The timing of the WHY? release was hilarious too, they released it only days after being deeply wronged by event management staff at a fan meet (I think) 😂😂
"Saiyan" is a term that refers to a fictional race of extraterrestrial beings in the popular Japanese anime "Dragon Ball". The Saiyans are known for their exceptional fighting abilities, especially when they experience intense emotions, such as anger or distress. They are recognized for their signature ability to transform into more powerful forms, such as the Super Saiyan. (source: Quora)
My nostalgic DBZ-loving heart was so happy when I saw they were doing a track called Saiyan. I remember a few members of SKZ being DBZ fans too. Now all they need to do is make an MV for it where they're actually dressed as Super Saiyans.... *manifesting this lol*
When this song first started playing, I was like "is there a 'Saiyan' reference in Korea or Japan outside of DBZ that I'm now familiar with" and then I heard the English portions and that was enough for me to go "nope. Nope, this is about DBZ." I don't know if it's for a specific project the way that Night and Falling Up are for Tower of God, or if it's just showing off how SKZ are *giant nerds* (I love them) but it's great.
As a huge Nine Inch Nails fan I always thought "Side Effects" had a Trent Reznor flavor all over it. I was convinced Chan took inspiration from them or something. Can't wait to hear your take on this song Tony.

Christmas Love was intended to be like a Hallmark Xmas song. If you are looking for a Skz take on Xmas music, Christmas Evel is absolutely more in your lane.
Christmal Evel is gonna become your Christmas hit once you hear it, it's a crazy one. xD The lyrics are also supreme cause it's like a critic or making fun of the Christmas Cliches. Ah, and yes, lot of their lyrics are very empowering, pushing you to express yourself, to keep going and to feel strong and not alone in "your misery", also more meaningful. Their music have helped a lot of us to see things with a different perspective and keep going. Thanks for your reaction :D
Chk chk boom was the second song of stray kids you ever reacted to, so maybe that's why you "missed" a few sounds because you didn't know what to expect from skz back then :) Glad to see you listening to it again 🥰
Came in late, per my usual, but I love that "WHY?" is finally on an album. It may not be the title track, but re-listening to it, and then listening to "Giant" feels like a natural progression to me. Written around the same time maybe? Their Japanese albums are always so intense feeling imo (excluding the Christmas Song - no offense to Christmas lovers). This album as a whole Do Re Mi Fa King slaps so hard!
It's so funny you were introduced to SKZ with short songs. Their first song (Hellevator) was over 4 minutes and the head of the company was like, are you nuts? 😂
Haha. Also, JYP wanted Chan to change the key because he said it was written like a girl group song. I don’t think he has ever given one F*ck and didn’t change it. 🤣 those high notes in their songs matched with Felix’s bass voice are 🤌🏼
I may be remembering wrong but when I was watching the Stray Kids survival show wasn't the song originally named Elevator and wasn't Changbin the one who suggested to add the "H" and change it to Hellevator? Please correct me if I am wrong about that.
Listened to the album earlier today and kept finding myself thinking things like, “Huh, I have no idea what that sound effect is, but Tony is gonna love it” 😂
And this right here is a perfect example to explain why we love your reactions so much! I was on the fence about the japanese version of Chk Chk Boom - I listened to the whole album a couple of times yesterday and I just couldn't distance myself enough from the singing/rapping flow of the original to really enjoy this one OR to pay attention to the finer details in the music itself. Enter Tony and my brain goes "Oooh, wait a goddamned minute! They slowed it down? Sounds like it, yeah. Waaaait!! Yeah, I can't remember if I heard those sounds on the original either... WHAT?!"...🤯 Thank you so much!
Christmas evel is THE Christmas song 🎄🎄🎄 I don't like Christmas songs at all but this one I listen to even in summer 😂 I am always looking forward for your reaktions. There are the best. Thank you for that 🤗
I think Christmas Love is a response to all of us begging for a full version of...was it "All I Want For Christmas..? Anyway, a cover that Chan and Seungmin did for a Christmas Special a couple years ago. They sounded fantastic
You said it during Falling Up (Eng.version) - their lyrics have as much power and attention as the music production gets. You need to revisit ALL their songs.
YES!!! That’s what I’ve been telling Tony since Day 1 of his SKZ reactions! He needs to look at their lyrics of each song too! 😭 It’s their lyrics & worldplays that got me & turned me into a STAY! They are one of the most powerful & significant elements that set them apart from most of the other K-pop groups (besides their amazing music production of course)
100% lyrics should be checked out. Already loved songs are even better somehow after the lyrics are known, especially when you get Korean speaking people doing the breakdowns who understand the word play and symbolisms! Some people are all about the sound only though so luckily SKZ has both going for them!
