF, there were legions of female led and female co-led bands
A friend of mine , who's a musician, said if you're going to cover a song it should be as good if not better than the original. I think these guys nailed it.
This is the only good, not good but GREAT song cover on the Iconium LZ tribute album. It's a toss up between this and the original. This Vid Rocks and is one of my favs. Thank You 4NBs
I used to be in a band in San Francisco that practiced across the hall directly across from them and I used to hear them playing Led Zeppelin tunes all the time and let me tell you that girl, phew!!!
"Misty Mountain Hop" is my favorite Zeppelin song after "Ramble On". I LOVE THIS COVER! To be honest, it's more than a cover, they pulled out all the stops and put the pedal to the metal! And what was the best part? The last part, where they stretched out the last verse; "I really don't know" pounding it over and over. It's something that Zeppelin didn't do on too many songs, and that includes "Ramble On", right when the emotional impact is hitting you. Linda pushed that hurdle out of the f'cking way!
My uncle worked with John Paul Jones on some music he was producing in Nashville. He said JPJ could play ANY instrument you presented to him (even a fiddle), and was the nicest guy you would ever meet. I met him a few times and was eating lunch with him when someone asked him about a cover of "Stairway" Heart performed. He said he loved it, but then said one of his favorite covers was "Misty Mountain Hop" by the 4 Non Blondes. I have to agree, this version rocks.
They absolutely nailed and then some. One of the best cover of all time in my opinion! Linda makes it so much more with here voice and movements. Where has this video been? OMG I cant believe it. This will be part of my daily prescription from now on!! The band is equally in tune as well! Im blown away!
An amazing cover, quite possibly the best ever. Top 5 all time at the very least. Also an absolutely beautiful tribute to Led Zeppelin and Sir Robert Plant. They NAILED IT!
I grew up in Michgan on lake Huron & there's an annual garage sale day the stretches from Port Huron to bay city. I'm glad I went as a kid, because this is only one of the hidden gems I found. Enconium had a couple good covers. Blind Melon did another one that is worth looking up. I forget which one.
What a gem!!! Just discovered. Watching Almost Famous video, heard the zeppelin song followed the rabbit hole here. So thankful for this gift!!! She had to be the inspiration for Crazy Eyes (Orange Is the New Black).
In answer to the question who is the guitarist: The founding member guitarist for “4 Non Blonds” is Shaunna Hall, The guitarist who played on this recording is Dave Navarro, the guitarist in the video is from the band “2 Lane Blacktop” formerly on Linda Perry’s label “Rockstar Records”, and the guitarist soon to join the band and replace Shaunna is Roger Rocha:)
i am just blown away by how sick this sounds what an epic cover and this definitely one of my favortie songs by led Zeppelin and these guys just tear it up this absolutely kicks ass even the video kicks ass thank you for posting this
FM104 radio station in Brisbane used to run a 'knockout' song competition late evening where they would play 2 songs and you had to vote which to keep, and that song would carry over to the next evening as champion. When this came up, it sat as champion for 3 weeks straight, and they retired it as standing champion so they could play new song challengers! Note it was the DJ's decision, not the listeners. Alive by Pearl Jam had the same problem in the same challenge, also retired as undefeated champ!
Every time I see this video, it leaves me waxed and flabergasted at the same time. The preformance as a whole is great, from the drummer,to Linda's vocals. Nice work ladies.
Kick ass cover, wish this band would have put out more material, the one album was really good. I like to keep goggles on my head too, never know when the shit storm is gonna strike.
She nails those vocals and sounds like Robert an awful lot at times. It looks like she was channeling Robert and Ozzy. I still cant believe that I could sing like that but I proved to myself that I could. The night I recorded myself on my Walkman Pro singing along with him and John Paul Jones as Jimmy and John played along. I really blew my mind because I hit every note that Robert hit perfectly and I had that tape to prove it to myself. I already knew that I had nailed those vocals but listening to the playback was cool for confirmation. Other people probably wouldn't believe it but I'm being honest about it. My best friend knew it was true when I played it back for him. My Walkman Pro was supposed to cost $500 and it made excellent recordings. I still find it hard to believe but Mr. Plant couldn't outsing me that night. It will always blow my mind. I knew I could sing well as a kid but I didn't know that I could sing like that.
I played that song in a band in high school back in the early seventies. still have the Fender Mustang I played in that group. lots of memories in that 65 Mustang.
John Bonham and Jimmy Page clearly werent available for this reimagining, but Linda Perry killed it on vocals. Very underrated when ranking 90's rock vocalists.
On a whim I decided to check the discography of 4 Non Blondes. I've never youtubed a song so quickly as just now when I read they covered this song. Awesome.
Since nobody has commented on this yet, I'm just going to go ahead and point out that this is one of the most underrated covers of all time.
Absolutely agree with you!!!
@@susanhulsey6223 About time someone did!
Yes! One of the best covers I've heard.
I was just sending this to my friend and saying best cover ever
I would say the best cover I've heard. That lady got a tremendous voice.
How am I only seeing this for the first time now. This is incredible.
welcome to the party, my friend
Same here. Wow.
This is one of the worst videos ever made
It was on Econium A tribute to Led Zeppelin, 1995. But they were the best on it.
Same ! Took me til 2025!😂❤
Linda’s vocals are perfect as always but the musicians in this band deserve major credit. They’re freaking awesome!
Still jamming 2024 spring time!!!!! Some 420 intheair

Singing with passion....where has it gone. This is a classic case of doing justice to the powerful vocals of Robert. Congrats to Four Non blondes for capturing the essence of grit
Awesome cover of a classic. I'm impressed at how they captured the energy of the original and still managed to make it unique.

What exactly is unique or different from the original besides crazy eyes.
this is called:
*'When Karaoke Goes Wrong'*
Well if you were really familiar with the song 4NB made it unique by changing some of the lyrics@markweiss1934

Why did I not know this exists until today? Holy crap! I love Linda Perry's stage presence here.
This is great version of this song. They killed it.
The best cover song I’ve ever heard. And 4 Non Blondes might be the most underrated band of all time.
Linda Perry is such a badass not mention a GENIUS in the music industry!

Great cover and video with many clips of the Howard Hughes classic WWI film, Hell’s Angels in the background.

You don’t hear female vocalists like this these days. Or male vocalists, for that matter.

Spot on. Fantastic. It had as much energy and punch as Led Zeppelin. Bravo!

Great cover. Changed enough to be unique but still true to the original.
I sincerely think, even if I love Led Zeppelin, that this version is even better than the original… they should be remembered for this ever
Fantastic! I gave every Led Zep Vinyl and never thought I’d like a led Zep cover like this!!!!

One second of this song, looking up at Linda Perry and her boots reminds me of Elton John's boots in Pinball Wizard. They look huge.
That's rad how the guitar took off on Third Stone from the Sun for a second there before the last solo..
