Josh I'm an ND fan and I agree. It's not as big of a loss as people are making it out to be.
Probably 70% of Notre Dame fans couldn’t even name the GM before last week, but he walks out and now everyone is acting this is the death blow to this program 😂
Riley Leonard leaving hurts the program more than losing Bowden, and even that can be overcome somewhat easily
that’s nothing, they’ll land another senior QB instead of bringing up the next person
@SteveKilgore27 BRUH.... CHRIS ASH tho... LMFAOO 😄😅😄😅😄🤣😄 JUST BE REAL... TERRIBLE HIRE MY MAN... FACE THE 🎶 🎵
@@mjuntz707 ain’t no way a USC fan is trying to lecture ND on Defense 😭 Try making the playoffs just once pal and then we can talk
@@mjuntz707 How USC defense going for ya? No self-awareness whatsoever.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
But your head coach could name him and said he was one of the reasons ND succeeded this year
Honestly I am more concerned about USC getting a good GM than us losing one
If ND can land Blanchard from TTU , then I think it’s a net positive for Notre Dame.
Bowden is fantastic at his job, but imo he’s not a program changer
💯 get Blanchard in ASAP and get to work
If ND lands Blanchard that is net positive because show me an elite class that Bowden brought in? He was really good but I think the big misses at the finish line recently leaves a sour taste to his tenure. On the other hand, I am not very high on Ash as DC. I am hoping he stays for 1 year as training wheels for Mickens then moves on so Mickens can become 2026 DC
Blanchard, being from Texas and knowing the state really well, is exactly what we need.
USC offered him $1mil, ND said “yeah just go ahead and take that because we’re not paying $1mil for you” and USC fans think they came out on top 😂 they got a GM that Freeman and the AD didn’t cry over losing
Why you laughing. This was a big hit to ND. And dude is stealing others from the staff
@@onesneak7668 lmao such a big hit that ND didn’t even try to make him an offer 😂 USC is gonna look like such fools to spend so much on a GM when bro couldn’t even consistently recruit top 10 for ND
@@SteveKilgore27 I think you're confusing the GM with the CMF. It's on the head coach to recruit. The GM just gets players excited about ND. It's on the coaching staff to close on recruits. GM brought a ton of top recruits on campus. Some committed and then de committed. That's on CMF and ND. Notre Dame has never consistently recruited top 10 with any coaching staff. They are their own worst enemy
If it’s not a big hit how come ND has not hired anyone yet? I mean if you already have it the bad people should be lining up for that ND job right?
lol I read your comment and i pictured you crying the whole time. You are going way too deep and it makes it look like you are hurt. Let it go big dawg.

ND could have paid him the money. Its not like they had a top 5 recruiting class. Onward GO IRISH☘️☘️☘️
Loved Bowden at ND too. Its just biz
Fr… people are acting like this guy had notre dame in the top 5 every year for recruiting
Your main point is exactly why he’s a big loss, albeit one they will try to replace with an equal or better person. The recruits they brought in were not the top rated, yet the best players that WANT to play football.
@joshuagray5094 Freeman obviously didn't think Chad was worth 1 million. Looks like they may be paying close to that for Blanchard so I'm not sure how to take that?
Go Irish ☘️☘️☘️
@ to be transparent I’m a usc fan, and pretty excited about CB coming. If I had to guess I would say that maybe they underestimated the value in the college football market for a GM type like him. With NIL this is almost if not as important of a job as a head coach bc recruiting these players, yet retaining them year after year is a huge job and not one the head coach can do alone
@joshuagray5094 i agree 100% Chad is awesome, and he will do really well. It's got to be easier to recruit in SoCal than SB for sure haha..
I'm not sure the the exact job responsibilities he will have at SC but you got a good one👍
I think your analysis of the GM hire is spot on, but I'm very interested in how you think Ash was a great hire. I obviously don't know the world anything like you do, but I don't think Ash's track record is near impressive enough to warrant praise. My hope is that his inheritance of a good defense will allow him to maintain a good defense, but he hasn't shown me that he can elevate a defense. His last coordinator job was Texas and they did not perform well (Covid year, so obviously not the best time to step into a new role). In the end, I trust Freeman, but I think I'll need to see it before the praise starts for this hire.