Yes, a lot of SKZ music is uplifting and empowering. They also do a lot talking about their own struggles (ie. depression, anxiety, etc) so they are really relatable. They write beautiful lyrics--Han's songs especially have gorgeous lyrics, he has such a way with words.
I love watching your reactions to music. You bring attention to the production of the music which I don’t always see because people get so much input with the songs and music videos. I have your videos open on a tab and I rewatch them to fall asleep at night(not in a bad way cause I listen to SKZ to fall asleep. I think it’s just the ADHD in me). Keep doing what you want cause that’s what makes your videos so enjoyable.
someone probably already mentioned it in your original night and falling up reaction but in falling up the lyric “I shed my blood, sweat and tears, head to the top I give it my all, I got no slump” is a reference to the previous opening and ending “Top” and “Slump” they did back in 2020 for the same anime (Tower of God). The songs were released as singles in japanese, korean, and english as well as the korean versions being included on their album Go Live (but not the repackage In Life which you listened to) they’re very good songs and especially loved by stays so if you were interested in reacting to them i know we would all love to see it! they also released instrumentals for both tracks which you might be interested in.
I love tony’s reactions because hes unlike some of the other reactors who uses stray kids for views Tony actually do this for good music and gives appreciation to stray kids music He remembers the songs he listened to because hes really in the fandom with us instead of just pretending
This is my interpretation of “Giant” mv and lyrics and what it’s about. In the beginning Seungmin started the song with „People think I’m big (aka. That they’ve achieved everything) but I’m small, I ain’t satisfied with the goals. (Aka. Expressing their relentless ambition and determination to achieve greatness) And then Felix followed up with “Just like a walking ant, let’s overcome the pain and become a Gi-ant” Which through out the music video they’re working hard, trying to find this magical egg which when put all together at the end, a bigger stronger egg is formed, of which a giant is born. Them but much stronger. Overcoming all obstacles, pushing boundaries with their music, they become unstoppable. Taking on the world and are ready to crush anything beneath them. “ Run, run, run before we come come come, I’m a Giant crushing worlds below” (aka. Those who try to bring them down.) Just like ants they’re always working (creating music), and just like ants, when they’re alone they’re weak but when they’re all together as a colony, they’re much stronger and unstoppable. They become a Gi-ant.
For this Christmas song Bangchan wanted a song that you can hear everywhere, like do you know when you go to mall e there is a Christmas playlist playing? I think that is because of this the song is more calm and soft
Thanks for reacting Tony! I really liked how you handled re-listening to the different language versions, pulling different aspects of it and diving into the lyrics for English versions. One of the reasons I love Stray Kids is there's just so many layers to appreciate. They put such effort and care into every detail.
If you want a skz Christmas song…Christmas EveL is the way to go! It has an MV and it’s a full album! The other songs are more ballad type but Christmas evel is chefs kiss - definitely recommend the MV too!
Watching your videos has given me a new appreciation for their music. I’ve always loved it as a whole but have never given a lot of thought to all of the small things in the music. Now when I listen to them I pick out things you’ve mentioned. It’s really cool.

Ye I love skz songs but when you see the lyrics (the lyric videos are great for this) they hit deeper 100%… I wasn’t sure about giant the first time I listened but I’ve now listened to it about 50000 times 😂 and it is my new fave.. the music video is like an actual movie it’s 🔥. And everytime you comment you made about Christmas songs made me certain you’re going to LOVE Christmas evil it’s an absolute banger.. would def recommend lyrics for that one too. Yeah. Most of SKZ songs have positive lyrics. If you want to know what a song is saying, and there isn't a English version to listen to, just find a color coded lyric video. They won't always be accurate on who is singing, but the translations are mostly right. Loved going through the album with you. It was fun seeing your reactions.
