    Thank you so much for making this instructional video Rene! My Barnett Recruit serving started fraying, and I thought in buying new strings. With this video I am confident I can put new serving and give new life to my crossbow.
    May God bless you richly for your generous contribution.

      Thank you for commenting, it should be a relative easy way of restoring your string to a great standard. it has worked for me over the years, and if you do two servings half the size you end up with the same diameter and a strong string 👍👍
      it good to go through your crossbow once in a while like this, since you discover minor wear and tear as well other places on the bow...
      to finish the serving you can always practise on a broom shaft with a big line or rope, to get the feeling with it.
      I hope that helps a little..
      god bless, stay safe and let me know how you did 👍👍
      best regards Rene

    Do you have any ideas of how many inch per pound to tighten the ring mounts to the rail?

      Thanks for commenting, no unfortunately, but the two rubber cushions underneath reveals it. I made it tight but still shock absorbing- without a torque wrench
      Safe hunting

    Why did you do 2 full wraps as opposed to just the single ?

    • @techtips101
      @techtips101  11 місяців тому

      I had to, since I elected a smaller diameter thread in order to get the same distance from the rail to the center of thread. It seems to hold up a lot longer. You don’t need to do double as I did - single will do just fine, however the double seems to hold wear and tear a lot better.

    what serving do you use?

    • @techtips101
      @techtips101  3 роки тому +2

      I am using a half size the one that was on originally, approximately.
      #62XS Braided Serving .021 from BCY
      it works very well and seems to hold up very well too. I have shot a lot with it since and it doesn't show much wear or tear.
      hope that helps
      Best regards
      Rene

      Thank for commenting - I am sorry to hear that, I have had no trouble for the year I have had mine - it works very well, and I like to be able to change the string in nature without the need to see a press. I am sure Excalibur would be happy to help you out with this :) contact them in Canada, would be my advice ...
      I hope you will get this fixed and be happy with it :)
      best regards Rene

      @@didiernotable4647 Ok - well that's what happens sometimes - I would guess that excalibur just would exchange it for you. However there are so many good crossbows out there and I hope that you will get one again and obtain the sport... The night hunting I do with mine is absolutely great. It does require more maintenance than my bow though. I hope you will get the issue resolved soon ....
      Best regards Rene

      @@techtips101 That’s nice to hear ,but at the end of November I sent it back to the store in the Netherlands where I bought them online .
      Normallly I expect them back at the end of January.
      Fortunately I can now continue shooting with my previous crossbow that has been around for 30 years, it is only half as powerful but never had any problems with it.
      Thank you for the information Rene 👍

    Awsome video, thank you i suscribed to your channel. Also wondering are you double serving because you are using thinner thread?

    • @techtips101
      @techtips101  Рік тому +1

      Thank for watching and commenting, yes I use double serving it seems to hold up better and it did not change my grouping much.
