There's Football, then there's Academics, then there's the combination of both, then there's the Military Academy requirements plus Football and Academics. No other university can compete with USMA, Annapolis or USAF Academy (Colorado). None. Most other students would crack.
As far as academics and sports ... Notre Dame falls into that realm because they actually try to keep it student athlete with the student being first.....as far as adding the military aspect to it. Yes of course. No one can compare to military academies
Life-long ND fan since 1964 (when I was 6 years old)....30-year retired Amy Vet (and while not a West Pointer, I did serve there at the Academy for 3 wonderful years).....I mentioned to a friend who asked me Saturday night about ND's uniforms. Said I wasn't a fan....preferred their traditional Blue & Gold....and NO NAMES on their jersey backs. Then I said "you know, like Army....with their TEAM name on their back" (of course Army did have their last names in small print on the front of their jerseys. :-) Coach Monken is what's RIGHT about College Football (my first love of ALL sports)....he's the embodiment of leadership (what West Point/USMA is all about), toughness, teaching and Class. Looking for that Brave Ol' Army Team to rebound next week, take the AAC and BEAT NAVY!!!

Extremely gracious coach, but ND is not as "complete" a team as he says. Against the truly top teams, you have to cash in makeable field goals....and ND can't rely on those points at all. They'd best spend some time drawing up 4th-and-short ideas.
Undersized and out-athleted. This team is not a fraud they play disciplined, and hard-nosed. I wouldn't be surprised if they could beat a lot of top teams. Notre Dame just also excels at disciplined and hard-nosed with way better athletes.