I loved how you described polyrhythms in a way that made total sense!! I believe in the part you were referencing in WHY, the snare and bass are maybe playing the same rhythm, but just offset from each other? It has an rhythmic feel because snare hits are rather on the offbeats.
i always am excited to see/hear ur reactions to skz releases cuz it helps me hear more that i mightve missed the first times thank you so much for keeping up with us i always love your reactions
Hi! I'm here to recommend an album to you!!! It is a Japanese album called 'THE SOUND', you have heard of the Korean version. There is a song called 'Battle Ground' inside that I think you will like! I don't know if the other songs on this album are in your favorite style, but I recommend this album to you!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I don't know anything about music except what I like however that polyrythm thing u mentioned I believe is what Handsome Sausage reactors were talking about in their Giant reaction. They were talking about an off beat section that can be done wrong and too jarring and mentioning SKZ pushed that border in Giant. Maybe check that out for yourself it may tell u what it's actually called if it's the same thing. They're pretty good for the Korean lyrics breakdown too when they focus on them
@tonystocco makes perfect sense, as soon as I saw it I was like, yep, ant to a giant. The scale is so hard to comprehend, pictures never do it justice. I saw climbers setting up a suspended camp for the night, and they were tiny specks against the rock.
FYI: there are still 2 other version of Chk Chk Boom that were later released called Deadeye version and Heatwave version, they're pretty cool if you wanna give them a go.
GIANT, I need to get used to it but I like it, Syian and WHY? They are simply superior. Also, Tony, you should react to YUTA's first solo album "Depth", it's beautiful and I think it's your style.
I really enjoy your reactions, so I would like to recommend something you might like, the new xdinary heroes album, it's very good, I hope you take my recommendation, and thanks for this new reaction🐢
Would love you to revisit some of their songs with lyrics (English translation). There are color coded lyric videos, where it shows who’s singing and is translated into English. Especially with songs like Silent Cry, the lyrics are very hard hitting. Also recommend listening to SKZ-replay (preferably with lyrics too), it’s like a collection of their SKZ-records that they’ve released on UA-cam only throughout the years in one album. There’s plenty of their solo works and songs in groups of three or duets in the album.
33:30 its actually rare for skz to make less than 3 mins songs HAHAH and if they ever do, they're usually almost 3 mins long as well so u dont really notice that they’re “short"
Aiwokuretanoni naze 愛をくれたのに、なぜ means something like 'why did you give me your love' and with parts like 'love is painful' this is a nice contrast to christmas love where it's "all about Love" with such cute and innocent lyrics about love 🥰 So yeah not all of their songs have those typical uplifting or 'we are the best' type of lyrics, even though there are a lot 🔥
Been expecting this reaction all day, it was awesome as always, I truly love this album and the mv. Can't wait for your reaction to Christmas evel, it's the song that got me into Stray Kids.
Oh my god! Fuel! You nailed it. I’ve been trying to pinpoint what that reminded me of for a month. I’ve been a Fuel fan for a long time and I’m ashamed of myself that I couldn’t put that together lol
Put this album on in a car and watch how your faves get switched. This album sounds incredible on the road. Saiyen is sick. Thanks for the reaction as always!
Thanks Tony, so interesting as usual. I appreciate listening to you first, catching the instrumentation twists and turns - now to listen again for the rest of the good stuff. ❤
Oh I cannot wait for your reaction to Christmas Evel!! I actually laugh everytime Christmas Love comes on just because it is so random but I feel like it is so on brand for stray kids to do something like that! 🤣
at 54:19 u were saying how that sounds more punkish and I want to believe its because its actually Han singing that part and i feel like he has a really good voice for punk and rock. You should definitely listen to his and all of the other member's solo stuff one of these day!!!
46:10 the live band only does tours with them, so they don't play the instruments on the recordings. The live band is SO good though, they sometimes change up the arrangement a bit and suddenly we got TOPLINE...Latin edition? It's so fun and they really make the energy go through the roof!
Tony, it is ridiculous how much I’m looking forward to you listening to Christmas Evl! I need a date so I can schedule my end of year family commitments around your video going up (I’m still a responsible wife and mother as well as a card-carrying Stay lol) 😂 But ngl, getting a bit worried we hyped it so much you’ll be like “meh….not my favourite” 🫣 You really should do the whole Christmas Evl album! (pretty pleeeease)
From the "GIANT" album only these 4 tracks are new ones: "GIANT", "Saiyan", "Love is painful" and "Christmas Love". The other ones are either old soundtracks or different version of other previously released songs.
