- U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, who came under scrutiny for the agency's failure to prevent the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, has resigned, according to two sources familiar with the decision.
Cheatle had faced calls to step down since the shooting at a Trump rally on July 13, which left one attendee dead and two others critically injured.

@@WolvenBolt Some people here claim resigning is different from quitting, but as far as I know, quiting/resigning means you don't get severance. Firing you could get your severance, unless they have solid legal grounds to fire you (caught stealing or breaking NDA or something like that.)
But all of this might be different when working for the government, especially at high levels like this, I don't know.

She was a 27-year secret service agent before she retired in 2019 and became head of global security at PepsiCo. She held that job for three years before the Biden Administration hired her as SS Director. I’m not defending her record as Director, it was a dumpster fire. Just for the sake of accuracy though, she did have years of relevant technical experience - she obviously lacked something in executive skills and a sense of accountability.

Former director Cheatle emphasized repeatedly that a suspicious person is NOT a threat and there was nothing they could do about it, especially when he did all those suspicious activities outside their security perimeter. Isn't that cute? 😆😅🤣

In the highest position of the SS we have someone who blatantly without a flinch conjured safety as the reason why a SS officer could not be on the sloped roof, not considering her sniper was on a roof with a steeper pitch. To lie so comfortably tells me that she became the director under reasons that were not determinate on qualifications. After the major incident, she became the Incident Commander who should have responded to the site without delay, yet not only did she not respond without delay, but she never went to this site. She sabotaged herself. It's apparent that she is not a leader, but she is a process person.

The fault is not attributable to Director Kimberley Cheatle because the procedures and staff training are not in question, but only their application. The administrative and penal offender is the officer in charge on the ground.
Thats the issue…why wouldnt she be held accountable along with whomever contributed to this failure? Go after every single individual? YES. She should be held accountable directly but she isnt the only one.

This is a not a resignation it is a retirement. She will be allowed to disappear into her comfortable retirement life with full retirement benefits and a very large pension.