Thank you Josh. I’ve been saying it’s not the biggest loss for us. It does suck but honestly might be a blessing in disguise. We could get a better GM. What I’ve been saying is we haven’t even hit our peak with recruiting yet and Chad supposed to help us get there and hasn’t. If we can land that Texas tech guy I think we would hit that next level. Top 10 recruiting consistently.
💯 agree!
What does a GM even do? It's not like there's a draft and players are being traded. Granted the portal nonsense is getting (has gotten) out of control and there's now revenue sharing and contracts, but there's no way they're even close to as important as a pro GM.
$1M in SoCal is equivalent to about a $700k salary in South Bend based on CoL. Still a good bump but not as big as it sounds
If they can get this guy they will be fine. Remember anyone is replaceable.
If you're losing guys it's generally because they are doing well and others want them. Look at the last few ND DF coaches, they've gone on to do some really good things in college football. As long as Freeman is there, they'll be fine.
So... Notre Dame lands Chris Ash as a DC, and my Buckeyes still have no DC?
Notre Dame hasn’t been a contender for so long that their fans forgot that staff poaching happens every year after making a deep run.
I just had to google if my school has a GM for college football lol
As a ND fan Josh that is disrespectf….ly not a bad take. Now I don’t know about Chris Ash. What about Mike Mickens who is already there as a good coach? Maybe Ash and Mickens will be co-defensive coordinators?
Mickens is already a co defensive coordinator
@ okay, I thought they were considering it with Ash, but there was no conclusion. Good to know.
@@stephengoodson9619 if they would’ve demoted Mickens from Co DC to just DB coach he would’ve left
If losing Bowden is a death blow ND must be a fragile program
Gm is an important gig but who cares, freeman the Oc and Dc are the main recruiters
Let’s be honest defensive coordinator more concerning
Does he dump on ND like he did every episode last year? I’m waiting on him to see the light
Go Irish
Talk about absurdity. When someone starts talking about things like an expert, when he actually knows nothing about the people or the subject.
omg it seems we lose our defense coach every 2-4 years. omg you down grading toe USC....just chasing money....that prestiagious like ND
as long as northern illinois or any team with a pulse aren't on their schedule, they should be ok. stay independent to stay relevant!
Dork Michigan fan. Did you even go to Dearborn or Flint, or are you 100% Walmart?
Interesting strategy to advertise how clueless you are to the entire internet.
They just finished the year by beating 3 top 10 teams in a row and made the national championship game. Michigan is waiting to hear if they will be punished for what went on behind the scenes during their best seasons this millennium.
Wake me up when nd wins a natty, 37 years and counting
@@jekscie2131 the last time Michigan won an undisputed title without cheating was 1948. Not sure how many years that’s been…
But Saban had great replacements... not Chris Ash 😅😂😅😂
Yeah like Tommy Reese 🤡
@mjuntz707 time will tell on this hire, hope he is a fit...
@@mjuntz707 yall were saying the same thing about Golden because Miami ran him outta town. Man, USC is so jealous of notre dame
How high was Golden’s stock when they hired him? Everyone complained because Miami ran him out of town. It is Freeman’s defense and Ash will likely be fine.
it won’t change the fact that they’ll lose to a G5 team again
And it won’t change the fact that if they keep making the playoffs (and maybe even going to more NCGs) it won’t matter.
@@GoatedAtNFS FACTS LOLZ
What happened after that?
Hey Goat
Talk to me about Michigan my man
Like I said. Ohio State is the college football team the best money could buy.
@dennisjudge5044 Annnnd whats your point... they won a Natty brother!!!!! Some teams spent more than 20 million. Do your research.
Lmao Pate you wrong on this one but carry on.