No way this is how i found out ai wo kureta noni naze has an english name LOL. im so glad i wont be typing that long anymore when mentioning the song😂❤
@@yumekzmz3891 Happy to help 😊 My reaction to the name at first was just like Tony's. I was not about to even attemp to prounounce that but SKZ as usual has our backs us ISTAYS 🤭
As an anime fan, this album is so fun to listen to. Three of the songs (Night, Falling Up, and Why) were written as anime OSTs, so the "new" songs on the album also have an anime OST feel (with a Christmas song thrown in for fun). I could definitely see Giant and Saiyan as the intro to an action anime and other song (which roughly translates to "you gave me your love, why") would be a great intro for a romance/school days anime. Even though it's different from their other albums, I love the theme of this release. The guys sound great and I even like the Christmas song 😄
Christmas Evel is THE stray kids style Christmas song 😂 it's gonna have all those crazy twists you were waiting for
Totally also recommend you watch the Music Video right after! it's so fun as well!!!!

Watching this video makes me appreciate the small details i haven’t noticed in their songs, i’m so glad yt recommended me it
59:57 THEY ARE, THIS IS THE REASON
also not every kpop band writes their lyrics, skz are kind of an exception
My sister and I were WAITING for this to drop all day 😂
I really love falling up too❤ it sounds so emotional 😢 esp on bangchan parts and felix intros, i fall in love immediately
i always am excited to see/hear ur reactions to skz releases cuz it helps me hear more that i mightve missed the first times thank you so much for keeping up with us i always love your reactions
Thank you
Hi! I'm here to recommend an album to you!!! It is a Japanese album called 'THE SOUND', you have heard of the Korean version. There is a song called 'Battle Ground' inside that I think you will like! I don't know if the other songs on this album are in your favorite style, but I recommend this album to you!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Battleground off The Sound is absolutely one of my favorite "rock" SKZ songs.
Yes! I prefer The Sound album over Giant tbh
I love this - 3 tv soundtracks on one album! Love the new songs too ❤❤
Christmas Love is a song Chris wrote to be played in shopping malls while you do your Christmas shopping, it was a dream of his 😍
I don't know anything about music except what I like however that polyrythm thing u mentioned I believe is what Handsome Sausage reactors were talking about in their Giant reaction. They were talking about an off beat section that can be done wrong and too jarring and mentioning SKZ pushed that border in Giant. Maybe check that out for yourself it may tell u what it's actually called if it's the same thing. They're pretty good for the Korean lyrics breakdown too when they focus on them
58:33 Yes, Fuel, that’s it!! Reminds me of Hemorrhage, specifically “leave love bleeding in my hands, in my hands”
Love the thumbnail btw, Half Dome is so crazy. I only ever got to visit Yosemite once in my life but it's a cherished memory.
It's unbelievable. Standing there made me feel small compared to the "Giant" landscape. That's why I used it as the thumbnail.
@tonystocco makes perfect sense, as soon as I saw it I was like, yep, ant to a giant. The scale is so hard to comprehend, pictures never do it justice. I saw climbers setting up a suspended camp for the night, and they were tiny specks against the rock.
If you like the festival version of chick chick boom, you might like the deadeye version as well.
FYI: there are still 2 other version of Chk Chk Boom that were later released called Deadeye version and Heatwave version, they're pretty cool if you wanna give them a go.
The deadeye ver. Is my favorite, I mean, is just SUPER COOL 😊
Another reactor also mentioned Dub Step, used in their song Freeze (Eddie)
Giant to me sounds like the forbiden child of Venom and Mountains
😂lol now I can't stop hearing it when listening Giant 😂😂so on point
@@LeleHeiden pleased to spread my knowledge lol 😁
Giant definitely reminds me of mountains and venom. Especially the I.n shot as the MV thumbnail
Two of my favorite SKZ songs in one
@@raquelarmani9003 ooh true!
On the album Christmas Evel there is an english version of Domino. I suggest you do the same thing and check the lyrics for it this time
I didn't know that. Great idea!
GIANT, I need to get used to it but I like it, Syian and WHY? They are simply superior.
Also, Tony, you should react to YUTA's first solo album "Depth", it's beautiful and I think it's your style.
I think this is the first time anyone requested YUTA and I've never heard of them. They're on my list. Thank you!
I'm still on the Giant song reaction, I think the song you're thinking about is "Venom". That was my first thought hearing that sound.
That glass tapping sound reminds me of that special sound in venom
Loved the concept of a prerecorded premiere with live chat. I’ve never seen this done before!
It's a cool UA-cam feature and people seem to like it - specifically the live chat part.
@@tonystocco Premiers are awesome. Sorry I missed yours!
