The best guitar build videos I have yet to see, thankyou. My father, an antique reproduction furniture craftsman, taught me to never draw my marking lines more than once. Bad habit to draw twice. The secret to a successful build, is a sharp pencil. If one is this meticulous about a pencil, then the rest of the build will naturally follow.
As a novice builder find these videos are clear and concise - just wonderful. For softer woods without paint/lacquer finishes, what are your thoughts on surface hardening the wood with very thin epoxy that soaks in, or some other process for ding resistance? Moderate to light weight is important to me and most lower density woods here in New Zealand are also rather soft. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos.
There is a wood hardener available for rotten wood; Home Depot and stores like that carry it. Most finishes will bond to it. Diluted epoxy, like West Systems I use works very well too. Cut it with mineral spirits or whatever they recommend. I like soft wood because it shows wear very quickly, so your guitar looks like a relic.