I really enjoy your reactions, so I would like to recommend something you might like, the new xdinary heroes album, it's very good, I hope you take my recommendation, and thanks for this new reaction🐢
Tony's stray kids reactions are my new favorite thing 🎉
Aiwokuretanoni naze
愛をくれたのに、なぜ means something like 'why did you give me your love' and with parts like 'love is painful' this is a nice contrast to christmas love where it's "all about Love" with such cute and innocent lyrics about love 🥰
So yeah not all of their songs have those typical uplifting or 'we are the best' type of lyrics, even though there are a lot 🔥
Aiwokuretanoninaze my beloved
Been expecting this reaction all day, it was awesome as always, I truly love this album and the mv. Can't wait for your reaction to Christmas evel, it's the song that got me into Stray Kids.
Totally understand the Fuel vibes on falling up!
Oh my god! Fuel! You nailed it. I’ve been trying to pinpoint what that reminded me of for a month.
I’ve been a Fuel fan for a long time and I’m ashamed of myself that I couldn’t put that together lol
Venom! I think that the song you keep thinking of while listening giant
anyone else getting Noeasy CHEESE vibes from WHY?
I did! Lol😂
It does!!! Stands with the super cool songs
The ping sound in giant is like venom that’s what it reminds you of 😂
Omggg yeesssss I typed this a few minutes ago
Put this album on in a car and watch how your faves get switched. This album sounds incredible on the road. Saiyen is sick. Thanks for the reaction as always!
Thanks Tony, so interesting as usual. I appreciate listening to you first, catching the instrumentation twists and turns - now to listen again for the rest of the good stuff. ❤
Oh I cannot wait for your reaction to Christmas Evel!! I actually laugh everytime Christmas Love comes on just because it is so random but I feel like it is so on brand for stray kids to do something like that! 🤣
omfg the part before the chorus in the christmas song sounds like they're about to break into mr. blue sky
Oh yes, you now MUST listen to Christmas EveL
I will do that soon.
@tonystocco you're in for a treat. Thanks for the vid Tony x
I’m waiting for your reaction Tony, for me you’re the best ,,congrats.
Thank you 🙌
Christmas love gives me vibes “time out” song
Pretty much all their songs are empowering! That is exactly why I love them! They save lives with their lyrics❤
FINALLY IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS REACTION 😂
another amazing reaction! stay always appreciate your insight! sending love 💕
Yea! I’m so glad you did this. Love the song Giant!
Spot on with the Fuel reference.
Christmas Love is so under appreciated, y‘all are so boriiiiiiing. Just have fun for once in your life!!!
I actually really really like it!
Thank you Tony. Ngl was waiting for this. I knew you would like "Why"...
such a good album! also, i hope you react to the "i am who?" and "I am not" albums soon! looking forward to it:)
Your reaction to the "got me got me" section was the same one I had! Thank you for understanding Stray Kids music and their genius!
and the "pinging" sound is reminiscent of Venom - and Domino.
at 54:19 u were saying how that sounds more punkish and I want to believe its because its actually Han singing that part and i feel like he has a really good voice for punk and rock. You should definitely listen to his and all of the other member's solo stuff one of these day!!!
I waited for yourrr reactionnn yesss
46:10 the live band only does tours with them, so they don't play the instruments on the recordings. The live band is SO good though, they sometimes change up the arrangement a bit and suddenly we got TOPLINE...Latin edition? It's so fun and they really make the energy go through the roof!
I think it’s time for stray kids 2024 guide ❤
Tony, it is ridiculous how much I’m looking forward to you listening to Christmas Evl! I need a date so I can schedule my end of year family commitments around your video going up (I’m still a responsible wife and mother as well as a card-carrying Stay lol) 😂 But ngl, getting a bit worried we hyped it so much you’ll be like “meh….not my favourite” 🫣
You really should do the whole Christmas Evl album! (pretty pleeeease)
I heard the full album is only 4 songs. If that's true, then I'll probably do the whole thing... in December.
"is there any edm Christmas song?"
Wait for Christmas EveL sir!!
Thanks again for reacting🫶🏼 keep going ☺️
As I was listening to the album yesterday, I kept on thinking, "I can't wait to see Tony react to this part!"
You're so quick, thank you for reacting
As an anime fan, this album is so fun to listen to. Three of the songs (Night, Falling Up, and Why) were written as anime OSTs, so the "new" songs on the album also have an anime OST feel (with a Christmas song thrown in for fun). I could definitely see Giant and Saiyan as the intro to an action anime and other song (which roughly translates to "you gave me your love, why") would be a great intro for a romance/school days anime. Even though it's different from their other albums, I love the theme of this release. The guys sound great and I even like the Christmas song 😄
